Around 60% of Americans think civil war is somewhat likely or very likely. This is a lot and to some, including Tim Pool, pictured above, it is scary.
But are we headed for some sort of civil war or upheaval in this country?
In his landmark book “Anamtomy of Revolution”, Crane Brinton laid out signs of impending revolution and one of the major signs: people, including the intelligentsia, openly say they think it is inevitable. While such numbers are concerning, they are not necessarily a guarantee of results. In other words, the potential for upheaval may be there, but it’s not a certainty.
Revolution or civil war in this country lack many elements, chief among them being that no coherent opposition and no singular leadership cadre had emerged to facilitate the pent-up rage and turn it into action. The opposition is disorganized, rent-seeking, celebrity worshipping, and feckless. The opposition has no cogent narrative to counter the establishment. There is no real sign the opposition can even operate and compete outside the technological and economic ecosystem controlled by that establishment. There is not underground, no alternative culture, not opt-out resources.
The kind of upheaval we face is a civilizational collapse, which could take decades to sort itself out. In the grand scheme of civilizational decline, all the signs of revolution or civil war are present, but the fire in the belly needed to rise up just isn’t there. This is how civilizations die, slowly and painfully.
What we should be looking for isn’t a revolution or a civil war, what we should be looking for is the emergence of an internal proletariat, people who opt out and drop out, a withdrawal and inward focus with people who reject the zeitgeist of the hour and step out of the flow of the current system. This withdrawal of an internal proletariat who simply find gaps for freedom wherein they can build a culture that is diametrically opposed to the prevalent culture is the burgeoning phase of a new civilization.
There are too few people, less than 1%, initially who are willing to join the ranks of an alt-culture and opt out of the socioeconomic and sociocultural zeitgeist in totality. Likewise, there are too few people who would be willing to risk all for some revolution or civil war, even if they are alarmed at how things are going.
Basically, there isn’t going to be any kind of civil war or revolution in this country any time soon. Authoritarianism will likely grow and the only path of escape is to find and join an inner proletariat who have the courage, the heart, and the discipline to opt out as much as they can, albeit peacefully.
The Democratic Party leaders want a monopoly of power to enrich monopoly corporations and politicos. They are not, as some claim, “anti white.” Democratic Party leaders aren’t really against white people or whiteness. Likewise, they don’t really care about racial justice and equality or equity, or whatever words they are using today. They don’t care about the rich not paying enough. They don’t care about the environment or the climate. They don’t care about women’s health or pay equity.
As an example, “whiteness”, as these thugs present it in its worse light, is just the symbol of things they hate: morality, liberty, free markets, America, and the like. All these other things they are allegedly for or against are also just pretense. One doesn’t have to be white to be for these things, but to Democratic Party leaders, the myth that these are inherently white, and therefore racist, ideas, is designed to keep people from exploring them and demanding freedom from the neocom wokatariate!
We distinguish between the leaders and most Democrats and we don’t let the crony collaboration party (neocon cronies) of the GOP, off the hook. On one hand, the topmost GOP leaders tend to be collaborators with the freedom takers, on the other hand there is a cult of personality around Donald Trump that is divorced from the greatest republican ideals of freedom rooted in virtue, liberty, and independence. A true freedom alternative within either Party that dominates modern politics is lacking.
To be perfectly clear: concerns about racial injustice, institutional inequity, the climate and the environment, worker’s rights, and all these other things are legitimate and millions of people who vote Democrat genuinely care about these things in ways we should all emulate. Nobody should gainsay these issues nor seek to deny the rights and self-determination of any person or national people or any group to pursue a life fitting to their own beliefs, values, and convictions. Even if we see marriage and the family through our lens of historic Christian orthodoxy, we cannot deny that others have a right to live out and define these things as they see fit, for example.
We do not criticize the Democratic Party leaders for raising such issues, we criticize them for exploitating these issues in a very disingenuous manner and for presenting “solutions” that tend toward authoritarianism without even addressing the core problem. If you think demozing white people and white shaming along with authoritarianism will solve the very real concerns of racial injustice then you are being played a fool.
It is this gross misappropriation of legitimate grievances and the hyper-exaggeration of conflict that we must confront and defy as tools of an authoritarianism that has no place in a free and pluralistic society of equals!
Meanwhile, Democratic Party leaders use “anti-whiteness” hyperbolic rhetoric to bludgeon people into submission without thinking critically. By demonizing being white or whiteness they can then associate everything that isn’t totalitarian and communist with being white and make people reject it without even thinking about the true meaning or the implications of letting the modern Party of Lenin and Mao and its woke cancel culture extremism ruin this land.
Their modernized version of communism, neocommunism, uses the wokatariate agenda and cancel culture as well as creates an alliance between monopoly corporate rulers and political rulers to manage and control society for their own benefit but by making the same utopian promises and authoritarian claims as old communists. This is also true of all their other utopian claims and bogeyman fears: the only purpose is to remove logic, critical thinking, open and free debate and discourse, transparency, and accountability from the equation.
To the morally depraved Democratic Party establishment, freedom and the Bill of Rights are somehow too white or too hateful or too harmful to the climate and the only cure is a totalitarian one-party state. They do not have a shred of humanity or decency in their wicked Ahab souls. They are the bane of this land and enemies of freedom.
Pictured above, the Soviet star on top of the american flag (Star and Stripes) symbolizing the true spirit and intent of the neocom wokatariate and the neocon cronytariate!
