The Oregon legislature is considering a bill that would give “emergency funds” to local news journalists and news rooms. The bill would create a working group that would create a model for the disbursement of such funds by November 2024.
In support of House Bill 2605, the sponsor of the Bill, Rep. Khan Pham (D-Portland) said “Democracy depends on an informed public. In the vacuum left by these local media going under, we’re seeing misinformation and disinformation rushing in to fill that vacuum, which is very destructive to community cohesion and democratic discourse.”
The party in power is known for supporting hate speech laws and terrorist groups like Antifa that preach the gospel of political violence through their commitment to “punch Nazis.” This is the party that is going to be the agent to disburse taxpayer dollars to “journalists” (aka DNC activists) and news stations (aka DNC agit prop machines).
Remember the old adage, “He who owns the gold sets the rules,” and ask yourself if you’d like to live in a world in which the government holds the gold for the media. This is the further merger of corporation and state at the cost of American liberty.
