Santorum kills Impeachment proceeding against Bill Clinton- conservative purity in name only exposed

Santorum South Carolina Primary- How Rick Santorum stopped the impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton- Collier Brothers

Rick Santorum tells South Carolina voters that he is the only conservative purist in the field, attacking Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney for being unreliable conservatives. Well, THE FREEDOMIST has already exposed Rick Santorum for his betrayal of a core conservative value, the right to work, the protection against Union thuggery. He is FOR right to work but NEVER votes for right to work legislation. He also endorsed Arlen Specter in his 1996 Presidential run, in 2004 against true conservative Pat Toomey, AND even endorsed Mitt Romney in his 2008 Presidential run.
Well, worse than even his right to vote betrayal and his endorsements of RINOS and future democrats was the work that he did as a Senator in the Clinton years, when he and Trent Lott undermined the Senate efforts to bring Bill Clinton to trial after the House impeached him for lying under oath.

That’s right, this pure conservative, who attacks like a tiny lap dog (see Thursday’s debate for a classic example of what an attack lap dog looks like when he nips at the heels of others), was instrumental, along with Trent Lott, in stopping the Clinton Impeachmment proceeedings, in rescuing Bill Clinton from facing a fair trial of his peers. This action should not be surprising to the people who remember how aggressively Rick Santorum worked to torpedo a true conservative, Pat Toomey, in 2004, from removing a future democrat and former RINO, Arlen Specter.

Here is all the proof you need to see that Santorum, in fact, killled the impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton, just another reflection of how Santorum is the face of Conservative Purity in Name Only (CPINO- which also sounds like the name of an exotic small wolf dop that yips and yips and yips at everyon’e ankles):

Diary, Telephone Call, Speaker Newt Gingrich,

December 30, 1998

Newt said he was livid with Lott and asked what I thought about the

Senate leader’s idea. I tore into the suggestion and said I would not be

a party to him tossing out our case. I said we should show up in their

chamber on the day appointed and demand to present our case. If they

refused, we would walk out. Under no circumstance would we give Lott

or any other pantywaist Republican senator cover. We would make them

commit this betrayal in public.

Newt agreed strongly: “The Managers must be firm on this. Henry

Hyde cannot give in. This is about much more than his reputation and his

legacy. It is about the Constitution and the defense of it.” Newt said that

if Lott pushes this, he will destroy his Republican majority in the Senate.

I told Newt that I thought our conservative base would torch Lott if

he forced this idea. Newt agreed that Lott risked losing his leadership

position if he tried. Newt volunteered to help fire up our troops,

suggesting we “unleash” Majority Whip Tom DeLay [called “The

Hammer” for his political hardball instincts] and get this story out to

conservative editors, columnists, and talk radio hosts. Newt then caught

himself and wondered aloud whether he should be involved, saying,

“I’m not there anymore.”

I reminded him he was still there: technically Newt remained as

Speaker and a Member of Congress until he resigned his seat formally.

“By the way,” I added, “we may need to swear you in to the new Congress

so you can vote with us on reappointing House Managers. We’ve heard

some of our anti-impeachment Republicans might not stand with us.”

When I told him that passing a reappointment resolution might be a

problem with some Republicans, Newt blew his stack:

“This is so fundamental that nobody—nobody—gets a free vote

on this,” he shouted. “If any member of our conference won’t vote to

reappoint Managers, we should drum them out of the Republican Party.

Let them become Democrats, and let Dick Gephardt become Speaker.

Let him then try to govern the House with a one-vote majority. This is

traitorous. We must enforce a party line vote….” Newt said, “Let these guys

become Democrats if that is their game and make them show their true colors.”

After this call, I took heart when a staffer handed me a message

that Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) wanted to speak with me.

Elected to the Senate just two years earlier, Santorum had been a

conservative House stalwart who appeared to be the rare exception

to my senatorial hypothesis about new members breathing the

ether in The Other Body. I felt sure that if anyone might go to bat

for us with Trent Lott, it was Rick.

Diary, Telephone Conversation with Senator Rick Santorum,

December 31, 1998

I told Rick that Trent Lott was trying to sell all of us out and dump

the impeachment case against Clinton. I said Lott was acting out

of expediency in wanting to make a political headache just go away,

despite the evidence.

“Oh, the Leader would never do that,” Rick said defensively.

“The Leader” would never do that?

The more Rick defended Lott, the deeper my heart sank in

realizing another good guy drank the Senate’s collegiality Kool-Aid.

I told Rick I would recommend to Henry Hyde that we flatly reject

participating in anything that resembled a one-day submission on the

record so the Senate could sidestep a public trial. I also made clear that

I would vigorously and publicly object to any attempt by Lott to define

impeachable offenses as a predicate to the Senate deciding whether to

let us to try our case.

Rick said Lott was concerned about the upcoming 2000 Senate

elections, and Lott’s fear he might lose Republican seats over this

unpopular cause. As one facing defeat myself, I told him I understood,

but our obligation was to the Constitution and not worrying about

elections two years away…. “I wonder what kind of man we have in the Oval

Office?” he asked.

“I’ll tell you what kind of man we have in the Oval Office, Rick,”

I replied. “We have an impeached man in the Oval Office. And we

need you guys to let us come over and show you why.”

[Note: near the end of this conversation, Santorum started backing off on his defense of Lott. However, it was a short-lived shot of courage. A few days later, he was planted firmly in Lott’s hip pocket, as the following excerpts show]

Diary, Telephone Call with Senator Rick Santorum,

January 7, 1999, 5:00 p.m.

Santorum said that Lott is proposing the senators have a bipartisan

caucus tomorrow morning to adopt his latest proposal: have the House

Managers and the President’s attorneys argue their respective cases for

four weeks, and then the Senate will vote on whether to allow a trial with

witnesses. However, the Senate will also entertain a White House motion

to dismiss the case outright.

Santorum confessed that under Lott’s plans, the House Managers

should “assume that you will get no witnesses.”

Trent Lott apparently stood nearby when Santorum told me this,

because as my colorful response blared from Santorum’s telephone

receiver, Lott took the phone from him and came on the line

with me:

Lott said he wanted to meet with all the House Managers at 6:00

p.m. tonight. “Jim, we want to give you your trial and let you call your

witnesses,” he told me. “So let’s all get together with your Managers

tonight and show you that we aren’t out to be the enemy. I should have

just done this myself the first time instead of using intermediaries.”

Did I just hear him correctly? After presuming Lott to be the

boogeyman wanting to scuttle our case before we could present

it, had all this been a misunderstanding from the start? With this

personal assurance, I felt a sudden ray of hope.

Our staff rounded up the other House Managers for the meeting

in our Judiciary Committee conference room. Before Lott arrived,

I related my conversation to the group, along with Lott’s assurance

that he wants to make sure we call live witnesses. Manager Chris

Cannon interrupted me:

“I just spoke to [Utah Republican Senator] Bob Bennett,”

Cannon said. “Bennett told me, ‘You guys just lost. The Senate

plans to kill off your hope of calling any witnesses.’” Manager Bill

McCollum shared that he just received the same message from

Senator Mike DeWine (R-OH).

Fuming over Lott’s apparent smoke blowing over the telephone,

I renewed my motion that we should refuse to participate in any

proceeding where the senators block us from calling witnesses. Bob

Barr agreed, and made a motion to give Chairman Hyde authority

to tell Lott we would refuse to proceed without witnesses. Henry

took the middle ground, saying we should take two days in the

Senate to make our case as to why we need witnesses. “Otherwise,”

he feared, “we might appear to be sore losers.”

