GETTR, the Safe Haven for Conservatives, Has a Heavy Ban Hammer

It appears the so-called safe space for conservstives, specifically Trump conservatives, Gettr, is having a hard time managing its content creators.  From the beginning, it was promised that Donald Trump would build a social media answer to all the baddies, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube.  That became a blog site that Trump sometimes posts stuff on.  Later, we heard about Gettr.  Initially, it was thought to literally be a Trump-led project, but, in fact, it had no real affiliation with Trump at all, it was just a social media platform that marketed itself as a free speech social media platform specifically friendly to Trump supporters, especiallly those that had recently been axed from one of the baddies, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

The recent Gabs by Roger Stone, another free-speech-promising platform, this one billed as an alternative to Twitter, suggest that the site is using its power as a gatekeeper not unsimilarly to how the baddies  use their position of power advantage as gatekeepers of little accountability to the ones they serve.

Roger Stone is complaining about the free speech platform, Gettr, silencing him, censoring him, because, he alleges, he said something bad about the Gettr founder, Jason Miller, as well as Steve Bannon.  Given what Trump has said about Bannon in the past (he essentially called him an amateur, he threw Bannon under the bus hard), one is doubtful that even Trump would have that much of a problem with anyone talking smack about Bannon.  This appears to be about protecting a certain faction’s particular useful narrative, and that faction might just be a Bannon faction.  Regardless of what Jason Miller represents, making factional gatekeeping decisions makes you one of the baddies, sir.

Of course, all of this suppses Stone is being totally truthful and transparent in what he relates as his version for why Gettr has censored him. The story itself though is telling in that one member of a larger faction, the Trump faction, seems willing to cast into doubt the legitimate credentials of Gettr as a bastion for conservative safe-spacism.  This would not be done lightly, even by Stone, so that leads me to believe there was some degree of real throttling of this man’s voice on Gettr because he broke a factional narrative, this one being, at the very leas,t the Jason Miller faction, which might just be Jason Miller alone, given factional power, so to speak, by share weight of his controlling of the filter on the Gettr platform.

Gettr, to me, is yet another example of a good idea for a group of people, say, a faction, to get behind, the idea of building a people-reaching free speech platform to counter the controlling social media platforms we now have, and a few people with deep pockets or relationships with networks of people with deep pockets, slap together some stuff to co-opt the idea and turn it into a quick money maker and/or prestige builder that ends up being an unprofessional cringe fest that implodes within a couple or so years (if not sooner) leaving everyone highly discouraged at ever trying the actually good idea ever again.

Let’s hope Gettr doesn’t discourage others for finding way to build such social media platforms, but don’t let’s make them just safe spaces for conservatives, make them actually as extremely free speech as human to human contact on a digital platform can be.

Trumpist Gettr Social Network Continues To Speed Run Content Moderation Learning Curve: Bans, Then Unbans, Roger Stone

Excerpt:

Remember Gettr? That’s the Trumpist social network run by former Trump spokesperson (and vexatious lawsuit filer) Jason Miller that promised to be supportive of “free speech.” As we point out what happens with every new social network that jumps into the space with promises to “support free speech!” and “not censor!” before long they will begin to realize content moderation is required to keep your site running — and soon they discover that content moderation will involve difficult choices. And, sometimes, it involves making mistakes.

Of course, whenever Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or whoever else note that they made a “mistake” with a content moderation decision and reverse it, there are always some people who insist it couldn’t possibly be a mistake and must be [insert conspiratorial reason here]. So I find it hilarious that on Wednesday, Gettr got to experience all this as well. First, Trump buddy and admitted “dirty trickster” Roger Stone went on Gab — another such social network — to whine about how he was “censored” by Gettr, claiming it was because he had made what he believed were disparaging remarks about Miller (and Steve Bannon).

TikTok Accused of Allowing Racist, Phobic Content by Social Non-Profits

China’s favorit American data harvester, TikTok, has largely slid under the radar these past few years as its risen to be one of the major social media players in America alone.