Democratic Party leaders consider everyone who isn’t a supporter of their whole ideology a domestic terrorist but also don’t have a problem doing business with the terrorists of the Taliban. They virtue signal for racial justice but support the Chinese Communists who are genociding the Uyghurs. Democratic Party leaders consider you an unwoke terrorist if you don’t cotton to 50 genders but these unscrupulous haters of liberty are OK with the Taliban who treat women like property.
Everything they say about justice and equality or systemic racism or the rainbow cancel culture agenda, all their alt-gendered mind games, their wild and repeatedly unrealized sensational claims about the climate are pretense. They are focused only on gaining themselves monopoly power to line their pockets and satisfy a morbid and inhumane lust for total control over the lives of other human beings. It is an erotic pleasure only the mentally abnormal and imbalanced can experience when they lord it over others and deny them their basic human dignity.
Democratic Party leaders are a den of craven, immoral, mentally imbalanced, and unjust freedom takers who are collectively guilty of crimes against humanity. We should reject their claims, their virtue signaling, and their utopian promises, as we should reject their bogeyman fears of systemic racism and an apocalyptic climate change crisis. Everything they say is a lie and all their motives are impure: they do not want a good life for most people, they want a good life for themselves and for everyone else to be their slaves.
The party of slavery hasn’t changed a bit since it started a rebellion to keep its slaves, costing over 650,000 lives. The scope and methods of the slavers has changed and now includes everyone save the few ruling class who get to run this massive plantation. The true motivation of the Democratic Party leaders is that they are the true spiritual heirs of slavers past: they are modern slavers who wish to get you to exchange real freedom for the “freedom” to pleasure yourself and “explore” false alt genderism until you are an animal and until you are isolated from faith and family so you make a good slave.
The neocom wokatariate and the collaborators of the neocon cronytariate are, together, a clear and present danger to the very existence of these United States of free and sovereign republics and free and sovereign people! We need a true and 100% freedom alternative!
Upadaria is that alternative. Upadaria represent a massive civilizational shift that you can use, practice, and experience in your own life and relationships right now. Things like our four core ideals, our 17 Protocols, and our practices and mandates, are all designed to enhance your quality of life and personal freedom. And they can be used by anyone, anywhere, at any time, on their own and in free association with others.
Our focus away from mere politics and back toward reinvigorating faith, family, and free association in community with others through freewill participation is a bold departure from an approach that, in relying too heavily on politics, ironically makes politics too powerful and people as individuals too powerless!
In contrast to the neocom wokatariate and the necon cronytariate, Upadaria represents a dream of freedom where every single person is valued, nobody is left behind, and every group or national people is free to live their lives according to their own self-determination. It is a global vision anyone can tap into and utilize in their own life and relationships, immediately and in free association with anyone who they want to associate with.
Perhaps this is the reason why Upadaria, as a global project, attracts people from left and right, and perhaps the reason so many who call themselves Democrats are drawn to this vision. Our vision is equal parts freedom and justice for all, leaving nobody behind!
Upadaria stands on a basic premise that we are all Created in the image of God, that we all own spiritual sovereignty, and that God’s desire for human civilization itself is to foster a free and pluralistic society of equals where everyone who desires can find God if haply they seek Him!
The neocom wokatariate soundbite for social justice, the neocon cronytariate soundbite for freedom. We demand justice through freedom, we oppose the ruling class and their authoritarianism!
What the Democratic Party leaders say that they are for and against is all lies. They are for themselves and it is time rank and file Democrats, who genuinely care about things like racial justice, rise up and demand solutions that are also in accordance with basic freedom standards for all people.
What is the freeodm alternative to the woke cancel culture authoritarians on the left and the crony corporate collaborators on the right? Are the GOP or Trump and his backers the freedom alternative?
Freedom means different things to different people, we like the concept of freedom being the domain of the free and that being free means very little of your life’s decisions or circumstances are dictated by people with whom you do not agree. This kind of freedom has, as we see it, three legs: virtue, liberty, and independence. This is the motto on the Pennsylvania flag, and we think it’s there for a good reason, to show that freedom needs these three elements.
If you want a domain of the free, then the free need civic and moral virtue that ensures everyone treats each other with dignity and respect. In a domain of the free, the highest law is a law of liberty, something like what was contained in the original spirit and intent of the US Bill of Rights, with the most generous interpretation favoring the individual’s human rights, human dignity, and human flourishing. Finally, in practical ways, individuals and voluntary groups or local communities need to practice material and economic independence from top-down structures of control.
When you consider the political options, in terms of people and parties, who among them offers a true freedom alternative in the face of wokism and cronyism which, together, are choking this country and leading us toward a road to authoritarianism?
President Trump may appeal to many who want that alternative because they feel he is ghe strongest opponent of the woke authoritarians, but the former President hasn’t waged as relentless a battle against cronyism as he has against aspects of the wokist cancel culture. In terms of civic and moral virtue, he hasn’t quite lived up to any ideal of a leader whose conduct and behavior are such we would wish our children to emulate them.
While Trump has flaws, he fights, and most of our criticism of his potty mouth and pettiness could also be said of most other leaders today. The way President Biden talks and acts is different from the way President Trump did, but the man has shown a stunning lack of moral courage or character. His numerous questionable deals with his son., Hunter, should mark him as a corrupt politician who owes the world a frank and transparent explanation.
Trump is an option, a way to push back against the wokatariate ruling class, who generally seem to loath him, and not because of his lack of decorum. On vital issues, especially the areas of social values and the family, Trump sides with the wokatariate itself: he has no marital fidelity and he views marriage as any two people coming together for however long and purely for self-satisfaction, mostly sensual.
