The imfamous case of a “family vlogger” (8 Passengers, if you want to look it up on YouTube) who happens to be Mormon, but who is a wacko in my opinion, is being used to smear all Mormons. It was, I believe, Mormons who kept calling the authorities for the abuse of her kids.
More broadly, it’s being used to smear religion in general. One YouTuber opined about all their talk about homosexuality being a sin, long a staple in most of the Abrahamic religions and many other tribal religions, and said “religions start a lot of wars.” This is bunk, considering the evils perpetuated in the name of atheistic Communism. Instead of being focused on stopping child abuse, many are using this to attack religious freedom through blood libel claims against the faith community, as if all religious people are child abusers and non-religious people are the saints who can do no wrong.
The abuse is not for the faint hearted to see, and see it one can, because this couple filmed their mistreatment of their own 6 children for clicks and made MILLIONS of dollars from this. Their connection to a lady who ran a Mormon-based family counseling service, called Connections, only made things worse until a child escaped, with duck tape wrapped tightly around his feet, injured and starving, to a neighbor’s house.
The mom and the counselor are in jail, but not the father, who had been kicked from the family home perhaps a year ago. But what the reactions have been is anything but stellar, with a focus more on using this story as cudgel against religious people than the abuse.
Often, when bad things happen, bigotry is exposed. This includes anti-Mormon bigots (I’m not Mormon and consider it heretical, but I also don’t smear the religion), and anti-religious bigots who in their heart would want to persecute and outlaw religions if they could. A lot of this is being done under the rubric of their altrainbow alt-gendered ideology, which most religions, in their view, cannot and will not endorse.
In essence, if you follow these people’s mental gymnastics and sophistry, you can either be free to fly your altrainbow freak flag high and expect constant applause and approval, OR you can have your religious freedom, but you can’t have both. Any ideology that cannot survive and thrive or feel comfortable in its own skin, metaphorically speaking, is not a good ideology.
This goes for religions, too. Certain “versions” of some religious systems loosly associated with Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and the such, became imperialistic toward outsiders who themselves became infidels or barbarians who needed to be conquered and enslaved, for their own good. But, aside from places like Kashmir or certain Jihadist sects, most of the imperialistic sentiment directed at savage barbarians is practiced by the non-religious, usually altrainbow, crowd against the faith community.
I utilize an ideological or ideational system for life and governance called “Upadarianism”, and one of the main tenets is that an ideological system that cannot be used for your benefit and the benefit of groups of people who choose to utilize it, without imposing itself on anyone, is not to be trusted. Or, we might say, “If your ideology cannot be beneficial to you if all you do is practice it yourself, then it is perfectly useless to society.
Our focus is on what we are for and not what we are against. We aren’t AGAINST anyone in the altrainbow spectrum doing their thing and living in peace, and nor do we reject their humanity. We don’t concur that one should defy God’s blueprints and laws regarding any aspect of our human actions and interactions. Nor do we concur that such laws, which are found in Scripture and millenia of Christian moral orthodoxy, that such laws don’t exist or apply today. We are FOR living our lives as individuals and in community with others of the same mind, all following our own beliefs and convictions.
What we see with all these knee-jerk anti-Mormon and anti-religious bigots is that instead of being FOR their altrainbow ideology, they seem to believe that even not LIKING the altrainbow stuff is, as one said, “unacceptable”, though he tried to also say that it was OK but “these people went too far.”
Almost all of these reactions focus as much or more on the statements this family vlogger and her business partner have made about sexuality and marriage from their traditional Mormon perspective than the child abuse. They are far more offended ar harmless opinions about marriage and sexuality which have nothing to do with the abuse at hand than the abuse against children.
The altrainbow progressives and their shrill extremist wokatarianism are AGAINST anyone who doesn’t positively embrace and participate in their altrainbow lifestyles. They show more being AGAINST religious people than they are FOR just living that life and realizing not everyone has to approve, agree, like, or participate in their ways, even IF they think their lifestyle is literally “how I was born” or “what I was truly born to be.”
A common theme is that your religion is bad if it doesn’t salute the altrainbow flag, and if you dare to say something is a sin that some people think is perfectly fine. Thus, this horrible situation exposes the rampant anti-religious bigotry that exists, coupled with authoritarianism, that we should all be concerned about.
