UPDATE:  So far, our efforts to try to confirm any involvement by any agent outside of local and state police has not been successful.  We have every reason to believe that no Federal agents from any agency were involved in this operation, though we are still not prepared to say agents from the Attorney General’s office were or were not involved.
We will be doing a follow-up of this story after we talk to a  number of officials tomorrow.

We are aware of the activity that was first reported in Elkland, and then reported in additional locations in Tioga County.  We have held off on reporting this as we had reason to believe the operations were still in a sensitive stage.  We have reason to believe that this stage in the operations has passed, and, given the fact that reports of this operation are now widespread on social media, we have decided that now is the time to report what we have confirmed, as well as what we have multiple reports of (from our readers).

Here is what we know so far.  There is a major drug bust operation currently underway in Tioga County.  We have had reports of between 30 and 40 people that have been picked up, but those reports are unconfirmed.  We attempted to talk to the Mansfield State Police Barracks, the Elkland Police Department and the Tioga County DA’s office  We have confirmation of an ongoing operation, but no official would offer details.

We have had unconfirmed reports of officers from the PA State Attorney General’s office being involved, though we could get no confirmation from that office.

We have had sightings of activity from our readers in Elkland, Mansfield, Knoxville, Westfield and Tioga.  We have had numerous messages from readers citing activity at these locations.

We have also had a few reports of FBI sightings, agents in flack jackets that read “Special Agent.”  We believe, though unconfirmed, that the bulk of the operations have already happened.  We advise our readers to make sure to yield to any official traffic on the road and otherwise steer clear of any activity you might see.

We will follow this story as it develops.  We do expect, by tomorrow, to have much more details and confirmed information to share.  We have no reason to believe that the public is facing any safety issues so we will continue with caution in the information that we share as we are able to obtain more confirmed information.