So, while Trump is an option and a way to fight the wokatariate ruling class, he doesn’t check all the freedom boxes, he is not a freedom alternative.
Then there is the GOP. The GOP is a crony collaborator party mostly interested in lining the pockets of its myopic donor class. None of their words matter, all their actions have shown that all they are ever capable of is slightly slowing the march toward authoritarianism. In every major step on the march toward a monopoly power regime, perhaps two parties both controlled by one single cabal, the GOP has either collaborated directly (the infrastructure bill), initiated things (the Patriot Act), or stepped aside and let it happen (Obamacare).
While one may settle on single GOP leaders who they like, the overall momentum and direction of the GOP is toward collaboration and cronyism, hence the phrase “crony collaboration party.”
Even if you don’t like the Democrats, the GOP, or Trump, for various reasons, or if you like one of these choices, which among them faithfully and consistently fights for pure and unadulterated freedom for all people? The short answer is: none of the above are true freedom alternatives!
The argument that one might support Trump or the GOP to counter the greater threat from the wokatariate is not an argument that these choices are freedom alternatives. They are shades of authoritarianism below the stronger shades of the wokatariate and its disruptive, draconian, and intolerant authoritarianism.
At present, the choices for party or candidates who are true freedom alternatives are practically nil. We simply don’t have a true and faithful freedom alternative who lives up to virtue, liberty, and independence with vigor.
What building local gaps for freedom looks like is a happy neighborhood that is free and prosperous and that isn’t under the thumb of a corporate-government monopoly seeking to undermine faith and family in order to create an atomized society of cogs in a machine that benefit only the ruling class.
Gaps for freedom basically means anything that allows more freedom than the systems and structures of society normally permit if you depend on them. If you depend on the monopoly corporate platforms to express your political views or the monopoly corporate payment processors to get paid from clients, then you are not very free. If, on the other hand, you can get your message out past the censors and process payments without the monopoly corporate payment processors, then you have found a gap for freedom.
Even official edicts are often couched in conditional “dependencies”, like if your business is public-facing they will demand you comply with things that violate your conscience, or if you want to cluster together with others of a same mind but use traditional means to buy and sell or lease property, you don’t get to choose the people who live right beside you. In both instances, there are ways to find gaps for freedom: a business that only caters to members of a private club or a mutual benefit corporation that only sells shares to members of a private club, are good examples.
Building freedom locally is the best way to eventually pish back against and defeat the freedom takers, unless they wish to go full violent totalitarian oppressive, in which case the consequences of upheaval would be theirs alone.
Unless you are rich and can command a small army of staff and personal security to isolate you from the greater sociocultural, socioeconomic, and political environment, you will find that your options as an individual are limited, Buying food in some places and getting supplies without a Walmart or an Amazon are virtually impossible for an individual, but not for smaller groups of around 120 adults who can grow food and use bulk buying, even paying a member to travel and get supplies not locally available. Indeed, this group could even create a sort of private “general store” that knows what everyone wants, buys in bulk, and then lets members buy with a private trade scrip.
If you want to be free from an increasingly authoritarian and intolerant ruling class and their corrupt national institutions and mega corporations, you have to be willing to network with and share resources and work with fellow freedom seekers who desire the same kind of life as you do.
People who desire the kind of life that is represented by millennia of Christian moral and doctrinal orthodoxy are the most vulnerable to the freedom takers in their bid to reshape society through manipulation, bullying, and coercion by the corporate world and the government. Their vision for society is an alt-gendered mass of atomized individuals whose “freedom” is limited to pleasure-seeking without any nod at all to the kind of morals and virtues needed for a society wherein most children, most of the time, are raised in a living home by their own biological or adopted parents.
It isn’t enough if you do not demand or desire anyone to follow this way of life and if all you want is to be able to live this life, express yourself, and even organize your own private associations and relationships on the basis of those standards and norms applicable to this life. Not only don’t the ruling class want you to share your views or express yourself along these lines, they don’t even want you to be able to live such a life, which they deem to be “out of bounds.” What this means is that the ruling class believe, or they want everyone to believe, that a man loving a woman and both raising their own children together and being wed for life is itself ‘oppression” and “evil” and that we must do away with both the propagation of this idea and with anyone trying to live out this idea.
But, the problem for them is, they cannot be open about this and if they use hard power, if they attempt to close off all gaps for freedom and make it legally impossible to live at peace if you both live our and express this way of life, they will find themselves unable to control the resultant uprising.
Sadly, for most Americans, there will never be a massive majority who resort to this way of life again, who are vocal about it, and who will use whatever gaps for freedom they can to get around the “soft” and conditional restrictions imposed by the corporate and political world. What this means is that, the tolerance for the minority who would use these gaps for freedom will be driven by both a fear lest being overt creates an uprising and out of a belief that if only a few people are doing this, it won’t seriously interrupt their plans.
Building freedom locally demands that you find and connect with fellow freedom seekers and that you become or find freedom builders, people with knowledge, skills, and resources to build gaps for freedom by the use of technology, financial arrangement, mutual benefit corporations, private clubs, and the such to shift how you spend your time and money from things the ruling class controls to things you and your associates control,
After joining Democrats to pass the first draft of the bloated, heavily ideological and cronyist “infrastructure bill”, the Republicans have succeeded in passing a series of meaningless amendments that will be promptly dropped in the “budget reconciliation process.” This process allows anything framed as a spending measure, including mandating that all new cars be built with an interlock device and tracking technology, to be passed without a single Republican vote.
