Analysts Believe Ethiopia is Using Iranian Drones in Battle for Tigray

Ethiopia is in the middle of a civil war in the region of Tigray, which also includes foreign troop invasions by its neighhbor, Eritrea.  In response, Ethiopia is using drones to comabt the ‘insurrectionists’ and those drones appear to be Iranian drones, the Mohajer-6 drone to be exact.  This drone cut its teeth, in part, over the skies of Libya and Syria.

Citing images shared on the internet, several media outlets have reported that the Ethiopian National Defence Force is using Iranian-made Mohajer-6 combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as it fights a civil war.

Who took the photos remains unknown. However, they show the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visiting an airport with what appears to be the drone in the background. The fact-checking website Bellingcat and some open-source researchers independently geo-located the images, indicating that they were taken at the government-controlled Semara Airport.

Semara is the capital city of the country’s Afar province, which abuts the Tigray region where government forces are battling the anti-government Tigray Defense Forces (TDF).

Coming Soon, Women Being Drafted for War in America

The Senate Armed Services Committee approved a proposed language change to the Selective Service law from men being required to sign up for the potential draft to men AND women being required to sign up for the potential draft, the writing is on the wall for American women.  You too will be drafted if the DNC has its way, in the name of ‘equality.’

The Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday approved a language change in the $768 billion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would expand the “Selective Service”—the oxymoronically named requirement under threat of imprisonment for 18-year-old males to submit their names to a national registry of potential military conscripts—to include the female of the species.

As Ella Lubell noted here yesterday, among those cheering this development is the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), whose lawsuit challenging the male-only draft was denied a hearing last month by a Supreme Court that nonetheless signaled its potential interest should Congress decline to change the law. “Men-only registration actually impedes women’s full participation in civic life,” the ACLU maintains.

It’s worth pausing on that logic, particularly in light of what that “L” stands for. Is “participation” really the right word to describe being coerced by the state…

MOSCOW — Russia’s defense minister has voiced concern about the Taliban seizing a large number of weapons, including air defense missile systems, after sweeping over Afghanistan.

Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday the Taliban has captured hundreds of combat vehicles along with a number of warplanes and helicopters.

He expressed a particular worry about the Taliban obtaining more than 100 man-portable air defense missile systems.

Shoigu noted that Afghanistan’s refugee problem is a cause for grave concern.

The Russian defense chief voiced hope that the Taliban would move to form an inclusive government that would include all groups in the country.

Taliban spokesperson asks U.S. to stop encouraging Afghans to leave the country

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said Tuesday that the militant group will stop Afghans from fleeing the country, promising safety to those who aided Western efforts amid fears of Taliban reprisal, writes Forbes.

Mujahid said Afghans would no longer be allowed to travel to the airport in Kabul, and reportedly asked the U.S. stop evacuating citiziens because “we need their talent,” per Forbes. “We are not in favor of allowing Afghans to leave,” he reportedly said, per Axios. Mujahid also told those who worked with the U.S. that “we have forgotten everything in the past,” suggesting they were safe in Afghanistan, and insisted the Aug. 31 withdrawal deadline was not up for negotiation. Since those remarks, President Biden confirmed the U.S. will stick to its end-of-month target.

Biden Just Handed the Taliban Hundreds of De

PGC – Thanks to the efforts by Joe Biden to assure the collapse of Afghanistan doesn’t happen too close to the 2022 elections (which would be bad for the DNC, the CCP knockoff import from China masquerading as an American political party), the Taliban now have hundreds of death-dealing, high-tech missiles it inherited from the Afghan government it just defeated thanks to the hasty American retreat.

Taliban May Have Inherited ‘Hundreds’ of Missiles From Former Afghan Government

The Taliban, its al Qaeda ally, and the renegade ISIS-K terror group may have inherited hundreds of deadly shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles from the fallen Afghan government’s weapons depots, experts say.

The exact number of missiles and their origin, kind, age and viability are hard to come by. A 2019 report by the RAND Corp. think tank put the total at an alarming 4,500, but according to experts, that figure is unreliable, and almost certainly represents the number of MANPADS—Man-portable air defense systems—acquired by successive Kabul regimes going back decades. It’s highly unlikely that Washington supplied any to Kabul, experts explained. Any left today likely represent a fraction of those acquired by the Taliban regime overthrown by the U.S. in 2001, or its predecessors.

