
After a leftist Manhattan judge ruled in 20212 that NYC’s teachers’ entrance exam was racist, NYC eventually decided to no longer appeal the ruling but rather began settling with black and Hispanic teachers who failed the exam. 95 percent of whites passed the test while only 53 percent of black and 50 percent of Hispanics passed the text. So far, since former Mayor Bill de Blasio stopped the appeal in 2018, the city of New York has given out $750 billion to failed teachers, with at least one collecting over $2 million after failing multiple times.
It is expected the city of New York will give out more than $1.8 billion in total settling a case that still has plenty of appeals available for it. There is an irony in the fact that people who failed to successfully demonstrate minimal competence to serve in the NY Public School system as teachers are now costing that same school system nearly $2 billion to assuage their hurt at failing. Talk about failing up……