Trent Lott and Rick Santorum interrupted our discussion when

they arrived together at 6:15 p.m. After expressing his love for the

House and claiming fond memories of his own days there, Lott

lamented that the Senate is a more complicated body to lead:

“I want you to have a chance to put on your case,” Lott told us. “But

‘putting on your case’ means opening statements and maybe some

evidence. There is no guarantee that you will get any witnesses. Maybe

you can get some witnesses later, but keep in mind you always face a

motion to adjourn the trial from the Democrats.”

Some of the Managers didn’t wait for Lott to finish speaking

before weighing in:

Chris Cannon accused Lott of trying to get us to participate in a sham

trial. Bob Barr snapped at Lott, “We don’t hear you guys on TV telling

everyone you are fighting for us to be able to call witnesses. All we hear

is you Senate Republicans saying we need to convince you that we need

witnesses.”

Growing defensive, Lott shot back, “I’m not prepared to agree to fight

for your right to call witnesses without justification. I’m doing my best

to hold the line on our moderate Republican senators. They may vote

against the Articles of Impeachment themselves if you keep pushing this

witness issue!”

“Without witnesses,” Bill McCollum interrupted, “Clinton stands no

chance of ever being convicted and removed.”

“At least you’ll stand a chance to have your side heard,” Lott replied.

When my turn came, I ridiculed his position, given that the Senate

routinely spends months on judicial impeachments, and reminded him

that in Judge Alcee Hastings’ recent impeachment trial, the Senate

heard from fifty-five witnesses. I accused Lott of wanting us to come

and argue why we should have a trial, and then he wants to call that

argument the “trial.”

Next, I said the White House and the Senate Democrats fought

so hard against having any live witnesses called: with witnesses, the

Democrats have no control over an otherwise preordained verdict of

acquittal. “The Managers understand why the Democratic senators

don’t want witnesses,” I goaded, “but why on earth are you Republican

senators afraid of them?”

Finally, I told Lott that if he really was fearful that moderate Republicans

would vote against impeachment articles out of revenge if we asked for

witnesses, then Lott should reverse the order of his proposal: have us

argue to the Senate why we needed witnesses for a trial, and then let the

Senate vote. If the Senate refuses our request, we should announce that

the Senate has rendered us unable to proceed and walk out.

Lott and Santorum shared a panic-stricken look.

Santorum blurted, “If we did that, then you guys could leave and say you never got a trial!”

With that comment, both Lott and Santorum tipped their hand. Here,

ultimately, was their plan: call their charade a trial, and then let the history

books record Clinton’s acquittal after an impeachment “trial.”

Lott distributed copies of his final “no-witness” trial plan. He

asked us to review it, and then he and Santorum stepped out of the

room to await our decision.

A glum-looking Henry Hyde said he was willing to go along

with Lott’s plan. Bob Barr spoke against it vociferously. I joined

Barr in suggesting we return to the Senate to argue for our right to

have a trial, but refuse to cooperate with this plan.

Henry summoned Lott and Santorum back to the room. “I’m

getting great resistance to your plan from my team,” Henry told

them, and repeated our willingness to come and argue for our right

to have a full trial. Lott then reiterated Santorum’s earlier concern

that if they agreed to this, and if the Senate later refused to give us

witnesses, “you guys might later say there never was a trial.”

There it was again. Stripped bare were all the earlier winks and

nods about calling witnesses later in the trial. Lott and Santorum

stalked out of the room amid hostile comments from our team.

Diary, U.S. Senate Floor During Impeachment Proceedings

against President Clinton,

Saturday, February 6, 1999

[After a long day of being battered by hostile senators who made sure the House Managers could not present evidence to convict Clinton, the House Managers gathered off the Senate floor for a quick strategy session]

Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) interrupted our meeting. When he said

he wanted to give us “advice,” some of us started grumbling. We all liked

Rick, but he was there to do Trent Lott’s bidding.

“You guys did a great job…,” Santorum gushed at

Asa [Hutchinson] and me. “For the first time, our Republican senators are listening to

the facts and thinking that having witnesses is valuable . . .”

I interrupted Santorum: “Rick, if your colleagues now find the testimony

so enlightening and valuable, why don’t you go back and tell them

there’s much more where that came from. Go back and make a motion

to open this up to live witnesses, and to have a real trial.”

Suddenly, Rick’s demeanor turned dour. “Oh, that will never do,” he

replied.

Wrong answer; I remember vividly taking out some pent-up

exasperation on my friend Rick:

“If you won’t make that motion,” I snapped at him, “then get the

fuck out of here.”

Some Managers laughed and jeered at Rick, who grew quite flustered.

“I was just trying to be helpful,” he said. “If you don’t want my advice,

then I’ll leave.” Henry tried to assuage Rick’s feelings as other Managers

continued heckling him [as he stormed out of the room]. Senate’s Republican led sell-out of our case.

GINGRICH AND THE CLINTON IMPEACHMENT

….In fact, if there is any presidential candidate running for the GOP nomination in 2011 who needs to come clean on his role in the failure to oust Clinton for high crimes and misdemeanors, it is Rick Santorum.

It was Santorum who worked side-by-side with Trent Lott to ensure no real impeachment trial, one where witnesses would be called and evidence submitted, would ever take place in the U.S. Senate. And that is exactly what came to pass.

Now, I generally like Rick Santorum. I think he is a feisty advocate for conservative principles. But on the impeachment of Bill Clinton, Santorum served as Trent Lott’s toady. Those are the facts. Politics is a complicated business. Sometimes the good guys err, and the bad guys get it right….

Reports- US Forces In Jordan

US Troops Reported In Jordan

We are seeing numerous unconfirmed reports that US forces are inside of Jordan at this hour, but their intentions and their planned length of stay is not known.

While some reports claim that US forces are deployed opposite of the Syrian border with Jordan to forestall Syrian forays into the Hashemite Kingdom, other possibilities are far less ominous.

When the US went to war against Iraq, American forces transited through Jordan from Aqaba and some deployed to help with Iraqi refugees.

This may be what is happening now US forces may be transiting in reverse, from Iraq via Jordan to the port of Aqaba. Additionally, US forces may be helping with Syrian refugees.

If, however, US forces have deployed to Jordan to defend against a possible Syrian incursion, this would violate the spirit and letter of the War Powers act, placing US forces in potential combat zones without even a nod towards Congress. This would prove controversial in the extreme, especially in today’s political climate.

If US forces have deployed from Iraq to Jordan to stave off a potential Syrian move it would most likely be the result of some form of substantiated intelligence. The Syrian regime is still smarting over an incursion of Syrian protestors into Jordan who attacked their embassy in Amman and may also be targeting refugees with operatives who infiltrate the Syrian refugee camps in Jordan. The threat, therefore, may be more covert than overt and merely having US forces “pause” en route to Aqaba could be enough.

Other possibilities, however, include a potential positioning of forces for a new Libya-like intervention should the opposition in Syria materialize into a cohesive force that can take and hold territory. The “no-fly zone” approach has been used with telling effect against Serbia, Saddam Hussein, and Qhadafi. US ground forces would prevent an incursion into Jordan and could even protect Iraq, whose government is alarmed at the possibility of being flooded with Syrian refugees.

