PGC – A Fairfax County Virginia School chose to feature children’s literature created by an organization called “Woke Kindergarten” called “Safe. By Ki.”
The video outlined all the things that made Ki safe, one of them was not having cops around. The video also implied everyone should work on making everyone else feel safe in pretty much every part of their lives.
The focus of most articles, such as the redstate article we reference to and link below, is on the book presentation characterizing a world without cops around as being unsafe. What disturbs me more is that the presentation has such a heavy emphasis on safety, and such an emphasis on stressing the moral imperative that everyone do their part to ensure everyone is always safe.
It’s difficult on its face to criticize a program teaching kids they should expect to feel safe when, to the majority of degrees, we kind of want our kids to have some level of feeling they are and should always feel safe. I would not, however, wish to teach my child is my moral imperative to assure everyone else is doing a good job making sure everyone else is safe. As you get older, safety goes far beyond what a chid could even imagine, and affects almost every potential type of human exchange on can imagine.
In the name of safety, we can keep certain books banned. In the name of safety, we can declare certain types of thinking a reflection on a reprobate cancer that must be destroyed.
In the name of safety, we can form committees that can declare in secret whose fit for the party and who might be a traito.
In the name of safety we Americans bombed the Middle East to Hell and back again and back to Hell again a few times over.
Any group promising safety whille demanding the safety monitors work to turn in those who don’t work for the safety of everyone (those classified as being human, a classification that will continue to get smaller and smaller as power concentrates) is headed to an authoritarian end. Never let them into the public schools for they hope to destroy the very republic these schools were allegedly created to preserve by transmitting the unity values of a diverse republic bounded by the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution.

The Fairfax County school’s “Mentor Texts for Writing” was partly comprised of two links courtesy of the organization “Woke Kindergarten.”
One link activated a YouTube video, “Safe. By Ki.”
The video explains, “We all deserve to feel safe.”
Safe where? Ki lays it out:
- in our homes
- in our schools
- outside
- everywhere
Plus:
- in our bodies
Ki goes on to name ways in which she feels safe:
- I feel safe when I’m with my dogs.
- I feel safe when I’m with my friends.
- I feel safe when people listen to my feelings.
And:
- I feel safe when there are no police around.
