WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange lashed out at the mainstream media during a debate at a London university Thursday, fighting back at a string of unfavorable stories that have appeared since his organization’s publication of a cache of U.S. intelligence documents.

Assange’s group has reportedly suffered infighting and the former computer hacker-turned-online whistle blower also faces allegations of sexual misconduct in Sweden, where some of the organization’s infrastructure is based.

As WikiLeaks fell behind on its promised release of a new tranche of 15,000 U.S. intelligence reports, one former group spokesman was quoted this week as saying that the organization was becoming consumed by its confrontation with the Pentagon.

Daniel Domscheit-Berg, a German who said he recently quit as Wikileaks’ spokesman over Assange’s management style, told Der Speigel he had encountered problems with what he described as the Australian’s obsession with attacking the U.S. government.

At the debate at London’s City University, Assange disputed that Domscheit-Berg had quit, claiming he was suspended — but he refused to give details. He denied there had been a dispute over his management. “It was about a different issue,” Assange said.

HBO host Bill Maher ventured into the lion’s den this week, sitting down for a two part interview with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly. During the first several minutes of the opening night’s segment, however, O’Reilly seemed to get all the good lines, while Maher’s responses appeared surprisingly tepid.

It’s possible, of course, that Fox News had edited down the interview the same way they did Jon Stewart’s appearance on The O’Reilly Factor. As Mediaite reported last week, “The jovial exchange lacked any real body blows to declare a ‘winner.’ … Well, thanks to the folks at Fox News, the entire unedited version of the interview is available, and it turns out that much of the un-aired portion included the most pointed commentary by Mr. Stewart.”

As shown by Fox, O’Reilly began by asking Maher, “Why do you think President Obama’s having so much trouble in the job approval polls?”

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel will announce his resignation Friday and leave office the same day, multiple administration officials said, continuing a series of key staffing changes ahead of November’s midterm elections.

Pete Rouse, a senior adviser who was President Obama‘s chief of staff in the Senate, is expected to fill the role on an interim basis, although several officials said he could windup in the job permanently.

Obama will make two “personnel announcements” in the East Room at 11:05 a.m. Friday, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Thursday. The president is expected to announce the Emanuel and Rouse moves at the same time, to maintain as much continuity as possible.

President Barack Obama has apparently decided that the way to win voters’ hearts is to warn them against a return to the Bush years.He’s been in campaign mode this week trying to drum up enthusiasm for Democrats worried about losing their majority in Congress with just one month left until the Nov. 2 election.

In a backyard in Iowa, Obama told voters the election was a choice between going back to the Bush years or moving ahead (although he never uttered his predecessor’s name).

“When you look at the choice we face in this election coming up, the other side, what it’s really offering is the same policies that from 2001 to 2009 put off hard problems and didn’t really speak honestly to the American people about how we’re going to get this country on track over the long term,” Obama said.

Remember those jobs that Porkulus “saved or created” with $787 billion in borrowed money — which the Obama administration has claimed as its big success in job creation? Most of them turned out to be illusory, but the New York Times says tens of thousands that actually exist will soon be coming to an end. Perhaps a better description might be … jobs rented or leased?

Tens of thousands of people will lose their jobs within weeks unless Congress extends one of the more effective job-creating programs in the $787 billion stimulus act: a $1 billion New Deal-style program that directly paid the salaries of unemployed people so they could get jobs in government, at nonprofit organizations and at many small businesses.

Let’s stop here for a moment. If indeed this was as “effective” as the Times believes, the jobs wouldn’t have to disappear when the subsidies expire. These jobs didn’t get created as much as they got propped up. They were temp jobs, and like any temp job, the contract ends when the money stops.

(Reuters) – Patients with suppressed immune systems can quickly develop H1N1 flu infections that resist all known drugs, doctors in the Netherlands reported on Wednesday.

The case of a 5-year-old leukemia patient who died from swine flu after the virus mutated in his body showed that people with weakened immune systems may be at greater risk of developing dangerous drug-resistant infections, and illustrated the risks of using current drugs to treat these patients, the researchers said.

The H1N1 virus infecting the boy mutated to resist all three drugs approved to treat it, Dr. Charles Boucher of Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam wrote in a letter to the New England Journal of Medicine.

“The current formulation of the two drugs that we have have an intrinsic problem with resistance. Single mutations are sufficient for the virus to become resistant,” Boucher said in a telephone interview.

It is a tricky issue for doctors, who have been advised to consider quickly using drugs for cancer patients who are considered especially vulnerable to flu in the first place.

NY 9/11 Firefighter plans to sue over Ground Zero Mosque-Political News

A retired New York City firefighter who directed first responders into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, called plans to build a mosque at ground zero “psychological terrorism” in an interview with Newsmax in New York.

As President Obama was addressing the United Nations General Assembly just a few miles away, Vincent Forras told Newsmax that the plans of Imam Rauf to erect an Islamic center in a building where the landing gear of one of the planes that struck the twin towers impacted was nothing less than “an additional attack” on America.