Well, with success comes big targets, and , it would seem, the honeymoon is over for TikTok.  Now, the Cancel Culture world is coming for TikTok.  Soon, there will be articles talking about TikTok funnels leading to people literally becoming the evil of whatever the worst evils you could ever imagine a people to be.

This should be very amusing to watch, the uneasy dance of the frenemies, DNC America and CCP China, jabbing here and helping there.  How TikTok is given protection or not given protection in the DNC controlled media will be another bellweather to determine where the DNC understands its power relevant to the CCP really is.

While social media has provided a lot of benefits to people’s lives, it has also given some truly unsavory characters a platform that they would not have otherwise been able to take advantage of. A good example of this can be seen on TikTok which ended up becoming a bit of a haven for various people that wanted to spew racist rhetoric and created content that propagated more of the same.TikTok pledged to make it so that hate speech and other related forms of content would not be given the same kind of platform that they have had previously, but with all of that having been said and now out of the way it is important to note that things are not really going all that successfully on that particular front. A study by Institute for Strategic Dialogue looked at over a thousand TikTok videos, and the researchers noted that a third of them contained content that promoted white supremacy or some other kind of racist and hate filled ideology that the world would most definitely be…

YouTube Pays Creators Billion in 3 Years

Youtube pays its YouTube creators over $30 billion over three years, or, if you want to put it another way, they paid a $30 billion budget on a massive amount of content that will continue to make them residual revenue for months, even years.

The question is this, why risk putting up money to pay for big budget films when you can get people to create content with minimal upfront investment on your part?

Alphabet‘s (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL) YouTube is sometimes forgotten as a formidable player in the streaming content category. Industry giants Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) are getting most of the spotlight.

Nevertheless, YouTube maintains a large share of viewership hours. Its business model is different from Netflix and Disney, primarily because nearly all of the content on YouTube is created by users, otherwise known as creators. Let’s look at how the services compare and what the growth of YouTube could mean for Netflix and Disney.

A student created a third eye for the phone obsessed. This invention looks like it came out of Black Mirror.

If you are always on your phone, then Minwook Paeng probably thought of you when he created The Third Eye. A robotic prosthetic eye is ttached to the user’s head to detect obstacles while thy scroll through TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and their private messages.

Third Eye opens automatically when the wearer tilts down their heads. A warning buzz is emitted if an obstruction is detected. In this way, the virtual-obsessed can stay online regardless of hazards offline.

His device was developed at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College in London, where he studied Innovation Design Engineering. This year’s theme was “phono sapiens” which was a satire of modern-day humans and their obsession with their smartphones.

“The smartphone has permeated into modern life so deeply that it’s impossible to deny the evolution of phono sapiens,” Paeng told Dezeen.

OnlyFans Rejects Banks, Reverses Sex Ban Decision

Just yesterday we wrote about OnlyFans deciding to end its sexually explicit content in light of the financial institutions, the banks, using their considerable monopolistic power advantage to threaten OnlyFans with depersonalization if they didn’t.

After they made the announcement, the CEO made it clear this was not an inhouse decision, it was a banking decision.  The backlash against OnlyFans itself however, did not relent.  Even the progressives took up the mantle under the guise of honoring and respecting “sex workers.”

OnlyFans saw the writing on the wall, that with or without the banks if your users were not having it, you’d for sure be done if you continued down this banking-preferred path.  Just a few days after making the announcement,  OnlyFans is now reversing its decision and letting the sex content stay, and even letting more to be created on its platform.

It is not clear how OnlyFans will get around the tyrannical will of the banking powers, but at this point they are left but with little choice to try, as they will surely die if they continue with the ban, so what do they have to lose anymore to try to find an alternative financial house to allow them to complete transactions on their platform?

OnlyFans Loses Its Sex Stuff Thanks to the Banks, not the CEO?

Onlyfans came rouring onto the scene the last couple of years with Bella Thorne igniting the fire when she made over $1 million in less than 24 hours on the app by offering nudes of herself to paying fans, called paypiggies in the industry vernacular.