The transiting of US troops out of Iraq through Jordan makes perfect sense however it is possible that this could be a good cover for other purposes as well.

State Senate Race In Illinois Garners National Attention- Lennie Jarratt

In the 31st State Senate District in Illinois Lennie Jarratt’s bid to be the new State Senator is getting national attention among rank and file conservative activists. Jarratt, a long-time proven fighter for conservative causes and values, has won the admiration and support of many of his peers as a faithful defender of freedom for all against the encroachment of big brother government.

Jarrat’s own story in private and public employment as well as in his own business, providing web design services, is a typical American story these days- an honest, hard-working citizen whose greatest obstacles seem to be the big brother government policies coming from Washington DC and Springfield Illinois. When Jarratt learned that his bank would get more money, thanks to government policies, to foreclose on him after an 11 month period of unemployment than to settle with him, his thoughts turned to the thousands of other citizens in Illinois who were probably facing the same problem, with NO help or support from their elected officials.

Jarrat’s campaign motto is “Supporting Families, Not Government” and this sets the tone for his whole campaign, a campaign that has been endorsed by Illinois Conservatives and is lauded on many national conservative blogs and websites.

Pro Family

The family is the basic unit of our society and it must be preserved. Income tax hikes, property tax hikes and the continual raising of fees are sapping the hard earned money from the families and businesses of Illinois.

Property Taxes

Lake County has the highest property taxes in the Midwest and the 14th highest in the country according to Forbes magazine. Budgets are shrinking, yet taxing bodies never stop increasing these taxes. Families should not be squeezed any more. It is time to restore fiscal sanity to Springfield and reform this state sanctioned local tax.

Income Taxes

Illinois is currently is in the 48th worst financial position*. The 66% tax increase on individuals and 45% increase on the companies that drive our economy caused unemployment to rise to 10%.

Foreclosures

1 in 295 Lake County homes received foreclosure filings in September. In October, the rate climbed to 1 in 271. There are over 2500 active cases in the courts here in Lake County, of which mine is one. I too am living the reality of bad tax and spend policies destroying the jobs families rely on.

Education

Education is the key to the future. All children deserve access to a quality education to unlock their door to excel. We need to empower parents to be able to better direct their child’s education, be it public school, private school, charter school, home school, or other alternatives. The parents know their child best.

Honest Government

Every citizen has the right to expect open and honest government. We should never have to pay a corruption tax as the price of government graft and back room dealings.

Pro 2nd Amendment

It’s simple, the right to bear arms is enshrined in our Constitution and it should not be infringed upon.

Aside from his stance on particular issues, the Freedomist has found him to be capable, credible, honest, a man of his word, and consistently reliable. Often people give lip service to these things, make great promises, do little, and THEN insist on getting credit and glory for things they did not actually do! Lennie has often done more than he says he will while often letting others “get the glory” who did much less, and that without complaint.

But while Jarratt may have earned a good reputation, which explains some of the interest in his candidacy among national activists, there are other reasons for this interest.

Jarrat’s district, the 31st State Senate District, is in the region of northern Chicago and many conservatives believe that a Jarratt win here would prove that running on a conservative platform is in fact a “mainstream” value, contrary to the Karl Roves of the GOP who insist that one has to be center-left (what they call “moderate” or even “independent”) to win elections.

These two schools of thought, one that says that candidates can run on conservative values and win voters over and the other that assumes the media’s view of “mainstream” is the right view that candidates need to conform to, are looking at the 31st State Senate District as a bell-weather for the validity of their approach.

While polls have not been conducted in the district, Jarrat’s involvement in helping dozens of local conservative candidates win elections over the past 4 years seems to indicate that creating a solid “ground game” will not be a problem for his campaign, even if his financial war chest is not on par with the establishment candidates GOP progressives will run against him.

Silent Coup In Pakistan- Islamists Seize Power In Pakistan

Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, may have already been “deposed” in a silent coup by Islamist insiders with the backing of the ISI, Pakistan’s intelligence service which is notoriously pro-Islamist in its agenda. While Zardari is off to Dubai for what could be anything from a routine check-up to a life-threatening heart condition, it is becoming obvious in many circles that the real power in Islamabad is in the hands of a coterie of ultra-Islamist insiders.

The “silent coup” is being orchestrated behind the scenes in a series of seemingly innocuous moves, right under the nose of US intelligence assets which are hamstrung by directives from the White House which are focusing more on placating Pakistani sensibilities than spying on their inner workings and shifting motives.

Fears of an Islamist coup to take over Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, which are resulting in what some see as an over-the-top policy of appeasement in the face of countless Pakistani provocations, may have already been realized in what may now be a bigger intelligence failure than the failure to detect the coming of the 911 attacks by Islamist forces. The whole effort to prevent a coup by a policy of overlooking countless Pakistani offenses may already have met with failure and, even now, Islamist forces may have access to nuclear weapons.

Regardless of the status of the Pakistani President, or the real reasons for his ailment and his departure to Dubai, the Islamist forces that run the ISI now appear to be on the ascent in all branches of the Pakistani government, from the Presidential palace to the military.

 

 

Is Gloria Allred’s Lynch Mob Partner, Sharon Bialek, A Marketing Executive?- Sharon Bialek

Sharon Bialek, claiming to be a tea party supporter, made a lot of wild accusations against Herman Cain.

Her allegations have no basis of external proof, it is stricly a "she-said/he-said" deal, and her lawyer is the infamous Gloria Alred, who famously trumpeted the accusers of the Duke Lacrosse team, ruinbing their seaon, only to see her client exposed as an outright liar.

Why would THIS matter?

If Bialek is a marketing executive whose firm worked on "branding" and "media communications". then this would make sense. No doubt Cain's accuser, if she IS a marketing executive, knows that she will be the darling of the liberal elite social circles and hereafter never lack for a good place of employment.

Is what she is saying TRUE?

So far the accuser has claimed that she is a registered republican and tea party supporter.

In Illinois there are no "registered" this or that, unlike in Pennsylvania where you delcare a party, in Illinois, you don't. So then nobody could ossibly substantiate this claim.

Emails Show U.S. Copyright Czar Was Very Close With Content Industry

A few months ago, Hollywood and a few major record labels banded together. They did this to urge ISPs to disrupt the internet connection for anyone trying to break copyright laws. This means people illegally downloading music or movies. This coming at a time when peer-to-peer file sharing is increasing among kids, and even more lawsuits are being thrown around.

This is not very surprising, when you look at the surface. Hollywood banded together with some major record labels and implored ISPs to stop people from pirating stuff that is theirs. While some of the filters ISPs were using were rather vague, it was a good effort to try and stop people from illegally downloading music and films. When you look into the issue closer, though, you find something that is a little more sinister than companies looking out for themselves, you find the government.

According to documents released (internal e-mails), key administration officials, including the U.S. Copyright Czar all played active roles in the negotiations that lead to ISPs disrupting internet services to those suspected of illegally downloading music or film. One of these officials used her own personal email to speak with lobbyists from a variety of companies, one of those being AT&T.

The New York Sun had an interesting take on the GOP jobs bill that most media outlets, even “new media”, are not addressing at all.  What is the underlying issue behind America’s faultering economy?  What is the devil underneath the surface that is causing American jobs to go overseas?  What is the 800 pound gorilla in the room that NO ONE sees, the one that is tearing up American enterprise and building up Chinese economic war machines with all their yuen-subsidized guns pointed RIGHT at Wall Street (maybe they’ll miss and hit OCCUPY WALL STREET)?