The Republicans put out a memo in which they claimed to have put the Democrats in a difficult position over their amendments. These amendments included things like preventing federal funding of abortion and preventing the restriction of fracking, and a prohibition on Critical Race Theory.” The Republicans could have prevented this by not voting for the first version of the bill, the one tailored to pass with fewer poison pills but which is also radically ideological and filled with crony handouts and vote-buying schemes. But the GOP leadership voted for the Bill, demonstrating the fighting spirit of the Afghan National Army.
The jumped-up claims that they are truly putting Democrats in a difficult position are an attempt to fool their base into believing that voting GOP matters in an election. But in reality the GOP at the national level is a faux opposition party, soundbiting one way, and yet acting as supine collaboration to the Democratic Party’s totalitarian ambitions.
The entire Republican Party is a hollowed-out wreck without a soul, substance, or fight and is either off acting like crazed angry bloggers with nothing more than red-meat reactionary rage or as moderate voices whose chief pleasure is getting the Partisan Press to say a few nice things about them.
The infrastructure bill is a radical, partisan, and authoritarian intolerable act that any thinking and intelligent population would positively rebel against and any elected politician would be run out of office for supporting. Thinking and intelligence can hardly be considered traits of an electorate “educated” by partisan-run public schools entirely focused on ideological, irreligious, anti-family indoctrination and almost incidentally focused on science, math, reading, and the like. Democrats control the education establishment almost as a youth wing of their Party and most teachers are more partisan revolutionary hack than actually teacher.
The GOP leadership, instead of condemning and resisting with vigor, has played collaborator to, despite its symbolic but not substantive “amendments” which will most definitely be dropped from the reconciliation package. This may stem from decades of public school indoctrination and mental health abuse within a partisan-run education system that is itself all symbolism over substance.
Basically, the Senate Republicans aren’t capable of understanding that they are collaborators, that their opposition is symbolic and meaningless, and that if the Democrats ever gain the monopoly power they crave, these useless idiots in the opposition will have won no favor for their collaborative efforts. While it is virtually impossible for Democrats to achieve this aim without literally becoming a totalitarian junta or something like that, and while this is also impossible given the US political structure, if this ever happened the collaboration party would be tossed aside like waste.
In the end, the Democrats won’t vote on these amendments, they simply won’t write them into the reconciliation version of the bill. On that ground, they won’t have meant anything, but the fact the Republican leadership in the Senate voted for the first part of this monstrosity is all the substance one needs to observe in order to accuse the GOP leadership of collaboration with the radicals who run the Democratic Party.
Finding gaps for freedom in this emerging authoritarian environment where the opposition is a collaborationist party will become increasingly difficult for freedom seekers and the skilled freedom builder who can organize people locally to defy this trend will become extremely valuable. If this bill passes, the freedom builders will have much work to do in order to help people organize at a sufficient local scale to build their own gaps for freedom which allow them to avoid these intolerable acts and their edicts as much as possible, without becoming outlaws.
The collaboration party, the GOP, will continue to offer insubstantial opposition that is merely words and the individual who is not either very rich or connected to a local network of freedom seekers led by freedom builders, will find their own horizon of possibilities shrinking and their basic human rights, human dignity, and human flourishing undermined.
What the Senate Republicans have done is give Democrats one more step closer to monopoly power and a government and mega corporation controlled economy, culture, and civil society all exploited to benefit the few at the expense of the many. There are many reasons the Democrats will fail, but Republicans aren’t one of those reasons.
From WION out of India, the collapse of the US-backed government in Kabul is invoking images of the fall of Saigon as panicked locals realize the retreat of the US means the new masters of their country will seek their vengeance. The sheer terror and chaos are a culmination of 20 years of bad policy that cannot solely be laid at the feet of either Trump or Biden, of Democrats or Republicans. It has been a massive bipartisan failure at the gross expense of tens of thousands people, including American troops whose lives were forever changed by their deployment there.
Let’s look past the partisan spin and blame game DC is so famous for and debunk some common partisan narratives.
Biden Isn’t The Author Of This Disaster
President Biden certainly didn’t do anything to mitigate the debacle that has been the “war on terror” during his 8 years as Vice President. But the genesis of the collapse of the US-backed government in Kabul begins in 2001. The knee-jerk response to the Al Qaeda attack, which saw the US focus on “nation-building” and embrace the myth “better to fight the bad guys overseas than at home.”
We didn’t fight the bad guys, we engaged in nation-building. When US and Northern Alliance troops were closing in Al Qaeda, the US suddenly STOPPED the attack and Bin Laden got away. Ideally, had this attack been pushed to its conclusion, the bad guys are gone, the war is over. Sure, the US could back the Northern Alliance as it did the Mujahideen, but we went for an invasion to save people who weren’t trying to save themselves.
Instead of snuffing the real bad guys out, the US let them go, perhaps due to incompetence, perhaps for other geopolitical reasons. The nation-building idea was always bad and once the US entered the land and began its han-fisted approach to Afghani politics, the stage was set for what happened, albeit after much loss of mostly civilian lives.
Donald Trump’s Withdrawal Agreement Was Bad
Donald Trump wanted out and he was willing to make nice with the Taliban, on the grounds they promised, on paper, to foreswear the use of terrorism or hosting terrorism. It was not expected this would be observed, but if it wasn’t, well, we have plenty of bombs for that. Whatever one thinks of Trump, he knew when to hold and when to fold, and it was time to fold. But his plan involved militarily supporting a withdrawal and leaving in May, not August. His plan wasn’t followed the US arbitrarily reneged on the deal.
It’s true it may seem Trump was naive about the Taliban and that they weren’t going to follow the deal. But Trump’s calculus was to stop the bleeding and cut losses but to make sure the withdrawal of US personnel and collaborative Afghanis was orderly and on time.