“I’m not one of these guys who watches my country go down the tubes,” says Forras. “I have a son who’s a serving U.S. Marine. I can’t let down my fellow firefighters and first responders who died that day by not saying anything. I am certainly not going quietly into the night and watch this victory mosque go up on holy ground.”

Forras and other firefighters and first responders are suing Imam Feisel Abdul Rauf and Cordoba House and its related commercial entities with the aim of halting construction on the mosque and uncovering the sources of funding for the project, which the Imam has refused to disclose until now.

“We are hoping through the discovery process to see where the money is coming from,” Forras says. “If we find that the money is coming from people with ties to terrorism, or from foreign countries with ties to terrorism, that should be enough to shut it down right there.”

ATD has managed to get a hold of a screenshot showing the new features in action. Once you connect Skype () with Facebook (), you’ll be able to SMS, chat with or call your Facebook friends directly from Skype. You should also be able to log in to Skype with your Facebook credentials.

The new features should go live on Skype 5.0 when the new version goes out of beta in a couple of weeks.

At around 3:30 PM PST earlier today, Alameda County, Latino supporters of California Senate Candidate Carly Fiorina, were confronted by dozens of alleged union operatives and left-wing militants at multiple bus tour stops the group was making.

Andy Blom, Executive Director of American Principles In Action, was on scene and is riding on the bus supporting this tour. According to Blom, “They’re sending around two dozen people out and are literally in our faces shouting at us with megaphones.”

The Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, a division of American Principles In Action, a national nonprofit advocacy group, is sponsoring a bus tour through California to encourage Latinos to vote for Carly Fiorina in her US Senate bid against union-backed Barbara Boxer.

As the Latino base in California is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, and pro comprehensive immigration reform, (according to the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles) the group hopes to illustrate how Carly Fiorina actually reflects Latino values more than her pro-abortion, pro gay rights, incumbent Barbara Boxer.

At one stop, the group was being confronted by about two dozen alleged Union operatives and gay activists. The operatives are shouting down these modern-day “Freedom Riders”, and in some instances using physical intimidation to try to get the Fiorina supporters to “shut up”. While this latest stop, at Alameda, was the worst stop, the level of aggressiveness has been steadily building.

“People in the Latino community shouldn’t be afraid to come out and hear the other side,” Andy Blom told the Freedomist, while still on the bus just a few hours after the incident, “but the fact is, they’re very worried because if the Latino community hears the truth, they will lose support.” Blom was referring to the alleged union toughs and militant gay activists he has caught on video using megaphones to scream into the faces of the Latino crowds that had gathered to hear the Pro-Fiorina supporters speak.

The level of harassment is escalating and Blom sees that an escalation of such aggression is likely to continue and could even rise to the level of physical violence. The tour will be going to larger cities where the number of supporters for Fiorina amongst the Latino community will be larger and Blom is concerned that “if they (the militants) try and pull this down there, in, say L.A. or Orange County, I’m not sure what will happen.” The level of aggression directed at the Latinos has been steadily rising at each stop on the tour.

Notice in the clip below how this union thug is trying to speak for the WHOLE Latino community, telling Latinos who differ with him politically to “go home” and saying “you’re not welcome in the Latino community.”

A bus courting Latino voters for Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina pulled up at Napa’s Fuller Park on Wednesday morning expecting to be greeted by local GOP supporters.

There wasn’t a single Fiorina supporter in sight.

Instead, riders with Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles were greeted by a raucous crowd of Democrats chanting support for Fiorina’s Democratic opponent, Sen. Barbara Boxer.

Two men got off the bus, attempted to make a pro-Fiorina speech, then quickly packed it up.

“We were ready to talk to anybody who wanted to listen,” said Thomas Peters, communications director with the American Principles Project, who rode on the bus. “We were shouted down, so we had to leave.”

Peters said he was surprised that no supporters showed up at Fuller Park to greet his bus. This may be attributable to the last-minute scheduling of the Napa stop, he said.

Some folks at the Hacker publication 2600 decided to compile a list of words that are restricted by Google Instant.

Except in extreme and special cases, Google is known for anything but censorship, but as we’ve said before, there are some terms the web giant’s new instant search feature won’t work with.

We understand Google’s intentions; the team over there is trying to make sure that no one sees pornographic or violent results they might fight disturbing unless they really mean to search for them. When asked about this feature a few weeks ago, Google’s Johanna Wright said the restrictions are in place to protect children.

But Google has opened itself up to a potential PR problem, because some of these omissions will be at best bewildering and at worst offensive to particularly sensitive (or progressive) users who don’t understand how Google Instant actually works.

For example, “bisexual” and “lesbian” are among the restricted words. Type them in to Google and the instant search will immediately stop delivering new results. You have to hit enter to confirm, yes, you really do want to know about something in some way related to bisexuals or lesbians.

An amalgamated cybersecurity bill that lawmakers hope to pass before the end of the year includes new powers which would allow President Obama to shut down not only entire areas of the Internet, but also businesses and industries that fail to comply with government orders following the declaration of a national emergency – increasing fears that the legislation will be abused as a political tool.

