The Virginia Supreme Court on Monday upheld the reinstatement of a Loudoun County gym teacher who had been suspended after he spoke against a policy that protects transgender students.

The Loudoun County School Board earlier this month approved Policy 8040, which allows trans students to use their preferred names and pronouns and school facilities that align with their gender identity. This policy is in accordance with legislation that Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam signed into law last year.

….Tanner Cross, a gym teacher at Leesburg Elementary School, at a May 25 hearing stated it was against his beliefs to “affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa” and was placed on administrative leave.

Hurricane Ida caused widespread power outages across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Two people have been killed and 10 injured in a road collapse on a Mississippi highway, likely triggered by heavy rains unleashed by Hurricane Ida, officials said.

Three people among those injured were in critical condition, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said on Tuesday.

“We’ve had a lot of rain with Ida, torrential,” Mississippi Highway Patrol officer Calvin Robertson said. “Part of the highway just washed out.”

Seven vehicles plunged into a deep ditch that resulted from the highway collapse, local media reported.

Ida, one of the most powerful hurricanes ever to hit the US Gulf Coast, had weakened to a…

The suspected gunman in two separate shootings that killed a Lyft driver in Garland and targeted people inside the Plano Police Department on Sunday has died, police said Monday.

Imran Ali Rasheed, 32, “may have been inspired by a foreign terrorist organization to commit these crimes,” an FBI official said during a joint press conference with the Garland and Plano police departments.

Police investigators and the FBI are working to determine if Sunday’s attack should be classified as an “act of terrorism.”

Dallas FBI Special Agent in Charge Matthew De Sarno made clear that “inspired by” an organization does not mean Rasheed was directed by an outside group.

Iran’s Bet on Autonomous Weapons

Attempting to pass off a child’s astronaut costume as an innovation of Iran’s space agency was bizarre but familiar. Shared online by Minister of Information and Communications Technology Azari Jahromi in February 2020, the fit-for-Halloween suit exemplified the Iranian government’s penchant for fabricating technical achievements, whether through farcical stealth fighter jets, fake space monkeys, or oil drum surface-to-air missiles.

Iran’s history of shameless exaggeration leaves plenty of reason for skepticism when the nation’s military unveils new capabilities or when Iranian officials announce ambitious technological goals, as they did earlier this year. In a widely publicized January exercise, the Iranian Army…

1 antibody neutralizes a bunch of COVID virus variants

Researchers have identified an antibody that is highly protective at low doses against a wide range of variants of the virus that causes COVID-19.

The virus today is not the same as the one that first sickened people back in December 2019. Many of the variants circulating now are partially resistant to some of the antibody-based therapeutics that were developed based on the original virus. As the pandemic continues, more variants inevitably will arise, and the problem of resistance will only grow.

The newly identified antibody attaches to a part of the virus that differs little across the variants, meaning that it is unlikely for resistance to arise at this spot.

The research, which appears in the journal Immunity, could be a step toward developing new antibody-based therapies that are less likely to lose their potency as the virus mutates.

The CDC Eviction Moritorium Ends After SCOTUS Ruling

Eviction Moratorium: Supreme Court Strike Down CDC Regulation

From www.nationalreview.com

Excerpt:

Well, we have our answer to the question of whether Justice Brett Kavanaugh would sit still for Joe Biden daring him to do his job. The CDC’s renewed, flagrantly unlawful eviction moratorium survived in the district court and in the D.C. Circuit because Kavanaugh had failed to join the other four justices who found the original moratorium to exceed the agency’s lawful authority. Kavanaugh agreed, but gave the Biden administration breathing room to unwind the old moratorium and get authorization from Congress before handing down a new one. Biden gave him the finger. This time, with the Court’s institutional credibility and the rule of law itself on the line, not only Kavanaugh but Chief Justice John Roberts joined a 6–3 ruling striking down the moratorium on the grounds that it “strains…

Myanmar’s bilateral relations with Russia have reached a new level since the February coup, said the regime’s spokesman Major General Zaw Min Tun.

“The two countries maintained good relations under the National League for Democracy government but relations with Russia are deeper now. Russia plays the central part in Myanmar’s air defense systems, followed by China. And the cooperation between the air forces is expanding,” said the spokesman.

Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun praised Russia for its advanced weapons technology. The junta wants a world-class Russian air defense system, he added.

A military delegation from Myanmar, led by General Maung Maung Aye, chief of the general staff, was in Moscow to attend the International Military Technical Forum “Army 2021” and participate in the…

Former Democratic leader on the California State Senate Gloria Romero endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder this week because of his position on education.

“I chose Larry Elder I think largely because of his understanding of education, the experience that he’s lived, being an African American youth, man, and I went with him,” Romero told The Federalist in an interview on Thursday. “He has spoken eloquently on the failure of the education system and why school choice is so important, especially for communities of color.”

Romero’s endorsement is just one of the newest developments in the Golden State’s close upcoming recall election that will determine the fate of Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom. There are a lot of reasons why Newsom could be recalled, including his tyrannical COVID-19 rules, his failure to address the state’s energy crisis, and his hierarchical hypocrisy through it all, but Romero said his flippant attitude towards schools is the…

Nine attorneys aligned with former President Donald Trump who filed an unsuccessful lawsuit challenging Michigan’s 2020 presidential election results will have to pay financial penalties and face other punitive actions for their legal effort, a district court judge ruled on Wednesday.

“This lawsuit represents a historic and profound abuse of the judicial process,” U.S. District Judge Linda Parker wrote in her scathing decision on the case.

“It is one thing to take on the charge of vindicating rights associated with an
allegedly fraudulent election,” she wrote. “It is another to take on the charge of deceiving a federal court and the American people into believing that rights were infringed, without regard to whether any laws or rights were in fact violated. This is what happened here.”

The ruling stems from a lawsuit brought by the attorneys — including Trump backers Sidney Powell and Lin Wood — which sought to decertify…