It’s encouraging to see the Republicans put forth a jobs bill, but — confound it — the measure as outlined by Senators Portman, DeMint, Paul, Jordan, and McCain is missing an essential element. This is sound money, the lack of which is emerging as a central cause of America’s current travail. The failure of the GOP jobs bill to address this point is all the more troubling, because leaders like Messr. DeMint and Dr. Paul understand so clearly the monetary issue, as they made clear when, earlier this year, they introduced a bill known as the Sound Money Promotion Act, which this newspaper was the first to endorse.

Epic Systems doesn’t seem to care if your doctor and your surgeon can communicate about your medical history in an emergency- what they want is a monopoly strangelhold (worth BILLIONS in taxpayer dollars) over ALL medical records (thanks to a new rule being pushed by the Obama Administration and they’ll get it unless Congress stops them! Judy Faulkner could gain a near monopoly over the entire “Health IT” sector through the leveraging of her insider political status with ruthless practices designed to give her company an unfair and unethical advantage in the marketplace. Faulkner, who owns Epic Systems, is getting paid by US Taxpayers to control digital access to hundreds of thousands of US citizens’ medical records and could soon control millions upon millions of medical records and get BILLIONS in taxpayer dollars.

This is theft by regulatory fiat and by insider politics, crony socialism at its worse.

Judy Faulkner is a hyper partisan and big donor to ultra Progressive causes. In the past she has even called for virtual boycotts of businesses that supported other political causes or candidates and has even pulled contracts with providers for purely political reasons.

Judy Faulkner's EPIC FAIL!

Faulkner sees no problem, for instance, in being named to a panel that is in charge of handing out contracts to companies that provide digital record-keeping services while getting many of the best contracts herself.

What is more, Faulkner is supposed to be on this panel to provide expertise on something called interoperability. In a nutshell, that means that the government wants to ensure that different providers who NEED to see your medical records can access them easily, even if they all use different software platforms. The problem is that Faulkner’s company, Epic systems, sells a software platform that does not communicate with other software platforms.

In other words, if your doctor uses Epic Systems and your surgeon doesn’t they can’t share your information digitally in an emergency!

So why did Faulkner get named to a panel that is supposed to promote such “interoperability” when her company is the only major player in its field that explicitly, and ruthlessly, refuses to let its platform “talk” to other platforms?

The answer is simple: Faulkner is a big Obama supporter and fundraiser and has inside connections with the Obama administration.

In what amounts to a bad case of doublespeak, Faulkner is being asked to oversee the implementation of a policy goal, interoperability, that her company singularly refuses to participate in. This would be like having a KKK member being named to a panel that is supposed to promote the end of race-based separatism and discrimination.

What we see in Epic Systems is a dangerous mix of partisan extremism, and no doubt if they control your medical records they will not hesitate to use that power in partisan ways we can’t even imagine, while getting billions in taxpayer dollars, giving hundreds of millions back to Progressive political causes to finance more of the same kind of crony socialism.

Rumors abound that Faulkner and Epic Systems will get the contract if a new rule requiring that ALL medical records be shared with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).Under this rule the federal government would require that insurance companies submit detailed health care information about their patients. (The rule is available online at gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2011-07-15/pdf/2011-17609.pdf)If Faulkner gets the contract to manage these records, which is a distinct possibility, then EVERY healthcare provider would be forced to use Epic Systems because Epic Systems does not let other software programs communicate with its software. The only way to send or receive information to an Epic Systems platform is to use Epic Systems!

Judy Faulkner should be removed from ANY government panel that has to do with Health IT and NO federal contracts should go to a company that refuses to meet interoperability standards.

Crony Socialism Is An Epic Fail For Most Americans

Voters Trust GOP Presidential Candidates On Jobs More Than Obama- After a recent poll claimed that voters trust Obama more than the House Republicans to create jobs, a poll that conveniently left out the Democrats in Congress, comes a new poll that shows a very different picture: GOP candidates Rick Perry and Mitt Romney are more trusted on jobs than Obama. Is crony socialism an epic fail in the eyes of most Americans?

The Quinnipiac poll was conducted from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3 and has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.

In this poll, voters were asked if they approved of the Democrats in Congress and the Republicans, and both scored low numbers at 24 and 23 recent respectively.

Asked about whether they approved of Obama’s handling of the economy and the number who approved is only 32 percent, an all time low. Interestingly, this number itself is buoyed by the Democrats who give him a 66 percent approval. His approval among independents is only 26 percent and among Republicans it is only 4 percent.

When voters were asked to choose between Obama and either Rick Perry or Mitt Romney, Obama loses. Obama loses 45-42 percent to Perry and 49-39 percent against Romney.

A total of 77 percent of voters think the economy will get worse or stay the same if Obama is re-elected and the same number of voters, 77 percent, think the economy is in recession.

Crony socialism, or “stimulus” is not working. In fact, it could even be deadly. As we are reporting, under Obamacare cronies are getting key positions in the implementation process of Obama’s socialiszed medicine plan which, in the case of Judy Faulkner and Epic Systems, could lead to patients’ records NOT being able to accessed by a surgeon who does not use Epic Systems if the doctor does. This story is of vital concern because it involves millions of Americans and BILLIONS of dollars, but so far is being ignored by the media. It is a story that is all too common under the policies of crony socialism.

Meanwhile, House Speaker, John Boehner, posted a graphic showing that “all roads lead to nowhere” for Obama’s stimulus package disguised as a  jobs bill, which the Senate Democrats panned and have since rewritten to try to shore up the number of needed votes. Their new plan is to raise taxes FIRST, then spend MORE money on more of the same programs, many of which are rife with crony socialism, to try to stimulate the economy.

A quintessential survivor Mr. Cavuto is a survivor of stage 4 cancer not to mention fighting Muscular Sclerosis for the last decade. So when it come to being embattled, Cavuto is no stranger to the concept.

The pressure he faces in his personal medical battles are naturally more pressing than the full-on, left-wing attack that he and his cable networks face on a daily basis, of course, but when ever one thinks of Fox News, one is inexorably drawn to those attacks by Fox’ enemies. I asked Neil if, after all these years, the vehemence of these attacks on Fox News surprised him any?

“Well it does, Warner,” Cavuto said, “because in the beginning, there was a time when we could have filled in hours with expletives and no one would have paid attention. I remember in the first four years no one was watching. It was like I was in the witness protection program and it took a while… I guess I’m surprised sometimes, Warner, with the vehemence with these remarks but I take it in stride. I try to focus on what I do. You know I bored people with this story many times but I repeat it for a reason. I’m not conservative or liberal, I’m not red or blue, I’m just green, I’m the nerd that follows the money; where it’s going where it’s not.”

While conservative ideals absolutely serve as Cavuto’s core, he told me that he was not bought and paid for by the far right. It really is all about the math.

“I was an intern for Jimmy Carter, I was critical of the bailouts when they began with George Bush, critical since… I guess I’m a cheapskate,” He admitted. “I don’t like money going out the door and not being held accountable. So, that’s my gig and people can take from it what ever they wish. But I have no agenda there, my only agenda is the money and where it’s going or more to the point not going.”