Not to be outdone, the Cash Me Ouside Girl also made a million dollars offering nudes to paypiggies.  Before that, and after that on a much larger scale, if you are a woman and reasonably attractive (or imagine that you are), dreams of OnlyFans gold was sure to enter your mind.  At least it seemed that way.

The app set off a whole new cottage industry that threatened conventional sources of sex stuff like pornhub and others.  It created an outlet for people (mostly women, though not exclusively) to exploit themselves rather than being exploited by others.  Now, a woman could offer her nude services to a discrete clientel online and get ALL of the profit (well, sans the bit the app itself claimed) instead of only a small payment that allowed the producers to make far more money from her nude and sex services than ever she could.

The banks have declared that having a small monpopoly on the financial markets is hardly a danger to people at all, as of course they will use their considerably state-protected monopolistic advantage fairly and equally to all who simply obey the law.  That, my friends, was a lie, and one that OnlyFans is exposing, though it’s not the first such proof that banks have decided to use their considerable state-protected financial industry monopoly to punish people who behave immorally according to  their particular unaccountable standards of morality.

So the banks have decided that women, and even men, yes, men too, having  the capacity to sexually exploit themselves and getting almost all the profit from that exploitation is just outside of their allowable moral standards.  So they shook down OnlyFans and gave them an offer they couldn’t refuse.  If they didn’t evnd the nude sex stuff, their ability to exist as a company would be over, as the cabal of banking would freeze them out of being able to process payments.

This is not at all a moral defense of sexually exploiting yourself for money, but it is a defense of a pluralistic society having the capacity to act on their preferences without being coercively manipulated by monopolistic corporations.  First they came for the self-sex-exploiters, then they came for me, if you get my drift (though they came for a WHOLE LOT of people before they ever got around to shutting down the self-sex-exploiters).

After OnlyFans received the offer they could not refuse, they announced that the nude sex stuff’s gots ta go.  As could be predicted, what followed next was nothing but outrage and scorn at OnlyFans, a company that now totters on the edge of existence itself, having ridden the great wave of viral for the past year.  The CEO of OnlyFans quickly came out and spilled the beans on the offer that could not be written, the offer that came from the cabal of banks that decided this was just not morally acceptable, and their capacity to destroy us economically is all the justification they need to use that state-protected monpolistic advantage to force their morality on the rest of us.

Is it legal for the banks to do this in the alleged land of the Bill of Rights?  Possibly so.  This is why some have suggested creating a market bill of rights to reign in the out-of-control power of the monopolies that have almost all demonstrated a willingness to use their state-protected monppolistic advantage to deny basic rights that not even the government can deny.  Whether the govenrment approves of it or not, this is de facto facsism, where the state uses market power to violate our rights legally because it’s not, at present, illegal for companies to do so.

If we are to be a people ever again, we must have an identity that does not destroy the multiplicities of identities our diverse lands possess.  That identity is the Bill of Rights.  And if we are to fulfill the promise that such standards offer, it is time to extend these rights to the marketplace as well as the government square, else fascism will continue to reign in this land and the Bill of Rights will continue to die until we all look around and realize this diversity has no unity anymore, and then, well, nations such as that implode or are taken over by stronger nations.

The OnlyFans censorship by our banking institutions should be the final wakeup call for us all, the proverbial canary in the coal mine that just let you know there’s poison in the air, something must be done.

OnlyFans founder blames ‘unfair’ banks for ban on explicit sexual content

Banks are to blame for OnlyFans’ ban on sexually explicit content, according to the online subscription service’s founder.

The platform, which is popular among sex workers, recently announced new rules coming into effect in October that prohibit “any content containing sexually explicit conduct”, though non-sexual nudity will still be permitted.

Initially the London-based company said the move was being introduced due to pressure from financial partners, leading some to assume payment processors Mastercard and Visa were behind it.

However, chief executive Tim Stokely has revealed it was “unfair” banks who prompted the change over concerns about “reputational risk”.

He named three banks – the UK’s Metro Bank, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of New York Mellon.

“The change in policy, we had no choice — the short answer is banks,” he told the Financial Times.