Still, if even a fraction of MANPADS fell into the hands of the Taliban, Al-Qaeda or ISIS-K, an Islamic State faction active in Afghanistan and elsewhere nearby, that would be…

US Claims It’s Protecting Afghanis By Scrubbing the Internet of the Afghan War

PGC – The United States State Deparment has made it clear it is attempting to delete from the  Internet the history of the Afghan War in the name of protecting the Afghanis who stood with the US against the Taliban.  The move could be on its face just what it says it is, but given the nature of an emboldened state that now has the full coopreation of the massive corpostates that support and enable it, and even move coervcively against its opponents in ways the state itself can’t, one should be paying close attention to attempts by this government to gaslight Americans into being whatever the state wants to believe about what actually happened in Afganistan.

The US Is Removing Records of Its War in Afghanistan From the Internet

America’s war in Afghanistan is vanishing from the internet. Federal agencies are wiping websites of videos, articles, and photos and saying it must be done to protect the lives of the Afghans left behind who may face retaliation from the Taliban.

State Department Spokesperson Ned Price told the Associated Press that the process of scrubbing online evidence of Afghans working with coalition forces “is of the utmost importance” and that State’s policy is “only to remove content in exceptional situations like this one. In doing so, department personnel are following records retention requirements.”

The United States Agency for International Development—the agency in charge of much of the more than $100 billion America spent reconstructing Afghanistan—is also purging records. “Given the security situation in Afghanistan, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our staff, partners, and beneficiaries, we are reviewing USAID public websites and social media…

No Draft for Women, Say GOP Senators in Response to DNC Amendment

PGC – The consequence of insisting that there is no real physiological difference between men and women is that eventually women will be expected to do the same things that men are expected to do,, not just that men are expected to do some of the things women are currently expected to do,

One of the duties of men in most societies throughout human history is to be the ones that die first when the lands come under attack.  We send the men to protect the women, the children, the elderly, and those not able to fight.  It’s not a western thing, it’s not a white thing, it’s an almost near-universal thing,  For better or worse, this is the overwheming tradition of humanity.

Now, as the narrative becomes the institutions, as the theoretical assumption that there are no real physiological differences between male and female become instutitions and change existing institutions, it is only a matter of time before that society expects women to face the physical threat of any potential enemy in the same way as the man, despite the fact that she is not nearly physiologically equipped for such a task and would be broken even if she survived the war.

GOP Senators are trying to either pre-emptively cut off the eventual drafting of women in the military or grandstanding a threat that might not, yet, be credible.  As a DNC-held Senate Committee recently passed an amendment that would do just that, make women eligible for the draft, perhaps this is more the former than the latter.

PGC – For a long time, the governments of the West seemed to openly concede the whole digital social media space to the rest of the world, and nation-states such as China and Russia entered into the fray with great enthusiasm and, more importantly, more direct capital investments, training and housing armines of social media operatives to tilt the narrative balance in the favor of their particular interests.

The battle for the hearts and minds of humanity is becoming more and more centered around what emanates from that device we should hardly even call a phone at this point.

Perhaps because early on the platforms themselves were predominantly American and secondarily European when the phenomenon first rose, governments of the West reiled on the national origin of the platforms to assure that whoever was operating that platform would protect the interests of the nations of their origin.  Perhaps early on that might have been the case, before social media become the lucrative cash cow that it has now become, before it became the fundamnetal filter of ‘legitimate news’ for the vast majority of humans on this planet, especially in certain countries such as China, the United States, and Russia.

Now, social media is beholden to a world empire that lives outside the parameters of the nation-states they come from, and they have offices in almost every country in the world, and every country will protect their physical assets should citizens rise up in rebellion against it.  It’s a strange relationship in that one, social media, relies on physical protection from the other, the host nation-state, but the other, the host nation-state, also relies on social media for ese of control.  It’s an uneasy partnership, one fraught with many attempts to sabotage and usurp the other as families derive their power still largely from the new wealth, social media, or the old, political business partnering.