Will G-d Bless Israel If Israel Rejects G-d? By William R Collier Jr- The Arab occupation of parts of Jerusalem, of Judea, and of Samaria has been going on for nearly at 1400 years and, at some point, it must come to an end. If human beings can’t manage it through a dialogue between Israel and the sons of Ishmael, whom G-d gave the Arabian peninsula, southern Iraq, Jordan, and most of Syria, then, ultimately, G-d will deal with this matter Himself.

To the Jews, the sons and daughters by blood of Jacob, G-d gave the land of Israel, with Judea and Samaria as the heartland. Indeed, to be clear, lest anyone doubt, G-d actually divided the land between the tribes of Israel, and ONLY Israel, and not once did He say the sons and daughters of Ishmael had any right or memorial in the land of Israel.

Mohammed has NO STANDING in Israel or Jerusalem and Ishmael has no right to occupy lands G-d has designated for the blood-heirs of the tribes of Israel, the sons and daughters of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Israel needs to deal with all the Arab powers as a bloc, NOT any group of Arabs, especially that band of Arabs who continue their occupation of Judea and Samaria and the lands of Manasseh on the East Bank of the Jordan river. The Arabs MUST give up all pretensions to any claim of sovereignty over the land of Israel. To do less is to incur the wrath of G-d.

Of course, there are some now, as in the days of the Maccabees, who want to make a loser’s peace with Israel’s enemies.

When the State of Israel decides to accept the notion of an Arab State over Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem, it is taking the council of these people who negotiated with Antiochus IV, the ruler of the Seleccid Empire. This man thanked them for their willingness to trade sovereignty for peace by trying to abolish the Jewish faith! Do not for a minute think that the Arabs, if they get their new state, won’t behave in the same manner!

Does this mean that Arabs in Judea and Samaria have to leave their homes if Israel (finally!) asserts its rightful sovereignty over the land?

There is no reason for those Arab residents to leave other than a determination on their part to end Israel’s sovereignty and their effort to claim Arab sovereignty of Jewish lands. As with any Nation, Israel has a right to punish or remove anyone who threatens its existence as a sovereign nation over lands it owns by birthright.

Of course, those people who don’t believe in ancient, G-d-ordained birthrights will reject these arguments as the basis of any claims, but this is irrelevant- it is the Jewish People who can and must press those claims, not before mere men, but before Hashem! Let G-d be the judge and let G-d be the one who does the work.

The Arabs have NO INTENTION of accepting a Jewish State in the holy Land of Israel, they are no better than Antiochus IV of old.

G-d cannot and will not bless the State of Israel with victory over her enemies unless and until the State of Israel stands on HIS promises, and His requirements of righteousness which every nation must adhere to. Israel must adhere to the Law of G-d in righteousness and truth, protecting those who do good, punishing evildoers, and taking proper care for G-d’s creation.

The State of Israel currently accepts sins which G-d hates, and now Israel seems willing to hand over the sovereignty of the land G-d gave to the children of Israel to another Arab state which rejects the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The State of Israel will not escape the judgment of G-d for this blatant rejection of His standards, requirements, and promises, but if the PEOPLE of Israel will walk as a People in G-d’s righteous standards He will bless them and protect them.

What do Solyndra, Lightsquared, and Epic Systems all have in common? First, an Obama Bundler stands to profit if the company profits. Second, the company needs favors from the government to make money. Third, the company’s gain is America’s loss. While the nation has heard of Solyndra and Lightsquared, it seems that nobody on capital hill has noticed that Epic Systems, led by leftwing activist Judy Faulkner, is quietly getting what could amount to BILLIONS in tax dollars to ultimately CONTROL your medical records and force your doctor to use her inefficient and and closed software platform if they want federal dollars to pay for complying with the ObamaCare mandate to use digital medical records.

Obama has quietly given Judy Faulkner a huge boost as the unofficial medical records czar of the worse type- she is seeking total control over ALL medical records and she stands to get billions of tax dollars to do it!

We have sent over background information about this to Congressman Issa’s office and are awaiting a response. Perhaps you, the reader, can call him and ask him if he would kindly make an inquiry about Epic systems?

Epic systems, owned by Judy Faulkner, is getting all kinds of advantages and, thereby, big fat contracts, to set up a system that is actually the opposite of the medical records system called for by the law.

In other words, while the ObamaCare law calls for digital medical records systems that allow for what is called “interoperability” (the ability to connect with other software systems that provide digital medical records)  Epic Systems’ software is NOT interoperative.

What’s worse is that Judy Faulkner was appointed by Obama to a special ObamaCare central planning committee that is specifically tasked with assigning contracts to companies that provide software for digital medical records.

So Obama chose the head of one of the ONLY companies that does NOT meet interoperability standards to oversee giving out contracts and, conveniently, she is getting contracts that, in reality, her company is not qualified for because it fails to meet interoperability standards.

Contact Congressman Issa and ask him to inquire as to whether or not Judy Faulkner is getting favors because of her partisan support for Obama despite the fact that her company does not comply with Federal requirements for getting the contracts she is getting.

Then he ran into a buzz-saw with Lightsquared.

It all amounts to an EPIC Fail and “three strikes, you’re out!”

Meet Judy Faulkner. She’s not your average Obama-anointed czar.

Usually they just get a cushy job and the ability to network, which is pretty good while it lasts.

Judy is better than ALL THE REST of Obama’s czars because she doesn’t get the cushy job and a few perks- she is trying to quite literally have an iron-clad monopoly over not only your medical records but potentially over the whole Health IT industry!

WARNING: If it’s medical and has pixels, no matter where it is, Judy the medical records czar is going to OWN it- that is, if she gets her way.

Obama gave her a juicy spot in one of those special ObamaCare central planning committees and what do you know, that committee was tasked with giving government contracts to providers to manage the new requirement that your
medical records be digitized.

The thing is, and perhaps Judy thought nobody would mind, she happens to own the company that is getting a lot of the deals!

BUT IT GETS BETTER!

Well, for Judy anyway.

You see her company, we prefer to call it EPIC Fail, because it doesn’t play nice with others  and she doesn’t exactly let her investors know what a true far-left radical she is.

Her company is almost the polar opposite of the political rhetoric she espouses- it is a top-down, profit-driven, and totally closed system that tells doctors and hospitals who are going to be forced to use her services to digitize medical records that they MUST use her software to do so!

That’s right folks, this Obama bundler thinks she’s Microsoft in the bad old days before Microsoft was forced, at the insistence of people on the left an right, to allow for “interoperability.”

Judy the medical records czar is telling companies that the only way to comply with ObamaCare, if SHE has the contract, is to use her expensive software because she refuses to let her precious software “talk” to other software platforms, as is the norm
in that industry.

I wonder if she will write a big fat check out of those monopoly-driven profits to help the government like Warren Buffet wants “the rich” to do?

This is incredible and we are certain that over the next few weeks we will have yet a third crony socialism scandal that will rock the White House, unless of course Judy and her EPIC Fail scheme are quietly sidelined before too many
people notice!

What you might hear referred to as the news media, the entertainment industry, and academia is better referred to for what it truly is: the Progressive Trojan Horse that is used to sneak in the progressive agenda for a God-free, state-controlled world led by an elite few who “know better” than us.

Make no mistake; Progressivism is the 21st century’s greatest threat to freedom on the planet. In whatever guise you find it, Progressivism TAKES life, property, and freedom from everyone save those elite few at the top who are smart enough to make the right choices for everyone else.