“We pay over one million creators over 300 million dollars every month, and making sure that these…

I was distraught,” she told the New York Post. The website, www.allisonhuynh, showcased lawsuits and salacious details about a former

Ethiopia Looks to Nationalize Social Media

PGC – Ethiopia has announced it intends on building its  own social media platforms to prevent silicon valley from determining what is truth and what is good.   They are not the first to make this move.  China was the first, and they certainly won’t be the last.  The reason why has to do with the personal needs of the leaders of the nation-states these platforms are now controlling by controlling their public discouse.  These individuals saw the writing on the wall back in 2020.

When Facebook and Twitter moved to check the social media access of the American President of the United States, many leaders around the world, even if they might openly celebrate the move, took serious pause and asked themselves this question, “How much power do these international social media companies have to affect our national sovereignty?”

Well, that’s the dishonest question they ask themselves, the one that preserves their nobility and prevents them from seeing the self-centered motivation behind the concern.  Every leader looks into the mirror and sees Alexander the Great. It’s hard to be Alexander the Great when a power that is located in foreign lands has the ability to alter your political fortune by the particular ideology or morality it chooses to enforce upon your lands.

I predicted at the time that nations would be moving in short order to nationalize their social media platforms.  China is far ahead of the rest of the world in this regard, having rejected American Silicon Valley expansion and choosing to develop their own CCP-approved social media platforms inhouse.  Their social media platforms are already nationalized.

Outside of China,  my suspiicion was the nations that would choose such a route would be the less powerful ones, just as I thought it would be the less powerful nations willing to take more dramatic chances with cryptocurrencies (which we see in El Salvador, which has made it the legal tender of their land).  Ethiopia is just such a nation, and it has a real need to control narratives as it is in the midst of a civl war that feeds on the extreme fears and hopes of peoples who have suffered authentic injustices.

Ethiopia has been battling with Facebook over what it censors and what it does not, so now, it’s had enough.  It has decided to develop its own social media network, something well within the capacity of most nation-states, even the smaller ones.  The biggest expense in social media is in the servers and the human monitors.  If your platform is serving only one nation, your cost of operation goes down to levels that allow almost any nation-state, and many larger free associative groups (if they so chose, and they will,in time, they will) can afford to develop and support.

The leadership of Ethiopia might not be proponents of free speech themselves, but they are the first of a small few among many to follow among nation-states to take the route that they are choosing now.  The balkanization of the internet is coming, and Silicon Valley’s hubristic assumptions it could play God with morality and truth is to blame for creating the conditions that made it worth the investment of nation-stations to blunt.  Nation-states are led by individuals, individuals that look in the mirror and see Alexander the Great, a man that would never tolerate the gordian knot of distant power controlling nation-state public discourse and opinion, that’s Alexander’s job, not yours.

Alexander would march to the Silicon Valley and shell it to a fine powder.  Short of that, he would build walls to keep it out, even if it meant he had to build new digital roads within.

Ethiopia to build local rival to Facebook, other platforms

ADDIS ABABA, Aug 23 (Reuters) – Ethiopia has begun developing its own social media platform to rival Facebook (FB.O), Twitter (TWTR.N) and WhatsApp, though it does not plan to block the global services, the state communications security agency said on Monday.

Ethiopia has been engulfed since last year in an armed conflict pitting the federal government against the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), which controls the Tigray region in the country’s north.

Supporters of both sides have waged a parallel war of words on social media.

The government wants its local platform to “replace” Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and Zoom, the director general of the Information Network Security Agency (INSA), Shumete Gizaw,

said.

Shumete accused Facebook of deleting posts and user accounts which he said were “disseminating the true reality about Ethiopia”.

International human rights groups have criticized the Ethiopian government for unexplained shutdowns to social media services including Facebook…

Substack Moves to Insulate Itself from Corpowoketarianz Hate by Accepting Bitcoin as Payment

They may also have to make decisions about whether to keep up or flag content that both praises and criticizes the group, with potentially perilous consequences for those posting it.