The draft bill is a combination of two pieces of legislation originally crafted by Senators Lieberman and Rockefeller. One of the differences between the new bill and the original Lieberman version is that the Internet “kill switch” power has been limited to 90 days without congressional oversight, rather than the original period of four months contained in the Lieberman bill.

In other words, President Obama can issue an emergency declaration that lasts 30 days and he can renew it for a further 60 days before congress can step in to oversee the powers.

The new powers would give Obama a free hand to not only shut down entire areas of the Internet and block all Internet traffic from certain countries, but under the amalgamated bill he would also have the power to completely shut down industries that don’t follow government orders, according to a Reuters summary of the new bill.

I am sitting here listening to Derek Loux’s song “One Child” and tearing up at the lyrics.

This song describes who I was at one point. When I was a baby my birth mother gave my little brother Josh and I up for adoption. Some see this as an irresponsible act, one of recklessness, one of abandonment, one of rejection, etc. I see it as an amazing act of LOVE! Adoption is a big deal. A mother has to love their child enough to realize that she cannot give it the love and life the baby needs so she decides to give that child to a family who wants him or her. Granted, there are many people who adopt for the wrong reasons but what about those women who cannot have children? If no one ever gave their babies up for adoption many women wouldnt have children.

Adoption=Love. My birth mother was known to be pretty sexually active with numerous men (Josh and I are only 11 months apart with different birth fathers), she was an alcoholic and we believe she did drugs as well. If my mothers had not given me up who knows where I would be?

Adoption means so much to me! When I am married I want to have so many adopted kids! I really want to adopt within the US because there are so many children needing good homes in this country! I want black babies, white babies, brown babies, downsie babies, asian babies…

Some people do not understand the importance of adoption and I dont get it.

As the Body of Christ it is something we need to do! God wants us to care for the fatherless:

There are thousands of children sitting in abusive, neglectful and sad foster homes waiting for you to adopt them! I was one of those kids! I know firsthand what it is like to sit in a home, living out of a trash bag full of toys and clothes, praying that ‘this family’ would be the right one and being dissapointed when I had to move again. I know what its like to be abused, rejected and neglected in foster homes where the people just wanted a paycheck. I know what it is like to live with a family and ask God for a family. Wouldnt you WANT to make a difference in even ONE CHILD’S LIFE by adopting them!?

When i was 6, I was living with Jere and Julie White (who soon adopted me), and my mom told me that at everty dinner time someone would pray and I would always add, “and God please let this family adopt me and Josh. Amen.” At 6 years old all I wanted was a stable, loving family. There are thousands of kids wanting the same! We have to reach out! We have to take a stand for what is right and take these children people dont want!

If I wasnt single and young I would begin adopting now, but I am so I cant! However, as soon as I am married I want to start adopting!

I so admire John and Tracie Loux, Randy and Kelsey Bohlender, Derek and Renee Loux for all of their faithfulness with adotion! Its because of people like them that kids like me got a good home!

Scientists are closer than ever to rolling out the first malaria vaccine, which could be available in Africa by 2015, a co-inventor of the shot against the killer disease said Tuesday.

Advanced trials of the RTS,S vaccine against falciparum malaria, the deadliest strain of the disease, are under way in seven African countries and going “very well,” said GlaxoSmithKline researcher Joe Cohen, who has been working on developing the vaccine for over 20 years.

“We believe we’ll have the first data coming out of the trials in 2012, and, to make a long story short, we could have the first implementation in Africa between 2015 and 2016,” he told AFP.

Gov. Rick Perry today announced Texas is taking legal action to obtain $830 million in federal funding for Texas schools that the state has been prevented from receiving by U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett’s unconstitutional anti-Texas amendment to the federal emergency education jobs bill (H.R. 1586).

“Texas taxpayers are footing the bill for the education jobs fund, and Texas’ hardworking teachers deserve their share of that money,” Gov. Perry said. “Had the Congressional majority chosen to work for Texas schoolchildren and teachers, instead of playing partisan politics, this money could already be on its way to our school districts.”

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott filed suit in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit after the U.S. Department of Education (ED) wrongfully rejected the state’s application and after numerous attempts by the state to negotiate with federal officials. The suit asserts that ED misinterpreted the Doggett Amendment or the amendment itself places unconstitutional conditions on Texas.

Texas Education Agency Commissioner Robert Scott submitted Texas’ application to the ED for these funds on Sept. 3, making all required assurances that do not violate the Texas Constitution or law. The application was denied, making Texas the only state in the nation rejected by ED.

Despite repeated requests by the governor’s office, ED officials were unwilling or unable to provide the state assurances in writing that ED has the authority to and will reserve the $830 million in funds for Texas. It is unclear whether H.R. 1586 allows ED to reallocate funds after September 24, 2010. Today’s court filing will prohibit ED from diverting the $830 million allocated to Texas during the judicial review process.

In addition to working with state leaders and education officials, many attempts to work with ED officials, and today’s legal action, Gov. Perry continues to support legislation filed by U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Congressman Michael Burgess that would repeal the sections of the misdirected Doggett amendment preventing Texas schools from receiving their funds.

Gov. Perry has also sent letters to school groups and school administrators, urging them to contact Congress to support repeal. The Texas Association of School Administrators has already written a letter asking Congress to remove these provisions.