Don’t get me wrong, Progressivism leaves some space open, and I mean WIDE open, for personal “choice.” It is odd, but while Progressivism takes economic freedom, religious freedom, and political freedom (often in the name of righting some imagined “injustice” or making things “equal”) there is ONE area where Progressivism wants us all to pretty much be able to do whatever suits our fancy at the moment.  

What area of life, of all those areas of life most precious to us, do the Progressives say we should have MORE “liberty”? That area is the bedroom! Anything related to satisfying whatever carnal desires we might have, and that might shield us from the consequences of carrying out those carnal desires, they want to give us complete “liberty” in. 

The mature, thinking person knows that carnal satisfaction, while high on the pleasure scale, is relatively low on the priority scale. People who sacrifice real freedoms, including economic, religious, and political, for “liberty” in this one small area of our cultural life are of the basest sort who have no concept of what truly matters in life. A man who would place the sanctity of his marriage below that of his carnal satisfaction is not the sort of man who should be trusted with important public affairs- if he is willing to sacrifice his own wife for a temporary pleasure, how much more would he sacrifice the public good for his own selfish gain? 

Our present top-down culture is being spoon fed the lies and so-called “values” of the Progressive worldview, a worldview that, if accepted by the People, makes the People easy pickings for “strong men” on top to run things without any real transparency or accountability. 

When people accept the type of ‘freedom” being sold by the progressive Trojan Horse in all of its elements (news media, entertainment, academia) they do not question the affairs of the state, they do not even concern themselves with the over-reach of the state into most of the important aspects of their private lives, so long as they are given the “liberty” to indulge their base lusts. This is nothing less than trying to reduce an entire People to an animalistic stage of human development, devoid of morals, cultures, family, and community. 

Understand this, and understand it well, the Progressives are at war against true freedom, their sham “freedom” is the “freedom” animals, which have no morality and no conscience, enjoy, but which is the very reason why they cannot overcome man or rise above their station of life. Progressivism is as old as the devil himself, told in a yarn spun straight from the depths of the forbidden tree of the “knowledge of good and evil”, with that sly, cynic, and, nowadays, “cool”, question, “did God REALLY say?” 

The true agenda of the Progressive Trojan Horse is to take away your freedom by, first, seducing you with the “liberty” of license to indulge your base, animalistic desires and thereby render you a fitting subject for their nanny-state tyranny. 

Any intellectually honest student of history can read in the stories of past people, nations, and states, indeed whole civilizations, how true freedom is never compatible with debauchery and license, and how those who are the loudest proponents of such things are often the chief advocates of a strong state that is answerable to nobody!  

To be sure, there have been those who have not only denied the “freedom” of moral license but other true freedoms as well, especially theocratic tyrants, but the point here is that license to commit debauchery has never been compatible with true economic, social, sacred, and civic freedom. This is precisely why those who are enriched by your loss of such freedom wish to imprison you with the promise of license to debauchery without consequences, when they know full well that the consequences are your loss of every other real freedom in your life! 

Let us not be fooled by the Progressive Trojan Horse in its bid to entice us with the loser’s deal whereby we trade license for our freedom!

Australian Batists are none too happy with the present efforts by Progressives in Australia to dumb down marriage to include the licentious sins of homosexuality and lesbianism under the covering of “marriage.’

With doubt circling his campaign in recent weeks, the final nail in former governor Tim Pawlenty’s presidential campaign was hammered in with the release of the Iowa straw poll.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty dropped out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination on Sunday, hours after finishing a disappointing third in the Iowa straw poll.

“I wish it would have been different. But obviously the pathway forward for me doesn’t really exist so we are going to end the campaign,” Pawlenty said on ABC’s “This Week” from Iowa shortly after disclosing his plans in a private conference call with supporters.

Pawlenty senior adviser Phil Musser told The Huffington Post that the Minnesota Republican “just wasn’t willing to risk debt to soldier on — part of why he would have been a good president.”

Ames Straw Poll Puts Bachmann Slightly Ahead of Ron Paul

The latest numbers are in for the Ames Straw Poll. While Bachmann took the lead, Ron Paul is nipping at her coattails.

AMES — Not surprisingly, charismatic Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn) took top prize the 2011 Ames Straw Poll with4,823 votes.

Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) placed second with 4,671 votes.

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty took third with 2,293 votes.

Bachmann emphasized her Iowa roots during her remarks Saturday, and spoke little of her life and political record in the state of Minnesota. She preceded her Straw Poll presence Friday afternoon at the Iowa State Fair, where she took the opportunity to make one last Straw Poll appeal.

It worked.

Paul, a long-time Congressman and doctor also appeared to win over many attendees Saturday, as he received multiple standing ovations as he emphatically stated his anti-abortion, anti-war, limited-government platform. The Texan has campaigned heavily in Iowa prior to the Straw Poll, and won the poll’s auction, spending $31,000 on prime real estate that had been taken by 2007 Straw Poll winner Mitt Romney four years ago.

Pawlenty, often characterized as being too nice by political pundits, shed his “Minnesota nice” persona during Thursday’s presidental debate to lash out at Bachmann, saying her Congressional record is “non-existent.”

A total of 16,892 people cast votes in the 2011 Ames Straw Poll.

European shares, however, failed to keep early gains and dropped into negative territory.

Gold and the Swiss franc, two of the main beneficiaries of recent global risk aversion, fell.

Investors were also weighing calls by Italian Economy Minister Giulio Tremonti for a more coordinated response to the euro zone debt crisis, including the creation of euro bonds, against an immediate rejection of the idea from Germany.

Looking over today’s headlines, we see that those who rely on “the media” probably do not even KNOW about these important stories.

Unemployment Edges Down, But Not Enough
With a reported 117,000 new jobs created, unemployment edged down to 9.1% despite the “spending to prosperity” policies of the present Progressive administration. Cries for more taxes on the wealthy and more government spending to create job are increasingly falling on deaf ears as alarmed Americans consider the ramifications of such policies.

The perfect storm of a threat of new taxes, massive new regulations in multiple fields, and the present energy policy, which is seriously inhibiting the production of cheap energy, have become a millstone around the economy’s neck. The current progressive administration has essentially blamed former president George Bush, the Japan earthquake, and even the Arab Spring for the current crisis, while investors and economists cite the excessive government debt and spending as the primary cause of a loss of confidence in the economic future.

Since 2008, the average income for workers fell by $3,000 and while Progressives want to “tax the rich” there are only around 300,000 actual “millionaires” in America. There simply is not enough money being produced to BOTH support private individuals AND the current scope of government activities, regulations, and programs.

Kosovo Summer Heat Over Ban On Imports From Serbia
The native, but now minority, Serb population in Kosovo are protesting the Albanian-led government in Pristina’s decision to ban all imports from Serbia. Major General Erhard Buehler, NATO’s Kosovo commander, was actually blocked by Serbian protestors as he and a convoy of NATO personnel were transiting to a northern border control point.

Buehler is trying to get the Serbian leaders inside Kosovo and the Albanian leaders there to sit down to talk about their issues, however most Serbs believe that NATO’s mission is to prop up the Albanian-led government, not to broker any genuine and mutually agreeable peace.

Wisconsin Fair Site Race Riot
Black rage appears to be either on the rise or being manufactured as more and more incidents of large groups of black youths attacking white people, just because they are white, are occurring around the nation.

The latest incident occurred at the Wisconsin State Fair in Milwaukee. Local CBS affiliate, WISN, reported the incident but utterly failed to report the salient facts about the identity and motivation of the attacker, a move that has outraged local people who feel that this CBS affiliate failed to live up to its own basic standards of reporting the news objectively and fairly.

