VA deal reached between the House and the Senate
Breaking News- POLITICS- Paul Gordon Collier- Today, lawmakers from the House and Senate have announced a deal to tackle some of the pressing issues in the Veterans Affairs Healthcare program. A deal has been struck that will authorize billions of dollars to be distributed to lease 27 new VA Healthcare clinics, as well as to immediately hire more doctors and nurses.
The deal also creates new regulations to allow for veterans to more easily get care outside of the VA system if there are delays. The exact amount of funding has not been announced. The deal will now have to go to the full House and Senate for consideration.
The legislation is being pushed to be completed before the August recess. This is the last week of legislative action before the August recess begins. The recess runs from August 1st to September 7th.