In this backdrop, the state itself is vulnerable to the de facto world empires it hosts, especially where the bulk of its commerce and public discourse is taking place, centralized, easy to track, easy to understand, predict, manage.  It’s a hard easy button to walk away from, even when that button might also work to undermine your very sovereignty for one of its host nations, or potential host nations, offers more gold in exchange for its controlling services.

So now the Unted States and other Western European nations are about ready to test the loyalty of the social media empires that have physical space in your lands.  Facebook, will you protect America from her enemies?  It could be as simple as that, but not likely.  It will be offering contracts to these social media companies to train American social media soldiers to combat the Chinese and Russians alone, and then the nudge to suggest they also make sure the American trolls get preferential treatment.

This should be fun to watch unfold.

He cites cyberattacks, misinformation and interference around Brexit and the Trump election as examples where Russia and China have successfully manipulated everyday tech like social media to destabilise the US and Europe.

The top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee is pressuring the Biden administration to limit upgrades to the nuclear arsenal that military brass and experts consider vital.

Armed Services chairman Adam Smith (Wash.) on Monday sent a letter to the White House that asks President Biden to reduce the United States’ nuclear arsenal as he considers the 2023 defense budget.

“When asked about the requirements for all of these systems, the Department of Defense quickly points to Russian and Chinese investment in nuclear weapons, which I fear leads us down the path to a newly invigorated and very dangerous arms race,” Smith wrote. “The last decade has taught us, painfully, that we cannot afford to continue adding new requirements, capabilities, and platforms, and expect that they will be delivered on time and within budget.”

Autonomous Drones with a Licence to Kill

PGC – Militaries around the world are wrestling with relying on artificially intelligence powered autonomous machines, be they robots or drones, or even robot drones, to determine the appropriate time to apply lethal force and the time to show restraint.

In our reality of power, framed as it is around coercive-based nation-state models of organizing, the countries themselves not only must consider the ramifications of autonomous non-human killers for their population at large, but what their decision will mean as far as meeting the threat of competing nation states.

The very model at large of nation-statism compels these entities to need to seek the more lethal-producing patterns over the more citizen-autonomoy-patterns for fear that their competitors will be more effective at killing than theirs, and thus leave them vulnerable to absortion by those around them.

It’s a nation eat nation world out there folks, and against this backdrop what we mostly have are the nations that are able, and more and more can, to develop inhouse models of effective non-human autonomous killing platform are compelled to do so, for if they fail to do so, no matter the risk, or the backlash from the people they allegedly serve, they are almost sure to lose to the nation-states around them if they fail to act now.

This writer has little doubt that the United States form of people that do such things is busy building more and more effective autonomous killers to be run by ai deep learners that are more and more efficent at producing the desired desults of the humans that began them.  This writer also has little doubt that the ability to create such tools is already available for the motivated poorest of nation-states, even for a small group of people who want to build up their defenses among themselves.

A world of the future could involve printing ai-fortified-to-autonomous guardians of very types who constantly sweep the skies, the seas, the forests, the boundaries, looking for threats.  The world could be peppered with hundreds of thousands of city-states, all more or less equally capable of sending out drone hordes to make conquest prohibitively expensive

This could be a world where small scale vanquishes the large scale for a significant season of human history to come, though eventually the large scale will come roaring back, leaving this age to come a golden age for the ages to come after that.

It might sound like the stuff of science fiction but killer robots, sometimes called “slaughterbots”, are already a reality.

Last year, STM Kargu-2 drones hunted down targets in what might be the first instance of artificial intelligence killing on its own initiative.

The revelation came after years of experts warning about the dangers of letting machines decide who lives and dies in combat.

Now a UN conference on so-called Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (LAWS) is taking place in Geneva to create new international regulations to stop killer robots being allowed to make their own decisions.

The Russian delegate argued no new rules are needed, but others disagree, saying machines shouldn’t be given the power to choose targets themselves.

“Humans must apply the rules of international humanitarian law in carrying out attacks so weapons that function in this way complicate that,” Dr Neil Davison of the International Committee of the Red Cross told BBC Radio’s Today programme.

“Our view is that an algorithm shouldn’t decide who lives or dies.”