The attacks, by hundreds of black youth, were directed towards white and often accompanied by racial slurs. Local hospitals report serious injuries, but not deaths. Eyewitnesses describe scenes of barbaric terror as individuals were mercilessly beat until they were unconscious and then were tossed aside “like garbage.”

US Joint Forces Command CLOSES
While it is being lauded as a command that “worked itself out of a job”, the Joint Forces Command, based in Norfolk, Virginia, will be shutting down and no longer providing the vital service it did to the US military. Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, put a happy face on the decommissioning ceremony, but there is nothing to replace JFCOM in its work.

The tendency of different branches of the military to become parochial and work at cross purposes is a well-known tendency which JFCOM helped to prevent, at least for specific missions that require inter-service cooperation. For some, the dissolution of JFCOM is likened to the retiring the space shuttle without having a replacement.

NATO troops rush to the northern border in Kosovo, enforce a ban on imports from Serbia

After more than 10 years of NATO “peacekeeping”, tensions remain high between the breakway Serb republic of Kosovo, now dominated by an Albanian ethnic minority, and Serbia after the Albanian-led government of Kosovo banned all imports from Serbia.

On July 30th, 2011, Kosovo police, acting without NATO’s knowledge, moved in to seize two border posts on the northern boundary line of the former Serbian province and Serbia proper. One police officer was killed in what was essentially a botched raid, causing NATO forces to reinforce the border, and thereby back up the unilateral ban on trade by the Albanian-led Kosovo government.

While Kosovo is seen as the national and religious heartland of the Serbian nation, Albanian tribes moved into the region over the past 50 or so years, mostly fleeing an extremely repressive Stalinist regime, and became the ethnic majority. There has never been an independent Kosovo nor a strong Albanian presence in the region until the 20th century.

After the 1998 war in which Bill Clinton led a NATO charge against the Serbs in favor of the Albanians, a peace accord was signed whereby Serbia agreed to allow the province greater autonomy. The Albanians promptly began to work towards independence and, largely with the backing of 6,000 plus NATO troops, have managed to run the province as an independent state that no longer affords the same rights to the now minority native Serb population as it does Albanian population which now occupies the land.

For many Serbs the land of Kosovo is the cradle of their nation and of the Serbian faith and, regardless of the ethnic composition of the land, the Serbian people generally regard the land as part of their national patrimony. The Serbian response to the rise of the Albanian minority into majority status, however, was to wage a war on the population itself, which was engaged by both sides, in an effort by both groups to ethnically cleanse the region of the other group. It was this “ethnic cleansing” that prompted NATO and President Clinton to intervene, although the fact that Albanian groups committed the same kinds of atrocities as Serbian groups was not disclosed at the time.

The unilateral decision by the Albanian-led government of Kosovo to cease all imports from Serbia is being resisted by Serbian protesters who have made their way to the northern checkpoints and have erected makeshift barriers to block furether NATO troops from reinforcing those who seem to be enforcing the ban on Serbian imports.

The objectivity and neutrality of NATO peacekeepers has always been suspect, at least by the native Serbian population of Kosovo, but this latest move has all but cemented the negative view held by the Serbian minority.

Meanwhile, NATO are moving in a battalion of German and Austrian troops to back up the 6,000 NATO peacekeepers in Kosovo, although NATO says the move is not permanent.

Traders struggle over a skiddish market that is bouncing up an down after a rash of bad economic data and a record accumulation of US debt, over $220 billion in one day, after the debt ceiling was raised.

After multiple rounds of so-called stimulus, the economy remains stalled and is actually shrinking on a per-capita basis even as the debt burden is increasing and may increase by multiple trillions of dollars more.

For the past 17 weeks, new jobless claims have been right at 400,000 or more while the national debt as a percentage of GDP has reached over 100% for the first time since 1947, after the close of World War Two. This is the greatest peacetime expansion of government spending and borrowing in US history and while much of it was ostensibly done on the basis of the need to stimulate the economy, this Progressive method of spending and borrowing our way into prosperity is clearly not working.

A sign of the times that is worrying some came today when the Bank of New York announced a .13% fee for large clients who had moved “extraordinary high deposit levels” of cash into their accounts as money flees the investment sector. The new policy was a reaction to an undisclosed, but alarming, movement of cash out of stocks and bonds and into bank accounts amongst a large number of the bank’s clients.

A perfect storm of uncertainties, ranging from new and costly EPA regulations and Obamacare, to doubt about tax rates and the future solvency of the Federal Government, which appears to lack the courage to cut spending without raising taxes to prohibitively high levels, is conspiring against the markets.

The debt deal itself, which some still laud as a GOP victory, while rank and file disagree, seems to have been judged by the voters already. According to Fox News, most Democrats like the debt deal while most Republicans disapprove. “The poll showed 58 percent of Democrats approve of the deal, compared with just 26 percent of Republicans. A whopping 64 percent of Republicans disapproved.”

And the bond market’s message has been loud and clear. Bond traders think this deal stinks for the economy and what they see is an anemic economy.  It’s that simple.”

Dow Keeps Falling Amidst Deficit Spending And European Debt Concerns

Stocks sold off sharply across the board in another volatile session Thursday as fears over a global economic slowdown intensified and ahead of the widely-followed monthly unemployment report.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted sharply, led by Caterpillar [CAT  91.5325    -4.7475  (-4.93%)   ] and Alcoa [AA  13.485    -0.775  (-5.43%)   ], after rebounding from a deep selloff in the previous sessionto snap an eight-day losing streak. The blue-chip index is down for the 9th day in 10.

The S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq also tumbled. The S&P hit its correction territory of 1,227 as it plunged 10 percent from its intrady high in May.

All three major indices are seeing their biggest one-day drop in nearly a year.

The CBOE Volatility Index, widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, surged almost 15 percent to trade above 26.

All 10 S&P sectors were trading lower, led by energy, materials and industrials.

US stock futures rise after Tuesday’s rush to sell

The past few days stocks have been falling due to the uncertainty surrounding the debt deal. Wednesday they finally rose above the red to close at a decent level.

Stocks settled Wednesday with just a slight gain, but it earned Wall Street a cheer along the lines of “nice save.”

Without an afternoon rally, the Dow Jones industrial average would have ended with its ninth straight losing session, an indignity it hasn’t felt since the Jimmy Carter presidency.

The Dow finished up 29.82 points, just 0.25 percent, to close at 11,896.44. It had been down as much as 166 points in the morning trade.

Investors are lurching from worry to worry. With the Washington debt negotiations fading from daily headlines, attention shifted to the problems of European banks and to economic data showing weakness in the United States.

Analysts said they expect continued volatility that’s most often apparent in quick 150-point movements either way in the Dow. An index at the Chicago Board Options Exchange that tracks Dow volatility has risen 37 percent since mid-July.

‘Extortion’ Bomb Hoax in Australia

If you were following any of the trending topics yesterday you would have seen a curious hashtag labeled #mosman. Mosman is a suburb in Sydney, Australia where a young girl apparently had a bomb strapped to her neck.

An intruder apparently entered the home of Madeleine Pulver, 18, and fastened to her neck what appeared to be a bomb.

Police took 10 hours to remove the device, evacuating nearby streets in the wealthy Sydney suburb of Mosman.

They said the intruder left behind a note attached to the device that confirmed the motive was extortion.