A better deal wasn’t to be had and none of the critics have proposed better alternatives that would have worked.
The US Is On Retreat and Only Taliban Backers Like China and Pakistan Benefit
One alternative view is that the seemingly precipitous withdrawal is an abject defeat. But the geopolitical calculus is possible mote subtle. The US is aligning against China and its position on Afghanistan leaves it vulnerable to Russia, Pakistan, and the “Stans” and constrains their hand against China. In essence, China, allied to Pakistan, and Russia, patron of the Stans, could hold US forces hostage.
China may indeed be falling for a clever trap in which they become embroiled in the morasse of Afghani trial politics. The Taliban may be making nice with Beijing now but it’s ability to keep its word is nil. The love betweem Islamists and Communists is notoriously low, which is the nicest thing one may say about the Communists.
Biden Blew It By Changing The Date of Withdrawal
It is true Biden abandoned the original agreement and plan, thus making the blaming of Trump laughable as the plan executed was not Trump’s plan. The negotiations with the Taliban were nixed and so was the withdrawal date, which did in fact violate the agreement.
While this was used as a pretext by the Taliban to present this change as an affront to Afghanistan itself, it is flimsy logic to say this alone ruined the plan. Biden needed, or wanted, more time to effect withdrawal and vastly over-estimated the potential of Afghan forces. The major deviation was dismissing the Taliban, but one can hardly argue against viewings these people as brutal savages as opposed to making nice with them.
The Taliban don’t keep agreements. Biden knew this and ditched the idiotic pretext, but it may have led to a miscalculation of many things, such as the strength of the enemy and of allies. Merely changing the date of withdrawal may have fed Taliban propaganda, but that’s about it.
What’s The Conclusion?
The collapse of the US-backed government in Afghanistan was essentially ensured when US and Allied forces tried to defend people who didn’t want to fight for themselves and tried nation-building in a land that basically rejected the values upon which that effort was based.
Backed by China and Pakistan, the Taliban are poised to take Kabul and end the 20 year exmpiremnt in nation-building with a staggering defeat. The Taliban were estimated by the US “intelligence community” to be incapable of matching the larger and better equipped Afghan national army, which either switched sides or evaporated. Billions in US weapons seized make the Talbin a creditable force in the region.
The Afghan people seem to be of three types: cowards who flee the first signs of battle, people who don’t want freedom and are willing to accept tyranny, people who may want freedom but only as a handout at others’ expense. Exceptions to this can be found, a brave Afghani willing to stand for freedom is rare and would not be able to realistically hold their ground on the midst of such a moribund and corrupt population.
The Epoch Times covered the stunning evacuation of US embassy in Kabul in scenes reminiscent of the fall of Saigon.
Meanwhile, the President and Vice President have left Kabul after the President spoke of a peaceful transition of power but the Vice President vowed to fight the Taliban to the death and never, ever sit under the same roof as them.
The main change in protocol for this Biden withdrawal over the Trump withdrawal was that Biden cut off all talks with the Taliban and seems to have bought the false narrative that Afghan army, strong on paper, with limited US air support, could hold the line. What happened was that the army turned, fled, or was bought off and in many cases, after surrendering and believing they would be spared, they write slaughtered. Trump thought he could engage the Taliban, mostly to keep them from supporting terror groups like Al Qaeda, in the future in a power-sharing arrangement.
Both approaches would likely have ended in the same space.
Efforts to rescue the 20,000 or more Afghanis who would face execution for collaboration with the Americans are under way. There are no plans for the women and children whose menfolk so thoroughly let them down. There are also no plans to punish China and Pakistan, without whose help this would not have been possible.
US forces are being airlifted back into Afghanistan in a desperate bid to save US citizens and Afghani collaborators from the Taliban advance.
As the Taliban marches into the remaining “free” areas of Afghanistan, a feat nobody who was watching matters is surprised about, the temptation to “save” Afghanistan from itself may be great. The amount of money made by the defense industry is staggering, but the gain of this policy is negligible. In the end, despite massive aid and training, the people of Afghanistan don’t want freedom, they want a throwback to the most archaic and barbaric religious ideology known to modern humanity.
The US is now sending in troops to rescue US citizens and Afghani collaborators with the US in scenes that will potentially be more dramatic than the fall of Saigon. The Taliban, backed by China and Pakistan and freshly armed with captured US war booty, are about to turn the country back into a terrorist safe haven and 7th century hellscape in which Christians are martyred and women become chattel.
The blame lies with every US President since Bush II, the neocon “genius” who promised that everyone wants “democracy” if only US forces fought for their freedom, even though the actual people being “liberated” never have. But the consequences are to the American people, both in terms of lost lives, changed lives through injury and psychological damage, and trillions of dollars, most of which lined corporate pockets.
The drumbeat of war will begin as soon as, once again, Afghanistan hosts the next terrorist act against the US. Outraged people will want revenge and will forget that this story keeps repeating with no successful end in sight. The propensity of the ruling class to foment conflicts which they profit from has never been greater.
But from the perspective of the average Afghani, most of whom lack the courage and conviction needed to resist the ideology of the Taliban, life will become a horror freak show. The ruthlessness and arbitrary brutality of the Taliban falls on people even if they desperately try to comply with the overwhelming edicts of this throwback religious sect. Nobody, not even a faithful Taliban member, is safe from the possibility of being brutalized and murdered for reasons they cannot even fathom.
