BY JOEL M. SKOUSEN: EDITOR, WORLD AFFAIRS BRIEF
My friend Gary North has long warned about the dangers of trying to time one’s exit from the dangerous mega-cities to the last moment when no peaceful exit is possible – trying to catch “the last train out of town,” if you will.
Think about Hurricane Katrina with its grid-locked freeways with thousands stranded in cars not moving, running out of fuel trying to escape the storm bearing down. They tried to get out too late.
I understand why people are reluctant to pull up stakes and leave what still remains of a comfortable lifestyle in suburbia. Each of you has got years of time and labor invested in your home, your job or profession, and made friends and close connections, even if they are dwindling to a few spiritually awake people in this divided world who see what’s happening.
But sufficient time to leave and find safer places is already running out. The steady exodus began in late 2020 as millions realized this exaggerated pandemic with its draconian emergency orders was not going to end – that governments were never going to let us be free again, even if people were naïve enough to take Big Pharma’s dangerous mRNA “vaccine” with all its damaging side effects.
Now, people are facing a never-ending requirement to take booster shots. Eventually, everyone who stays on that train will be vaccine-damaged to some degree and have a weakened immune system.
In 2020, my book Strategic Relocation: North American Guide to Safe Places (4th Ed.) quickly started selling in the thousands and was partly responsible for directing so many people to safer states, away from the high density population centers.
By the year 2021, it had become a headlong rush to get out of California, Oregon, Washington, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, and every other radical “blue” state eager to re-impose Covid restrictions.
Sadly, those moving now are finding the prices of good land and houses rising by 50-100% since before 2020, and availability is drying up fast in the two most highly rated states in Strategic Relocation: Idaho and Utah.
Then building prices went through the roof, making it too expensive for many to build even if they were lucky enough to find raw land or a large building lot. And much of that land in these dry states has no water.
In the highly desirable Intermountain West, with hundreds of miles of desert and mountains separating it from the dangerous population centers in the West Coast, land doesn’t sustain you without water rights.
In short, even though it was wonderful to see so many millions waking up and leaving the tyrannical states, the supply of suitable places to relocate was becoming somewhat limited and expensive. That’s what I mean by time already running out.
It’s not too late by any means, but your choices are going to be restricted by heavy demand, which isn’t going to lessen any time soon. That’s one of the reasons why the McAlvanys asked me to write this column. They and I know that it will only get harder to move to safer places the longer you wait.
[ED. NOTE: I (Don McAlvany) have known and been a close friend with Joel Skousen for over 40 years. Before that, I was mentored (from my early 20’s up) by his brilliant uncle, Cleon Skousen, who wrote the classic book, The Naked Communist, explaining the evil (now successful) strategy and tactics of the communists. Joel is a brilliant geopolitical expert who writes the very insightful World Affair Brief (available weekly online) and who is the country’s foremost expert on strategic relocation and survival architecture. I have personally seen and experienced Joel’s expertise while living in the mountains of Colorado a number of years ago. His insights on the great dangers Americans now face (politically and from potential war on US soil) are second to none. And his genius on how and where to survive in the chaos now heading for America, like an out of control freight train, are invaluable and could one day save your life or the lives of your family. I would strongly recommend that you avail yourself of Joel’s Strategic Relocation books, his writings on survival architecture, and his excellent weekly political/geopolitical/strategic analysis – World Affairs Brief.]