Gov. Perry remains hopeful that Doggett’s anti-Texas amendment will be repealed, and he will continue to explore every possible avenue to secure the $830 million for the benefit of Texas teachers and schoolchildren.

Thursday afternoon, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry held a hearing to examine the impact of the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulation on farmers and ranchers. During her opening comments, Ag Committee Chair Blanche Lincoln focused on what she considers to be two major issues including EPA’s development of Clean Water Act permit requirements for pesticide applications. “At a time when every American feels anxious about his or her own economic future, our farmers, ranchers, and foresters are facing at least ten new regulatory requirements that will drive up their costs and make it more difficult to compete in the global marketplace. These regulations rely on dubious rationales and, as a consequence, will be of questionable benefit to the goal of conservation and environmental protection,” Lincoln said. “Farmers face so many unknowns – the last thing they need is regulatory uncertainty. Our farmers, ranchers and foresters need clear, straightforward, and predictable rules to live by that are not burdensome, duplicative, costly, unnecessary, or in some cases just plain bizarre.

Despite the fact that some youth offenders are violent and a threat to the community, DC authorities are ramping up a program that tracks youth via GPS tied in to ankle bracelets, thus allowing the youth to return to the community instead of being placed in detention, which had normally been the case.

On one hand, critics believe the program is not helping to reduce violence, which is, after all, the primary reason for detaining violent youth who might be a threat to the community, and on the other hand, some community advocates are concerned that youth are not necessarily violent and who are not in detention might be placed in this program and, because of having the ankle devices, they might become stigmatized unfairly.

The difference in cost for the financially strapped District is in the thousands for detention and only around $300-$400 per month for the GPS monitoring program, although the GPS monitoring has not yet been shown to reduce the incidences of actual youth violence. In the past, DC youth crime has fallen as compared to its peak in the early 80’s. and even as the detention rate decreased, so too did the crime rate. Warren Buffet, liberal Political Class elite with billions of dollars in no-taxable foundations and trusts, is angry at Americans for being angry at the government. Buffet said as much in a CNBC interview where he depicted the “sentiment” of the People who see the increase in federal power and spending as a threat to their livelihood and freedom as “counter-productive.”

Left unsaid was who or what such sentiment is “counter-productive” to, but judging by Warren’s liberalism and his extreme wealth, generated in large part because of his connections with government policies, it is reasonable to believe that his statement could very well have read “this anti-liberalism sentiment is counter productive to the wishes and interests of the liberal Political Class and our hold over this nations leading institutions.”

Buffet thinks, according to the interview, that Americans should just get over this anger and learn to accept what even he refers to as the most amount of stimulus spending ever, more so even than in World War Two. While Buffet argues that we are still in a recession, and with almost 20% of the nation’s workforce in a state of being jobless or being under-employed the People’s Recession is far from over, he blames that mostly on attitude and the fact that “most businesses aren’t as well off as they were before the recession.”

In other words, Buffet is saying that the reason we are still in a recession, despite historically high government spending, is that businesses aren’t as well off- but businesses not being as well off is in fact what a reciession really IS in the first place. It’s like saying “the reason we are in a recession is because we are in a recession” and then adding, “but if people would stop being angry at the policies that are not ending the recession, then we could do more of those policy and, if we can stop being in a recession, we can stop being in a recession.”

Warren Buffet may be a genius when it comes to using his insider knowledge of how government intervention affects the managed market system, what we call state capitalism, but he does not seem to be such a genius at convincing people to go along with these schemes that are making billionaire liberals like himself even more wealthy while more and more average Americans are suffering not only a recession but an outright depression of their financial freedom and health.

Buffet is convinced that we can solve this problem, if only we stop being anrgy.

A local news report about an alleged brawl between liberals and conservatives at a forum in which Harry Reid (the liberal incumbent Senator from Nevada) and Sharon Angle, the conservative candidate challenging Reid in 2010 election, were present for a forum is indicative of the growing chasm between the dominant minority, the liberals of the Political Class, and the conservative majority who are newly awakening to their true political and economic power, and who are fed up with seeing national institutions behave in a manner that serves the agenda of the liberal minority at the expense of the conservative majority.

It is this awakening of the “proletariat”, the classes that have larger numbers but who have little real power, to their potential and to the danger that the dominant minority, the “ruling elite” or “Political Class”, pose to their freedom and their way of life, that portends the unravelling of a society in the days before the old gives way to the new.

The liberal advocate claim that an Angle supporter tried to block one of them from leaving when the liberals decided, after having heard their liberal candidate speak, to show their utter disdain for the People and the other candidate, the conservative candidate, by getting up and walking out in a rude manner. There was no way to verify this story one way of another, but in the end, two of the liberals had to pulled off a conservative, who suffered minor injuries in the scuffle.

The liberal Political Class has not quite yet fathomed the notion that the conservative majority amongst the “Country Class” is no longer willing to accept or allow the dismantling of the constitutional republic that they believe is rooted in a freedom based on virtue, thrift, and independence, and which is not compatible with a socialist welfare state with a dominant liberal minority controlling all the national institutions and enacting laws, policies, and the such against the wishes, consent, and interest of the People.

