Today’s struggle for money, power, and (above all) ideological supremacy is playing out on many fronts.
THE BATTLE FOR MONETARY SUPREMACY – History’s great empires have exercised both military and monetary dominance (See the April 2021 MIA). With rampant inflation and a fading petrodollar, how long can the “Exorbitant Privilege” of the United States last? Both Western globalists and China (via its digital yuan) want to lead a digital bank currency, but China is currently far ahead. Nick Giambruno says that unlimited spending in the US “will destroy the currency…With MMT and a UBI, the US has gone beyond the monetary point of no return. That’s why individuals, companies, and foreign governments will inevitably look to alternatives to the US dollar and financial system. As they do, a large part of the US government’s geopolitical leverage will evaporate.” US debt (and the amount held by foreign countries) matters significantly.
ENERGY WARS – The US, Russia, and Saudi Arabia stand as the world’s biggest energy producers. Unlike the West, China and Russia are not canceling pipelines and going green. Through its pipelines, especially the Nord Stream 2, Russia seeks to make Europe energy-dependent. Energy is a key feature of the Ukrainian conflict. Likewise, Iran wields incredible power over 22% of the world’s oil supply through the Straits of Hormuz. In Asia, Myanmar remains a critical source for Chinese energy, especially if the US attempts to block energy imports.
KEY RESOURCES: CHIPS AND RARE EARTH – The US relies heavily on Taiwan, which controls 60% of semiconductor chip production, much of that through Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. A Chinese invasion of Taiwan would cripple US technology. China also controls over 80% of rare earth production. Rare earth metals are critical for both electronic devices and the military and aerospace industries. The Pentagon recently requested $2.3 billion to fund US chip-making.
ECONOMIC AND TRADE WARS – Who will control the global economy and global trade?
CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY – Artificial Intelligence, 5G, hacking units, and space will feature prominently in the emerging cyber warfare. Geopolitical Futures notes that “Huawei’s global footprint…is steadily expanding,” with 36% of its new projects occurring in Africa. Control of the new battleground of space will be critical. Powers could seek to use weather modification to trigger natural disasters and break the food supply of other countries (see Why Global Elites Need Another Crisis, July 2021 MIA).
BIO-SUPREMACY – Countries are racing to develop sophisticated bio-weapons that target enemy populations. China is currently building 25 more Level 4 Virology Labs (like the Wuhan Lab) around the world. The US Naval Institute recently released a lengthy report entitled, “Synthetic Bioweapons Are Coming: Gene-editing advances pose a serious threat.”
NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY – Democrats are trying to stop the US from building a new ICBM to re-place the outdated Minuteman III defense missile, even though it is cheaper to develop a new system. Mean-while, according to the New York Times, “North Korea’s stockpile of nuclear weapons and fuel has roughly doubled in the past four years.” Admiral Charles A. Richard, head of the US Strategic Command, said that China’s military is rapidly expanding its nuclear forces and “are nearing completion of deploying a full strategic nuclear triad – land-based missiles, submarines, and bombers.”
INFORMATION WAR – Propaganda is necessary to prepare a country’s citizens to accept war and to marshal public opinion on the global stage. The Washington Free Beacon reported, “Chinese Propaganda Outlet Paid Millions to American Newspapers and Magazines, Records Show.” While Chinese officials tell their people to prepare for war, prominent globalist politicians and think tanks are demonizing both China and Russia (why did it take them so long to acknowledge the threat?).
CULTURAL AND DEMOGRAPHIC COMPETITION – Chinese strategists believe they need more space and resources for their 1.4 billion people and that America holds the answer. While Russia, China, and America all have birth rates below the replacement rate, the US is destroying itself culturally. China and Russia’s militaries are not going “woke.” In 2015, US students were ranked at 25th in science and 39th in math.