No prime suspect

New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Murdoch told journalists the device turned out to be “a very, very elaborate hoax”.

“But it was made and certainly gave the appearance of a legitimate improvised explosive device. We had to treat it seriously until we could prove otherwise and that’s exactly what we did and that’s why it took so long.”

Egypt’s ex-President Hosni Mubarak was wheeled into a Cairo court on a hospital bed today and charged with conspiracy to kill some of the protesters who drove him from office in February. The former ruler appeared in court in a caged enclosure alongside his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, and former Interior Minister Habib el-Adli. The defendants wore prison suits. For most Egyptians, it was the first sighting of the man who ruled them for three decades since he was forced to quit on Feb. 11 after a mass uprising. Mubarak was also charged with appropriating land illegally for himself and his family, and selling gas to Israel at below- market prices. “These accusations, I deny them all,” the recumbent 83-year-old said when handed a microphone, speaking for the first time after two hours in court. Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka said the government had set aside Sh300 million for Habbaswein irrigation scheme to help the locals farm and increase food production.

Mr Musyoka distributed food donated by Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation and the government to needy families.

He said irrigation schemes in arid and semi- arid lands could solve food shortages in the country.

Thousands of livestock have died in the area. The Vice-President assured the residents that the government would give them animals to restock.

The VP urged Kenyans to stop the blame game over the famine and instead explore ways of assisting the affected families.

After suddenly backing out of the race of president, it looks like Donald Trump may still be in the running. Sources are reporting that he still wants to run for president based on certain circumstances.

Real estate mogul Donald Trump said Friday he’d consider running for president — again — if the U.S. economy “continues to be bad: and “if the Republicans pick the wrong candidate.”

“I would give it very, very serious thought,” he told CNBC. “There are so many people wanting me to do it.”

The Trump Organization president did not say on which party line he’d run if he didn’t like the Republican candidate.

It’s one thing to start your on investment management firm, it’s another to help US citizens evade taxes. That is exactly what Martin Lack did.

 

WASHINGTON – Martin Lack, a former UBS AG banker who is currently an independent asset manager, has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced today.

 

According to the indictment, Lack, a citizen and resident of Switzerland, founded his own investment management firm, Lack & Partner Asset Management AG in Zurich in 2002.  According to the indictment, Lack assisted U.S. customers to open and maintain secret bank accounts at a Swiss cantonal bank headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, with the assistance of a private banker at the bank.  The indictment alleges that Lack traveled to the U.S. to conduct banking for U.S. customers with undeclared accounts and conducted currency transactions in the U.S. in violation of federal banking and currency reporting laws.

 

According to the indictment, Lack encouraged his customers not to participate in the IRS voluntary disclosure program and he offered to provide his customers with falsified bank documents to conceal the source of the funds in their undeclared bank accounts.  The indictment further alle

With news of the debt ceiling debacle as well as other world news, the phone hacking scandal has taken a back seat to other issues. What people don’t realize is the investigation is still ongoing and more is to come, according to Tom Watson.

 

A month ago, Tom Watson received word that the Guardian was about to expose the hacking of Milly Dowler’s phone by the News of the World. With 72 hours to go, he cleared his diary; a few days later, he was averaging three hours sleep a night, as he and his staff picked through leaked documents, newspaper archives, personal testimony from phone-hacking victims, and more. As the MP who had been obsessively trying to cut through the murk surrounding News International for two years, he well knew that the most dramatic chapter in the two-year phone-hacking saga had arrived – and the imperative now was to work harder than ever.

So how have the last few weeks been? “Sleep-deprived, totally crazy,” he says, sitting in his parliamentary office during what seems to be a rare moment of calm. “But also, there’s been a great sense of relief. I think I said something to David Cameron about a month before: that there were powerful forces trying to cover this story up. At some points over the last two years, I thought it might blow. But I’ve also thought that the lid could be welded back on. But when Nick Davies broke the Milly Dowler story, that was the point where I knew they’d never get the lid back on.”

And has he been surprised by what’s happened since?

“Yeah. I guess two years ago, I felt that all this would probably cost Rebekah Brooks her job. The Wisconsin Chapter of Organize4Palin (O4P) today announced the greater Milwaukee area premiere of “The Undefeated” on Friday, July 22nd at the AMC Theater in Wauwatosa. This limited engagement premiere will run through Thursday July 28. The recently released film about Governor Sarah Palin’s rise from obscurity to national prominence opened to a successful debut in ten selected markets nationwide last weekend. The movie was received by enthusiastic audiences and, in many cities, sold-out crowds.

The film has captured the interest of conservatives nationwide through a successful grass roots marketing campaign, and many venues during the debut weekend reportedly had to move showings of the film to larger theaters to accommodate the crowds hoping to learn more about the former Alaska governor, Tea Party favorite, and Republican rainmaker.

Governor Sarah Palin made headlines last spring at a Tea Party rally in Madison, Wisc., when she delivered a strong message to President Obama regarding the 2012 elections: “Mr. President, game on!,” she stated.

Locally, conservative activist and Racine county GOP board member, Lou D’Abbraccio stated: “I’m looking forward to seeing this film. I think it’s important to keep an open mind, that’s why I’m looking forward to hearing the other side of the story.”

Undefeated Meet-Ups!

Yesterday we awoke to a story in The Atlantic about a lone reporter showing up for a midnight showing of The Undefeated in Orange County, California. The whole contrived story left out lots of details, such as the fact that the only way to find out about this previously unscheduled showing was through a one-line mention in the LA Times or if you did a google search for the city, day, and movie. Of course, if that was all it took for people to come to a movie, ad agencies would be shuttered!

Today, however, we wake up to very different news and no cute reporter tricks are going to be able to spin this news- today, in Orange County especially, we find that when people KNOW about The Undefeated they come!

The premiere of The Undefeated was awesome, putting to rest the media’s lies about an “empty theater” for a midnight show nobody knew about. In fact in Orange County, California we had our best showing, selling out over 200 seats for the 7PM show!

But the pressure is on, and for those who saw the movie, the realization is setting in that we have to get as many people as possible to see this movie!

If you saw the movie, now is the time to tell your friends and neighbors about it and urge them to go see it, even if you have to go with them! Tell them they owe it to themselves to find out why the media hates Sarah Palin so much and why they’ll never defeat the core message and values her career represents!

Get your friends together from all the groups and websites you frequent to hold meet-ups at the theaters, organize around a show time and bring in as many people as you can!

If you live in or near the ten cities and you support Sarah Palin and the message she represents, now is the time to put feet to pavement and back up words with action!

We started out well, but don’t relax and don’t sit back on your laurels- the fight is far from over and we need all the help we can get!

We also need to think ahead to next week and the daytime shows- we need to rally retired people and self-employed people to come out during the week to these shows. If you have comp time or vacation time, don’t be afraid to use it and meet with some friends at the theater, or have an extended “lunch.”

Host leaders and team leaders, now is the time to step up and keep doing the phone calls, emails, and social networking to keep the buzz and momentum going and keep people coming into those theaters!

If we can do this, and so far it’s looking real good, we will be making history in lots of interesting ways! You will be able to say “I participating in making that happen!” How cool is that?

Today, we have great news overall, with shows sold out, rave reviews, lots of stories about skeptics turned supporters, and so much more. This is all good, but what we do over the next week will matter as much as what we did for opening day- we have to keep the pressure up!