Every Afghani who aided the Americans, and there are hundreds of thousands, is going to face dire consequences, and so is their family. The precipitous withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan, brokered by Trump and then carried out months later than planned by Biden, means that almost none of these people will be safe. Simply importing all of them to the US is not a practical solution. Moreover, they didn’t collaborate with the US to have to leave their homeland, many just wanted to make money or, in some cases, they wanted to move their country into the 21st century.
Sending in US troops to Kabul to effect an emergency evacuation while the President practically begs and then cajoles the Taliban, who have no fear of the US, may morph into saving the army of collaborators who have, mostly, turned tail and fled from the enemy. Plaintiff cries to save the Afghani collaborators have already begun and this pressure is coming from the right and left.
But the pressure to just put this behind us, cut our losses, including human losses, and move on is greater. Any “engagement” is likely to be covert and concealed, possibly carried out by mercenaries (contractors), and possibly by buying off more Afghanis to trade money for propping up a corrupt puppet regime. There is no popular support or willingness to sacrifice or fight to save Afghanistan from the China and Pakistan backed Taliban.
Afghanistan and Iraq have been a gross debacle, they have caused massive losses to the US and they have only made things worse in those lands. This is a bipartisan debacle no US President since Bush II has had the moral courage and tenacity to stop. Biden is the last unfortunate President who must oversee the final collapse which was inevitable way back in 2001 when the plan became “nation building” for a population that wouldn’t fight for its own freedom.
US re-engagement in Afghanistan would only serve the defense industry and, while it is unlikely, one can never underestimate the corruption and foolishness of America’s real political shot-callers.
Bill Collier- According to reports, the Covid-19 vaccines are losing 6% efficacy every 2 months, albeit only against mild infections, while the efficacy of the vaccines against death is reportedly at near 100% and very effective against serious illness. But if the vaccines are so quickly, at 6% per month, losing efficacy against mild illness, will it remain effective against serious illness or death a year from injection?
Hesitancy and doubt about the vaccines versus faith in the vaccines and fear the unvaccinated are only making this worse for everyone else is dividing society. The heart of the issue here is not that disinformation is out there and some of it is ridiculous, the core problem is a strong distrust of leading institutions. The faith of the public in lending institutions, from the White House and the CDC to the Press, is waning and all these institutions have earned that distrust.
The more brute force and authoritarian the response to the unvaccinated gets, the more people suspect and fear the vaccine is somehow either dangerous or ineffective. It doesn’t take a leap of logic to see that if the vaccines are losing efficacy against a minor level of infection that eventually they will lose efficacy against serious levels.
Arguments against vaccines range from weird theories of microchips to allegations the vaccine is “leaky” and actually leading to new varients and that these varients may not be protected against by the vaccines over the next year. Arguments for mass vaccination focus on how the unvaccinated may spread the virus and keep it alive, the basic idea being that if everyone is vaccinated at once then the virus will quickly dissipate. But this isn’t the case with influenza, the flu, which requires an annual shot.
It all comes back to trust. People who refuse the vaccine do not trust the officials and institutions pushing the vaccine. The retort that one has to believe everyone involved is deliberately lying in some conspiracy doesn’t mollify anyone’s fears. Accusing people of conspiracy theory thinking and denigrating them doesn’t tend to convince them.
Do I think, as the Publisher of The Freedomist, that the vaccines are somehow going to make everyone sick eventually and/or become useless? No. My own hesitancy is related to a practical need to ensure that I am able to take care of my wife, who has an illness that requires constant personal care.
Me being incapacitated is not good for her and people getting the vaccine have become very sick for up to a few weeks. For the risk to the unvaccinated this is actually seen as worth it, and I totally get that, but the consequences to my wife if I become incapacitated can be just as bad. Moreover, if she gets quite sick, with her underlying illness, it could cause her to take a turn for the worse.
But many have deeper fears and concerns, they do not have faith the vaccines will remain effective and, worse, they fear it will actually cause health issues in the long term. The draconian lockdown on information, deplatforming people who dare question the vaccine, has backfired in its intended effect: the feeling is “they” are hiding something.
Those who start or spread misinformation are insidious, but those who may be concealing information about problems with the virus are also insidious. Sorting out who is either spreading misinformation or concealing information is virtually impossible as one cannot trust sources and authorities these days.
My own instinct is, frankly, not to trust the skeptics and their claims, like that the vaccines alter your DA or that the entire system is geared toward some depopulation scheme. I strongly doubt that all the people involved in the vaccines are part of some conspiracy to make the population sick or make them infertile in order to reduce the human population. That’s insane and bizarre.
On the other hand, the government and the CDC have proven to be liars and to cover up the worse, grossest crimes. The list of “conspiracies” actually conducted and eventually exposed is too long to mention. We all know about how the “intelligence community” has lied over and over for political reasons and how all these endless wars have only made the defense industry rich at the expense of American and innocent foreign lives.
The idea anyone is knowingly pushing a vaccine that makes people infertile or eventually makes them sick doesn’t pass the test of logic. But the idea a rushed vaccine with waning efficacy is being pushed by desperate politicians who need a big win to prevail in elections is quite plausible. The use by both sides of this issue for political gain is also problematic: the anti-mask and pro-mask crowds are basically split between Republicans and Democrats, both sides insisting the other side is using bunk science.
The waning efficacy of the vaccines for minor illnesses and its inability to prevent the vaccinated from carrying the virus is a fact acknowledged by the vaccine companies themselves. The logical next step feared by many is that this waning efficacy is that people who are vaccinated will begin to get very ill or die. I personally know a number of people who were vaccinated who became quite ill, although this is anecdotal and, in the main, the statistics show the vaccinated are most unlikely to get seriously ill or to die.