The attempt to shut down the first amendment and give the federal power the so-called authority to regulate “everything that emits CO2” is an example of how the liberal Political Class thinks that as long as they have the patina of “law” by going through the motions of a “vote” in a chamber that is populated by extremely unpopular legislators, they can make anything they want stick, regardless of the laws of the Nation, including the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights, which necessarily prohibit such acts by ANY legislative, judicial, or executive body in America.

The liberal Political Class is basing its calculus for creating strategies and tactics on the politics of the last century, completely ignoring the new and emerging reality that the People want to govern themselves and are no longer willing to sit idly by while liberal Political Elites try to take every last ounce of their governance, their wealth, and their very dignity from them all for the good of a minority of people, the liberal Political Class, whose sentiments and interests are opposed to the sentiments and interests of the People.

Just how much all of this went into the alleged brawl, which the local liberal media covered mostly from the perspective of the liberal Political Class, is not absolutely clear, but what is becoming more and more clear is that attempting to cut off avenues of peaceful redress and peaceful dissent by shunning, censoring, or trying to outlaw opposition speech is not going to be accepted passively. Pastors Push Back Against IRS Meddling- William R. Collier Jr.- An American Freedomist

What kind of society is more concerned with protecting the state FROM the churches of its land than it is with protecting the churches from the religious or ideological agenda of the state?

The Federal power has long used a mere regulation by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to silence the civic speech of pastors and others within the confines of local churches, although enforcement has tended to favor those churches that host pro-government speakers who embrace the increasing powers of the state as opposed to those who would urge their people not to support measures or candidates who would threaten their freedoms or enact laws and policies that would make it more difficult to practice their faith.

For a long time, the IRS has used the 501 c 3 status like a state-sanctioned license by which and through which a church can operate as a church, although the very essence of religious freedom requires no such pseudo-licensing or regulation of the internal affairs of the church and in fact tend to give government such powers over the church as to endanger religious freedom in general.

Often pastors have felt that they could not jeopardize their “status” with the IRS, by which alone people can take a tax deduction on donations, by speaking on issues or subjects, including the morality of specific candidates or office holders, and having the IRS not only revoke their status but saddle them with a “tax bill” on prior “income”. In short, the IRS has created an extra-constitutional rule that says the contents of a church’s sermons or communications are the criteria by which its status as a non-taxed entity are determined. When or if a church communicates outside of these “rules” its status can be revoked not only into the future, bit even into the past, saddling it with a massive “tax bill”, including penalties and fines, and potentially leading to jail time for its leaders.

This is so far away from the American tradition, and has occurred for so long, that few know how America was founded and the role played by the pulpit. The normal tradition was for every election to be preceded by an “Election Sermon” and for believers to vote their conscience according to their faith and the Word of God. It was the pulpit preaching that was the greatest source of recruits to the Revolutionary Army, often Pastors would lead the men of their congregation to the recruiting tables on the town green or commons and enlist WITH them.

Pastors have had enough and many see that if somebody doesn’t stand up now, this imposition of political hegemony over the church will not stop until Christian churches are forced to allow, accept, and hire into ministry people who practice lifestyles and beliefs that are anathema to that believing community. The secularist doctrine of “separation of church and state” has devolved to the point where it can be called “the doctrine of state supremacy over the church.’

On September 28, 2010 at least 100 brave pastors, out of some 250,000 local churches, will take the bold step of speaking out on the moral character of local and national candidates and officials, with reference to how their lifestyle and their policies line up with Biblical doctrine. These pastors, in conjunction with the Alliance Defense Fund, will tape their preachments and send them to the IRS claiming that their rights to so preach are sacred and cannot be violated and threatening to take legal action against the IRS if it chooses to attempt to interfere.

The time has come for rights that have for too long been ignored or set aside to be re-asserted and for the men and women entrusted with the spiritual care of their congregations to speak on ALL areas of life, all issues, and all leaders with their faith and the Word of their God as the guiding standard by which they measure such people or issues. Whoever says that such speech is not protected, or that to address ANY issue of any kind somehow prevents a group of Americans from being a “church” with all the normal and protected rights of the church is a freedom taker!

The recent case of Lisa Murkowski running as an independent, after losing in the Party primary to Joe Miller in Alaska, is a case in point. As a point of fact, in survey after survey, the nation itself is not polarized, most people most of the time agree about the big issues. Never before in US history has there been such a massive difference between the rulers who run our news media, entertainment industry, our schools, courts, board rooms, and government in general and the average American. The average American tends to be somewhat pro-life, definitely pro-family, for low taxes (even for the financially blessed, even if they themselves are not so blessed), for little to no government or outside interference in their lives or community, and for taking on America’s enemies heads-on without apology or compromise.

While the fringe who do not ascribe to the popular consensus are in the decided minority, the majority of those who are at the top of all the major national institutions are in fact adherents to fringe ideologies that, if exposed on their own merits, almost every American would reject; this is especially true when people who have read the nation’s founding documents compare the hope and promise, and philosophy, contained within them to the utopian scheming and fear-mongering of the fringe ideologies.

