DNC hopeful Liz Cheney has found herself in the wrong party this upcoming Wyoming Congresswoman GOP Primary season, with her main challenger outpacing her in a telling bellweather straw poll the incumbent traditionally domaintes.
Wyoming Republican Harriet Hageman, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, showed a commanding lead against the Democrat-allied Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) in a Saturday straw poll full of House candidates held by the Wyoming Republican State Central Committee.
A secret ballot straw poll of Republican party activists gave Hageman 59 votes, a 53 vote lead against Cheney, according to the Casper Star-Tribune. Cheney garnered only six votes, along with state Sen. Anthony Bouchard (R-Cheyenne), who received two votes, and Denton Knapp, who received one vote.
After the secret ballot, which came eight months before the state’s Republican primary, Hageman told the Star-Tribune, “I think it’s a good sign. It’s not an endorsement, but these are the county activists.”
It looks like the Chinese state’s efforts to counter the decades-long one-child policy has not paid off, as China looks to start losing its population within the next few years.
China’s population may soon level off and then actively shrink as families have fewer babies and older residents age out of having children, according to new data published this week.
Annual figures show 10.62 million babies were born last year, down a staggering 11.5 percent from 12 million in 2020, the South China Morning Post reports — a troubling development that could end up hurting the country’s economy significantly in the long run and even slow its seemingly inexorable march toward global dominance.
Bad News
Many experts agree the change won’t happen overnight.
“In the next 10 to 20 years, China’s natural population growth will not continue falling, it will fluctuate around zero and could see small drops, but there will not be rapid decreases,” Chen Wei, a professor with the Population Development Studies Centre at Renmin University, told SCMP.
While experts may disagree on exactly how much the country’s population of 1.4 billion people will shrink — with some even arguing that its population could drop by half within 30 years — it’s pretty clear there are a few main causes behind the trend. For one, China didn’t ease enforcement of its one-child policy until 2013, and only raised the limit to two children per household in 2016.
It was too little too late, though, because younger families are now having a hard time making ends meet, and older families have aged out of their childbearing years.
The shrink presents a problem for China’s government and economy. According to the The New York Times, a declining population could create a burden on China’s labor force and younger workers. Because older workers may not be able to hold jobs, the government may struggle to pay for an older population that is living longer.
It might be tempting to think that slow declines in the growth of a population is a good thing given humanity’s massive carbon footprint. But there’s a real human cost to…
LOS ANGELES, California — Gov. Gavin Newsom apologized Friday for using the term “gangs” to describe groups of people who have been attacking and robbing cargo trains near downtown Los Angeles, as he toured the wreckage.
As Breitbart News reported, Newsom arrived at the site and helped a cleanup crew, just days after viral video showed thieves targeting the trains, and debris scattered in every direction, showing torn cardboard boxes that will never reach their destinations.
Newsom professed shock at the devastation, saying it made California look like a “Third World country.”
Jeremy White of Politico noted:
“I’m asking myself, what the hell is going on? We look like a third-world country,” @GavinNewsom says at site of L.A. train theft
According to a recent report by The Jewish Chronicle, which didn’t name or describe its sources, Mossad successfully infiltrated the Iranian supply chain and used the opportunity to sell Tehran faulty materials that caused fires at the Natanz nuclear-enrichment facility in July 2020.
The report also said Israeli intelligence officers recruited Iranian nuclear scientists who conducted sabotage at Natanz in April 2021 before being smuggled out of the country. Mossad is said to have used an unmanned aerial vehicle to attack the Iran Centrifuge Technology Company, a factory making centrifuges crucial for producing weapons-grade uranium.
Khartoum (AFP) – Thousands of Sudanese protesters rallied Monday calling for civilian rule and demanding justice for those killed in crackdowns since a military coup nearly three months ago, an AFP correspondent said.
Crowds in the capital Khartoum chanting slogans against the army headed toward the presidential palace, an area which security forces had sealed off ahead of the march.
Protests were also held in cities including Wad Madani, south of the capital, and the eastern state of Gedaref, according to witnesses.
“No, no to military rule,” and “civilian (rule) is the people’s choice” protesters shouted in Wad Madani, according to witness Emad Mohamed.
Sudan has been rocked by regular protests since the October 25 military power grab led by general Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
The coup derailed a civilian-military power-sharing deal painstakingly negotiated after the 2019…

‘And I just want my right to exercise my profession and help my patients.’

ROME — Former premier Silvio Berlusconi on Saturday bowed out of Italy‘s presidential election set for next week, claiming he had the votes to win but the country could ill-afford political divisions during the pandemic.
Berlusconi also announced that he is opposing, along with his allies in a center-right bloc, any bid for the presidency by Premier Mario Draghi. Draghi, the former head of Europe’s central bank, is now leading a pandemic-unity government with wide political support.
Together, Berlusconi, anti-migrant League leader Matteo Salvini and nationalist Brothers of Italy leader Giorgia Meloni could command some 400 of the 1,009 grand electors who are set to start casting written ballots for Italy’s next president on Monday.
The electors from the lower house of the Italian parliament, the Senate and special regional representatives are tasked with choosing a figure who could unite the country.
Berlusconi, 85, who founded the center-right Forza Italia party three decades ago and…
On Saturday morning, Arizona Democratic Party leaders officially rebuked Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) for siding with Republicans to vote against changing Senate rules to pass voting rights legislation this week. The party’s executive board said it voted to censure Sinema for her “failure to do whatever it takes to ensure the health of our democracy.”
“I want to be clear, the Arizona Democratic Party is a diverse coalition with plenty of room for policy disagreements,” the Democratic leaders wrote in a statement. “However on the matter of the filibuster and the urgency to protect voting rights, we have been crystal clear.”

Jane Mayer of The New Yorker magazine and her fellow lefties are ramping up attacks on conservative Supreme Court justices, as they fear the court is getting ready to issue a host of decisions they won’t like, most especially a ruling that may overturn Roe v. Wade. Mayer published a pathetic “hit” piece last week on Ginni Thomas, a long-time conservative activist and the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas. It’s a dud.
Mayer’s article, titled “Ginni Thomas’ Crusades: Is Ginni Thomas a threat to the Supreme Court?” is full of falsehoods and distortions, consistent with the malicious and error-filled book she co-authored in 1994, “Strange Justice: The Selling of Clarence Thomas.” Weaving together a mishmash of facts, conspiracies, and comments from dial-them-up liberal judicial ethics “experts,” Mayer argues that Ginni Thomas’ political activities and public comments on issues that come before the court require Justice Thomas to recuse himself from…