My own concerns are twofold:
I certainly fear the consequences of getting this virus. I have been exposed to it three times and thankfully did not get sick.
On the other hand, I sincerely fear the vaccine may make me sick enough to struggle to properly care for my wife, I fear that she will take a turn for the worse if she has a bad reaction to the vaccine, and I fear the vaccine will lose its efficacy and give a false sense of security.
I don’t have a strong reason to trust the authoritarians who are demanding everyone get vaccinated and I certainly don’t buy into the wild claims against the vaccine, which have a political motivation. If I had no concern about the consequences if I have a bad reaction to the vaccine, in light of my caregiving duty, I would be vaccinated. If my wife had no underlying illness that could be seriously impacted by a bad reaction to the vaccine, I would urge her to get it. As it stands, she has substantial concerns.
The waning efficacy of the vaccines will continue to make it difficult to get people to get the vaccine and the authoritarian and insulting response to these people will only make it worse.
If conservatives crave freedom and order with a nod to traditional moral norms, liberals crave justice and equality with a nod to future progress and societal evolution. But whenever either side wins an election victory and their party gains power, the promises that motivated their vote fail to materialize.
Beyond lip service and using those promises as a blanket to cover other things, the politicos dance to the tune played by the uber rich ruling class. We can see now how the Democrats in claiming to be champions of things like justice, equality, and societal progress are mostly just delivering more government control and more crony kickbacks to their corporate masters. When in 2016 the shoe was on the other foot, Republicans delivered more government control and crony kickbacks to their corporate masters while soundbiting all about freedom and order and preserving our traditiona and values.
What we call “upadarianism” is no synthesis of conservative and liberal ideologies as such, but it does seek to address and advance many of the aspirational desires and valid concerns associated with these two main camps. On one hand conservatives may deny the lack of justice and equality some demographics suffer in this country. On the other hand liberals tend to be all too willing to sacrifice freedom for all in order to rectify the injustice suffered by some. Conservatives sometimes recoil at the ideas of progress and societal evolution and see change itself as bad while liberals seem to regard everything from the past as inherently suspect and even execrable in a really irrational manner.
The upadarian ideology, if we have to even use the word “ideology”, is really an ideational framework of ideals, principles, and practices which lead to good governance and a positive and forward-looking lifestyle. It is not rooted in or confined by the ideological straitjackets of left or right. The goal is to apply both God’s standards of righteousness in the form of freewill participation between people who consent thereto and God’s standards of justice to ensure a pluralistic, free, equitable, and prosperous society that nurtures every person without favor or prejudice.
If we desire anything for civilization it is to ensure a free and pluralistic society of equals who enjoy freedom and who may all prosper in peace and happiness through their own individual choices in terms of their own actions and the forms of freewill participation they desire to engage in.
What marks upadarianism as unique in many regards is that most of its “program” is entirely voluntary and can be carried out through freewill participatory associations of some kind and yet government, which includes the magisterial authority, is not necessarily seen as a “necessary evil” but a potential positive good. We challenge and deny the notion the 17th century concept of nation-state defines what the magisterial authority could be, but we see the magisterial authority as essentially good and beneficial when it is governed by the right ideals.
Upadarianism is based on a Judeo-Christian understanding and balanced, holistic application of the four core ideals of what we consider the next advancement in the form of a new civilization. These ideals include Unity in diversity, Popular sovereignty, Democratic equality, and Rule of law. They form the initials UPDR, hence “UPaDaRianism.”
Without getting too deep in their meaning, these ideals resonate with the inner harmony of a civilizational framework that nurtures and values every person and encourages the development and exercise of their spiritual sovereignty as individuals so that each can find and follow God’s best for their lives without artificial limits.
Unlike “ideologies”, upadarianism, sometimes spelled UPDRism, has its starting point and primary focus on individuals and freewill participatory associations of free people pursuing and actualizing its ideals, principles, and practices unilaterally and voluntarily. Upadarianism isn’t about shaping the broader society to suit our beliefs, values, and convictions. It is about shaping a legal and civil ecosystem that simply allows people who desire to use this lifestyle and governance self-disciplinary philosophy and way of life to its maximum effect without undue external interference or artificial limits.
The inner harmony between left and right appears as we get to the root of the rank and file person’s true motivations and realize both want things that are actually positive overall for society. Where these desires become a trap and an excuse to enhance the ruling class at everyone else’s expense is when they become slogans without meaning and justification for vilification and for making government more powerful at the expense of both freedom and justice.
The common thread of corruption of the more pure and noble ideas of left and right is that they depend on electoral victories and a return to power of the other party, the one not in power but who will allegedly save them from the party on power. Even for those who tactically vote against a party to forestall the agenda of the party in power, there is a sense emerging among a very few that this isn’t really forestalling the limitations on freedom nor advancing justice and equity.
Few liberals or conservatives are willing to find common ground on the basis of freedom with mutual respect for human dignity, human rights, and human flourishing as something all sides can uphold. The divide between them is perpetuated and advanced substantially through partisanship to an absurd degree wherein whatever gives electoral advantages to their party is good and anything that might hurt their chances is bad. The good of the party becomes synonymous in a subtle but insidious way with their alleged ideals and aspirations.
While we tend to think Republicans generally support less overt ways to deny or limit freedom, and we beleive freedom is essential to everything else, we also tend to think Democrats at least give some lip service to issues of injustice and inequity and are more open to societal advances that should not necessarily be limited by tradition when those traditions are no relevant or useful.