Jimmy Carter thinks America is “polarized”: he is wrong. Never before in the past 200 years has the consensus of the People been more clear, nor has it ever been as divided from the Political Class, then today. In 2004 it was announced with great fanfare that Duffield and Associates had been awarded a $5 Million contract to build a public park, centering on an old, historical Tavern, in New castle County, Delaware.

Construction took two years, but even before it was completed a NEW and surprising development occurred:

Tweeds Park became an ideal place for a NEW fitness club building, for an old fitness club, that Duffield and Assoc. built IN THE PARK, which, conveniently, they were contracted to create for $5 million!

Duffield Associates secured $150,000 of taxpayer dollars to handle environmental issues, despite the fact that in previous meetings, notes here http://www.deldot.gov/archaeology/tweeds_tavern/pdf/park_enclosure3.pdf , the EPA had signed off on the overall plan of development with respect to environmental issues- so Duffield was able to get new zoning, take a 12 acre parcel of land from a public park, and get paid twice to do the environmental work they were originally tasked with doing for the site in the first place!

“Duffield was able to obtain $150,000 in grants and matching funds from DNREC and DEDO for use in remediating environmental issues.”

INSTEAD OF OBJECTING to the coziness of a private company sitting on a policy-recommending board, here’s Chris’ input from a meeting… Chris Coons was for adding more costs to taxpayers and placing liens on their homes if need to pay for environmental measures:

“Representative Booth asked where the $5 million figure for tax ditches in Sussex County was derived. Mr. Irelan said that it is the current Sussex Conservation District request for funding. Mr. Piorko clarified that tax ditch organizations in Sussex County raise about $500,000 annually from their members for routine maintenance but the $5 million figure reflects the difference between what is being done and what the needs really are. Mr. Bross and Mr. Irelan stated that the needs are increasing due to higher demands and environmental regulations…..

NOTE- Mr. Bross is from Duffield talking about how, basically, the residents need to pay more for all the environmental work that needs done, which their company gets paid to do.

Mr. Morrill asked of (sic) utility fees could be collected on county tax bills and was told yes. He further asked about non-payments and the potential need to place liens. Mr. Hughes stated that that process would be determined at the State level.

IN RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE DISCUSSION about “tax ditches” and finding ways to bilk homeowners by adding the new costs to their tax bills, coupled with using eminent domain more aggressively and liens on property, Coons did not object-

“Mr. Coons said he was generally comfortable with the process being discussed. It is equitable and sustainable. Mr. Petit de Mange said Kent County was discussing establishing a maintenance district with the Kent Conservation District but those discussions are on hold pending completion of the Task Force.”

Coons was “comfortable” with Duffield’s guy, and others, talking about how to get more money from residents to buy the services of companies like Duffield, but he didn’t seem to have a problem with the whole idea of a private company sitting on a board talking about milking tax payers to pay for their services…

Duffield Associates was retained to assist the Delaware Department of Transportation in planning, designing, and constructing a recreation park that includes the addition of multi-purpose athletic fields and the relocation and restoration of the historic two-story 1796 Tweed’s Tavern. Duffield Associates devised “Green Technologies” for control of stormwater runoff from the park and upland drainage basin, such as reforestation, wetlands creation, bio-retention and bio-swales. This design build park project consists of an historic village, a regional stormwater management facility, three multi-purpose athletic fields, a Tot-lot, parking and access improvements for an adjoining health and fitness complex also designed by Duffield Associates.

WITH THIS IN MIND, why was Duffield asking for and getting $150,000 MORE from public funds for more such work when a PRIVATE business wanted to take a 12 acre parcel from the Park for a “fitness center.”

Centuries Old Log Cabin Structure to Anchor Recreational Site

Hockessin — The Department of Transportation held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, October 27, for the dedication of Tweed’s Park on Valley Road in Hockessin. Also in attendance at the ceremony, held at the site where the historic Tweed’s Tavern will be relocated, were members of the Hockessin Historical Society, local dignitaries, and elected officials.

At a projected cost of approximately $5 million the park will feature recreational facilities to include hiking trails, soccer fields and other athletic fields. Chris Coons Taxed New Castle County to the brink of extinction in just 3 short years as the county executive, raising property taxes for homeowners a total of 58% from the starting price.

In 2007, Chris Coons raised New Castle County Property taxes 5%. In 2008, he raised them by 17%. Finally, in 2009, he raised New Castle County Property Taxes by 25%.

They currently average $500.

In 2008, the property taxes averaged $400. In 2007, the average property tax was $332. In 2006, the property taxes for New Castle County were $315. This means, when Chris Coons took over as County Executive of New Castle County, a county then enjoying surplus budgets, he brought the County to the brink of bankruptcy WHILE raising property taxes in three short years a whopping 58%. Cash-strapped homeowners want county to find other ways of covering budget deficit

When New Castle County Executive Chris Coons unveiled a recommended budget this week that contained a 25 percent property tax increase, nobody in the packed audience blinked.

But on Wednesday — a day after his budget presentation — the news began to sink in with many residents who are alarmed at the amount of the hike, angry with Coons for proposing it and demanding the government find another way to fix its money problems.

