Belarus Appears to Be Invading Poland with Migrants

The tension on the Polish-Belarus border has hardly abated, as Poland has added yet another claim that Belarus is attempting to destabilize Poland by forcing floods of people from hostile lands with hostile cultures to Poland’s mostly Catholic-dominated and Polish-ethnic culture.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Hundreds if not thousands of migrants sought to storm the border from Belarus into Poland on Monday, cutting razor wire defenses and using branches to try and climb over fences. The siege escalated a crisis along the European Union’s eastern border that has been simmering for months.

Poland’s interior ministry said it had rebuffed the illegal invasion and claimed the situation was under control. It posted a video showing armed Polish officer using a chemical spray through a fence at men who were trying to cut the razor wire. Some migrants threw objects at police.

Video footage from Belarusian media showed people using long wooden poles or branches to try to get past a border fence as police helicopters circled overhead.

“A coordinated attempt to massively enter the territory of the Republic of Poland by migrants used by Belarus for the hybrid attacks against Poland has just begun,” a spokesman for Poland’s security forces, Stanislaw Zaryn, said in a statement.

The donation included 57 varieties of essential medicines like antibacterial, antiviral, and traumatic injury medicine, as well as 6 varieties of medical consumables.

The villages expressed gratitude to the contingent, believing that this will improve their ability of providing necessary medical services to local residents.

Since their deployment to Lebanon in mid-August this year, the 20th Chinese peacekeeping contingent has performed rabies vaccinations, and provided free clinical treatment to 47 local persons.

Their main task there is to provide medical health service support, which includes medical care, hygiene and disease control, escort and evacuation of the sick and wounded, to more than 4,000 peacekeepers and employees under the Sector East of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). In addition, it also carries out humanitarian relief operations for local people and refugees.

China has started to send peacekeeping troops to Lebanon since 2006. Currently, the Chinese peacekeeping force deployed in southern Lebanon includes a medical contingent, an engineering contingent and a multi-role engineering unit, with a total of over 400 service members.

MIT Programmed AI Machines Outperform Humans in Teamplay Contest

Artificial Intelligence is capable of doing more in cooperation with other Artificial intelligence than humans are, to the surprise of no one that understands human nature.  MIT wanted to make sure they got that obvious fact documented, so they had human Hanabi players battle with AI players, and, yep, the AI players were better teammates than the human ones were, but the humans left the game as individuals and the AI AI players left the game with no sentience whatsoever.

The U.S. and EU have also agreed to launch a global arrangement focused on addressing excess capacity and carbon objectives.  The U.S. TRQ will become effective on January 1, 2022, and the EU’s retaliatory tariffs will be removed on the same day.

China and Russia Might Try Afghanistan Together

In the not-too-distant future, you can expect the Chinese and the Russians to try their hand at exploiting Afghanistan without themselves being exploited, at least that’s the theory of some foreign policy experts, and, perhaps, there’s some intriguing possiblity of truth to what they suggest.

The increasingly close bilateral relationship between China and Russia is one of the most interesting, consequential, and surprising geopolitical developments since the end of the Cold War. Beijing and Moscow — once bitter adversaries — now cooperate on military issues, cyber security, high technology, and in outer space, among other areas. While it falls short of an alliance, the deepening Sino-Russian partnership confounds U.S. strategists. Some have proposed driving a wedge between the two countries, but this seems unlikely for the foreseeable future.

Some have speculated that China and Russia might cooperate in Afghanistan to exploit the chaos left by the U.S. withdrawal. But is that true? Does the fall of Kabul to the Taliban pave the way for greater Sino-Russian coordination in Afghanistan?

China Targets News Media in Xi Jinping’s Campaign to Expand Communist Party Control

SINGAPORE—China’s Communist Party is ratcheting up its control over news media and online commentary, warning away private investors and cracking down on what it describes as misinformation, as it continues a campaign to assert itself more forcefully across the economy and Chinese society.

The country’s central economic planning agency released on Friday a draft regulation that promised to expand restrictions on the involvement of “nonpublic capital” in swaths of the news industry—a warning to news organizations with private funding to step carefully, according to analysts.

On the same day, authorities in southern China detained a well-known former journalist for allegedly insulting national martyrs in a post on social media that questioned the Communist Party’s account of the Korean War.

Both events come on the heels of other tightening moves, including a decision by China’s internet regulator at the end of August to muzzle over 1,000 independent…

Taliban Set to get World “Humanitarian Aid,” Including from America

After America’s seeming hasty retreat from Afghanistan, the news coming out from the embattled country has not been good.  With critical industries within Afghanistan collapsing, the nation now in the hands of a far-right Islami-fascist regime, the Taliban might be set up to receive massive amounts of humanitarian aid from multiple powers, including the United States, Germany, the EU, and even Russia, with more sure to follow.

Here is how the media is covering the emerging story.  For the most part, the headlines  tend to be relevently inocuous,,  with little context considered for the potential controversy of America now funding an enemy, the Taliban, shortly after losing a war to the same enemy.

Von der Leyen made the pledge at a virtual G20 summit hosted by Italy dedicated to discussing the humanitarian and security situation in Afghanistan.