The problem regarding Democrats today is that they have become the party of imposition and intolerance toward others. Having captured most institutions in this land, they flex their power and, like bad Calvanists, assume the universe favors them simply because they have the power and wealth their opponents lack. Far beyond simply wanting justice and equity, Democrats are moving into some sort of authoritarian-imposed “new humanity” that tears up all tradition and burns down old institutions such as faith and family out of a preternatural aversion to everything from the past.
Many liberals who simply want justice and equality for all persons have been seduced into believing that the path toward authoritarianism and imposing new norms that burn down all the ancient institutions and values is the only path to progress. Arrogance, hubris, hatred, and increasing violence are the new norms on the left, their ideas about justice and equity having become a disingenuous pretext for raw ambitions aimed at monopoly power forever.
We can and do cite the violent and irrational anger on the right, so notoriously on display when the Capitol was stormed by a mob seeking literary to overthrow the government, but this has yet to become a systematic as the violence from the left. Moreover, while most on the right tend to condemn violence and while every institution seeks to shun and shame rightwing violence, this isn’t true for the left. The violence of the left is nurtured by top Democrats and every institution in this land supports it, or at least justifies it, openly.
All this leads people who desire freedom, who may not fit the mold of a conservative, thinking any vote against a Democrat is a good thing because, today, Democrats have become totalitarian, anti-freedom, and violent in their approach to re-creating society as an alt-gendered, atomized, and undifferentiated mass of cogs in their Party machine.
Republicans have betrayed their claims to be for freedom and they continue to treat the poor and disadvantaged as if societal and structural bias is not at all to blame.
Anyone who both loves freedom and desires justice will find Democrats violently opposed to freedom in its real activation but giving lip service to justice and Republicans betraying freedom and most vehemently, if not yet violently in the main, opposed to justice and equity as they blame the victims for their plight.
We do not ask government to implement our program of peaceful and non-violent, unilateral “revolution within”, by which we desire to build among ourselves a sociocultural and socioeconomic alternative structure that allows us to live free and experience equitable justice without favor or prejudice.
We are not relying on “government” and party victories to implement our program, it is something average people must be able to freely pursue and to inhibit this pursuit is itself a tort against society itself, a crime against humanity.
We are not finding things people want or that are trending and then using this to capture and audience. Honestly, that has its place in marketing and persuasion. But it has no place in this effort. We are focusing on a sacred blueprint for human civilization which one may follow through freewill participation and which cannot be imposed by humans over other humans.
Our agenda is NOT to reshape this society according to our best understanding of God’s sacred blueprints but, rather, to be free to explore and actualize those blueprints unilaterally and on a purely freewill basis.
For instance, rather than imposing our will or trying to get other national peoples to be like us, we are working to unilaterally build the genesis structures of a new civilization and its vanguard people, the Upadarian spiritual nation, without seeking to change anything or anyone that doesn’t desire to participate in our freedom-building, nation-building, and civilization-building efforts. Quite simply, to SHOW the world what a nation whose God is the Lord looks like and how its participants act toward one another and the world at large, we are unilaterally creating that new nation on a spiritual as opposed to a political basis.
Likewise, our agenda and program doesn’t follow trends or fads or even things people feel they need or want. Our focus is on discovering and then actualizing a sacred and eternal blueprint which we have a right to implement among ourselves and which no human being or earthly authority has any jurisdiction over.
If we love one another and do not lie, steal, murder, or commit adultery, for instance, there is not law against us in God’s eyes. And if it be not unlawful before God it cannot justly be proscribed by human beings without our informed consent and through freewill participation alone.
For too many on the right and left this isn’t good enough. Not only must they be able to live out and express their beliefs, values, and convictions but the rest of society must bow to these things and participate wholeheartedly to affirm their fragile egos and uplift their choices as if those choices are the only right or just choices one can make. Everything is so “connected”, or “intersectional”, as they say, that your own choices and your own free associations with others must also conform to the “orthodoxy” of the hour or somehow it hurts everyone else who doesn’t like your choices.
(There IS a certain intersectionality often overlooked, a sort of multidimensional and multifaceted matrix of causality and effect that does make many aspects of life at every level interdependent of everything else. But these meshed and highly centralized ecosystems are not necessarily natural and much of the interdependence is forced and contrived. The inherent shared right of private bodies of peopme to unilaterally create autonomous sociocultural and socioeconomic ecosystems that are connected to a broader pluralistic framework should never be questioned by any advanced civilization and yet this is precisely what many who abuse the term “intersectional” are guilty of.)
The answer is unilateral actions by free people as individuals and as freewill participatory associations of people who work toward a common goal. The tendency to wait for the next election in the cause of either freedom or justice only gives more power to politicians who harness those good intentions for their own self-aggrandizement, all while limiting freedom and perpetrating more injustice. Political or civic activism is not off the table, but it cannot remain or become the primary thing, it must be directed mostly at protecting our rights to unilaterally pursue our freedom and justice program through freewill participation and by winning support in a purely consensual manner.
If your vision for society requires more than protecting your rights to pursue this vision through freewill participation alone then your core ideology is actually totalitarian in its spirit. If others must be made to conform and participate in your norms, in their private life and associations, then your ideas are perfectly and utterly useless to humanity.
The war to win freedom so we can pursue things like justice and equity to unilaterally build our own civilizational ecosystem among ourselves that is positive and beneficial to all and that doesn’t require any forced participation, will take many forms and require a multiplicity of tactics in many arenas at many levels. There is no magic elixir to cure us of the ills of an authoritarianism that is infecting every institution in this land.