“At my house, if we’re strapped, we don’t go out and charge a steak dinner,” said Kevin Brown, a 49-year-old electrician from Newark. “We’ll eat hot dogs and beans. It seems like the county has this appetite. Like they’re still hungry and the tummy is not full.”

Peg Cannister, a 61-year-old New Castle resident who works two jobs to make ends meet, said she has just one question for Coons.

“Where does he think the homeowners are going to get the extra money?” she said. “It seems everything is going up except our paychecks. Let some of these politicians live on our paychecks for a month.”

If County Council approves the 25 percent hike, it would generate an extra $21 million and raise the average annual property tax bill by about $100, to $501.

Coons’ recommended budget doesn’t rely on taxes alone. His plan also calls for broad spending cuts, including slashing $4.8 million in personnel costs through furloughs or layoffs. The unions initially rejected Coons’ plan to furlough workers and freeze their pay, but both sides are continuing to negotiate to avoid layoffs.

Many residents expressed little sympathy for the employees Wednesday, saying the county needs to give them the boot for serious savings to occur. Personnel costs account for three-fourths of the county’s spending.

“I don’t want to see anybody lose their jobs, but nobody put together a parade when my group lost their jobs,” said John Finnegan, who was laid off a year ago from his computer support job at IBM. “I would have done furloughs if given the option.”

Finnegan said he worries about keeping his Bear home while he looks for work, and resents the added financial stress of a tax increase. He thinks the county should offset costs by implementing user fees for parks and libraries, and officials should work harder to eliminate waste and inefficiencies.

“Who do I go to when I need to pay my gas and electric?” Finnegan said. “Where was anybody this winter when I had to keep my house at 58 degrees. In this economy, you just can’t keep taxing people.”

“Our math is iron,” Coons said. “Unless and until we get new sources of revenue authorized from the state and until we achieve savings in personnel, my tools are cutting from personnel or increasing people’s property taxes. The alternative is to shut down public libraries and parks. I did not hear that from the public.”

Curtis Simpson, a retired teacher who lives in the Colonial Heights neighborhood between Wilmington and Elsmere, said he’s most disturbed by the revelation that the proposed tax hike won’t solve the deficit, which is projected to grow to $200 million over the next five years. He said he’s still reeling from a 5 percent tax increase in 2006 and a 17.5 percent increase in 2007.

“I think it’s horrible,” Simpson said. “He just increased our taxes last term and now he’s talking about another. Those of us on a fixed income, we can’t just keep affording this.”

Tonight I spoke with Alan Muller, who runs a site at Green Delaware — and thinks Chris Coons should be defeated. Mr. Muller wrote a blog post about how he had been harassed by Chris Coons for his local political efforts — in actions that Muller terms evil in a small place:

Alan Muller got the attention of the local government authorities, including Chris Coons, with his outspoken activism. He testified at City Council meetings. He wrote action alerts. He wrote blog posts with titles like The unending disgrace that is Coons’ County and CHRIS COONS AT IT AGAIN….AFTER ALAN MULLER.

In short, he was a gadfly. Chris Coons may have regarded this gadfly as something of a pest.

And what do you know? Once local authorities had their chance to get their regulatory hooks into him, they did so with a vengeance.

Harassment as retaliation for political activism

Muller writes:

But we also did something stupid in the circumstances: Bought a historic house threatened with demolition. This opened us up to unending harassment. . . . [T]hey charge us ten or twelve times for the same “offense,” and we are convicted for each “offense.”

Muller believes the harassment was directly tied to his activism. In one post, Muller said: “When Muller spoke out at a County Council meeting about the inadequacy of the proposed County Comprehensive Plan, violation notices were posted on his door within days.”

The county ordinance apparently allows bringing a separate charge every day. So the county could charge a person 365 times for having a cracked windowpane and then deliver these charges all at once, without prior notice, and demand a fine for each “violation.” A minimum fine of $100 is prescribed for each “violation” and “the court shall not suspend the sentence of any person …” Welcome to Delaware!

Abuse of code enforcement power has often been used to harass people. Since, obviously, every property has some technical code violation, anyone could be harassed. While the evil of Coons in abusing these laws is obvious, it is also obvious that the Delaware General Assembly has itself done a great evil by passing such laws for the County, and by failing to maintain the integrity of Delaware’s courts.

The documents support Muller’s contention. Muller links to a court document that contains numerous charges against him for unpermitted work to his roof. Each of the charges contains the same verbiage and makes the same accusations. But each charge is alleged to have occurred exactly one month apart. The first is on March 10, the next is on April 10, the third is on May 10, the next on June 10 — and so on, and so on, and so on.

I told him it looked like they were charging him every month for work that he had done once. He said it was worse than that — they were still coming after him even after he got everything fixed.

We never know when more charges will arrive in the mail. We never know when warrants will be issued for my arrest. I have a criminal “rap sheet” pages and pages long. This is the reward for being an activist in Delaware in these times.

