This is a video from a week before a long gunman attacked and killed multiple people at a Baptist Church in Texas.

The church is a rather conservative congregation in a small rural town. Authorities and locals are left with the question of why this has happened.

The church was founded in 2926 and has around 250 members, although early reports indicate as few as 50 people were in attendance at 11:00 to 11:15 am local when a gunman entered, It is reported the gunman reloaded multiple times. 27 people are reported to be deceased, including the Pastor’s 14-year-old daughter. Other children are among the deceased, and both children and adults were wounded.

The attacker was cornered in Guadalupe County, 5 miles from the church, and was reportedly dispatched by police. The fact the attacker fled the scene and did not commit suicide will factor into an analysis of their psychological profile.

It’s not known what kind of weapon, other than a firearm, the attacker used.

During this last sermon before the attack, the sermon focused on living upright before God, using the example learning for to ride a motorcycle.

The church was not known to preach anything controversial, and seems to have had a lot of love and acceptance for others, without compromosing their beliefs. The Pastor wrote this on the church’s Facebook page on October 8, 2017:

Witches are people too, try loving them.

…by another classmate, “What is it like to be a Christian?” The girl replied, “it’s like being a pumpkin. God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off you. Then he cuts open the top and scoops out all of the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc., and then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all…

I think that we would all agree that this is a really creative way to share the Gospel message. However, there are those who would scold the young lady for using something that they refer to as Halloween props. Remember this pumpkin was crated by God to not only be eaten but to also be used in any way that glorifies His kingdom. We need to stop and remember that all things were created by Him and for Him before we start condemning and hurting others for our own convictions. There are some things we should speak out against, yet many of the things we condemn others for are really our own pet peeves, not God’s. Pray before you speak this season and let’s remember that we are to build the Kingdom of God, not drive people away.