One of the things that amazed me, in speaking to (ALAN) Muller, is that the local government actually proposed issuing pepper spray to its code enforcement officers during Coons’s reign. He told me he had written about it, and reader JD found the link for me:

Some time ago there was a movement before the County Council to give “code enforcement” officers pepper spray, etc, to fend off enraged citizens. We don’t know what happened to that, but it’s a fair indication of the real attitude of the County towards non-wealthy human residents.

The Freepers have mentioned a second instance of someone claiming that Coons retaliated against him for First Amendment activity. This court decision (.pdf) sets forth the complaints of Thomas Neuberger, who said that Coons and others retaliated against him for prosecuting lawsuits against the county, by releasing his private medical information. Will Delaware media investigate to see if his complaints have merit? Does Coons have a pattern of such activity?

Parents, students, and American Patriots who do not buy into a neo-Marxist/anti-colonialism worldview are incensed that a member of the University of Illinois administration is parroting the lies and propaganda used by America’s enemies to recruit people into terror cells.

The administration staff member, from the University of Illinois, denounced college students for chanting “USA, USA, USA!” during a 911 observance at a college football game, accusing what he called “the mostly white” and “privileged” crowd of murder and imperialism.

Reaction from angry alumni has been swift and strong, with many saying they will not be donating any more money to their alma mater until Green is, as one commentator put it, “dealt with by the administration.”

One commentator, embarrassed that the Daily Illini, a student run newspaper, would publish such patently hateful and deceptive comments, said:

“What an embarrassment that the DI actually put this garbage up for people to see. A student newspaper since 1871, and they print this trash that probably wouldn’t even get a hit on the National enquirer…..I think the comments here by others already sum up what a compete jackass you look like Mr. Green….. I hope you enjoy the hits you’re probably getting on this piece, because after this I have a feeling a whole lot of people are not going to be clicking on or reading your nonsense.”

While the Daily Illini is a student run newspaper, Green, who is not a professor but who represented himself as a University Academic Professional, and who is part of the administration, could very well be representing the equivalent of the “editorial policy” of the department he works within as a “research and policy specialist.” Considering his radical anti-colonialism views, which mirror President Obama’s father, the President, and Senate hopeful Chris Coons, the question left unanswered is: does the University of Illinois use taxpayer dollars and parent’s tuition money to fund the sort of research and policy that leads to such anti-American hate speech? Additionally, does such a policy tend to create an environment of anti-Americanism as would encourage students to join terrorist organizations?

Green’s semi-official policy statement read, in part,

“The overwhelmingly white, privileged, Block-I students should be ashamed of their obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk chant, while poverty-drafted members of their cohort fight and die in illegal and immoral wars for the control of oil. University administrators need to eliminate from all events such ‘patriotic’ observances, which in this country cannot be separated from implicit justifications for state-sponsored killing.”

The Freedomist wants to know: is this statement reflective of the policies of the University and would an audit of this man’s work reveal that US taxpayers are paying for this kind of anti-American hate speech?

Beyond this, does YOUR candidate for Congress agree with this statement by David Green or are they willing to cut off funding from this so-called “University” until it rids its administration of terrorist-inspiring hate speech like this?

In his 2000 book The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering, scholar and critic Norman Finkelstein convincingly argues three general points. First, since the 1967 war and Israel’s military alliance with the United States, the Nazi holocaust-a historical event-has become the Holocaust, a narrow and ideologically-driven Zionist interpretation of that genocide that has been used to justify Israeli and American policies, and aggrandize Jewish-American elites in the halls of power. Second, and concurrently since 1967, a Holocaust literature has evolved apart from credible historical scholarship about the Nazi holocaust, the former which is without scholarly merit and is often fraudulent. Holocaust literature, most notably that of Elie Wiesel, has propagated specious notions of the “uniqueness” of the Holocaust and the eternal nature of anti-Semitism, both of which serve to silence criticism of Israel. Third, Finkelstein elaborated the evidence for a “double shakedown” during the late 1990s by which both survivors of the Nazi holocaust and European governments (primarily Switzerland) were exploited by Jewish organizations seeking exorbitant amounts of monetary compensation, while being held to standards far beyond those to which either the U.S. or Israel has been held in relation to the bank holdings of survivors.

Just read this letter written by David Green, and if you have been able to stomach it, I’ll have commentary at the bottom:

The vast majority of 9/11 observances in this country cannot be seen as politically neutral events. Implicit in their nature are the notions that lives lost at the World Trade Center are more valuable than lives lost in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and elsewhere; that the motives of the 9/11 attackers had nothing to do with genuine grievances in the Islamic world regarding American imperialism; and that the U.S. has been justified in the subsequent killing of hundreds of thousands in so-called retaliation.

The observance at Saturday’s football game was no different. A moment of silence was followed by a military airplane flyover; in between, Block-I students chanted “USA, USA.” This was neither patriotism nor remembrance in any justifiable sense, but politicization, militarism, propaganda and bellicosity. The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all, not just the most (falsely) “patriotic.” Athletic planners should cease such exploitation for political purposes. They might at least consider how most Muslim students, American or otherwise, would respond to this nativist display; or better, Muslims and others that live their lives under the threat of our planes, drones and soldiers.
