US Troops Reported In Jordan
We are seeing numerous unconfirmed reports that US forces are inside of Jordan at this hour, but their intentions and their planned length of stay is not known.
While some reports claim that US forces are deployed opposite of the Syrian border with Jordan to forestall Syrian forays into the Hashemite Kingdom, other possibilities are far less ominous.
When the US went to war against Iraq, American forces transited through Jordan from Aqaba and some deployed to help with Iraqi refugees.
This may be what is happening now US forces may be transiting in reverse, from Iraq via Jordan to the port of Aqaba. Additionally, US forces may be helping with Syrian refugees.
If, however, US forces have deployed to Jordan to defend against a possible Syrian incursion, this would violate the spirit and letter of the War Powers act, placing US forces in potential combat zones without even a nod towards Congress. This would prove controversial in the extreme, especially in today’s political climate.
If US forces have deployed from Iraq to Jordan to stave off a potential Syrian move it would most likely be the result of some form of substantiated intelligence. The Syrian regime is still smarting over an incursion of Syrian protestors into Jordan who attacked their embassy in Amman and may also be targeting refugees with operatives who infiltrate the Syrian refugee camps in Jordan. The threat, therefore, may be more covert than overt and merely having US forces “pause” en route to Aqaba could be enough.
Other possibilities, however, include a potential positioning of forces for a new Libya-like intervention should the opposition in Syria materialize into a cohesive force that can take and hold territory. The “no-fly zone” approach has been used with telling effect against Serbia, Saddam Hussein, and Qhadafi. US ground forces would prevent an incursion into Jordan and could even protect Iraq, whose government is alarmed at the possibility of being flooded with Syrian refugees.
The transiting of US troops out of Iraq through Jordan makes perfect sense however it is possible that this could be a good cover for other purposes as well.
Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, may have already been “deposed” in a silent coup by Islamist insiders with the backing of the ISI, Pakistan’s intelligence service which is notoriously pro-Islamist in its agenda. While Zardari is off to Dubai for what could be anything from a routine check-up to a life-threatening heart condition, it is becoming obvious in many circles that the real power in Islamabad is in the hands of a coterie of ultra-Islamist insiders.
The “silent coup” is being orchestrated behind the scenes in a series of seemingly innocuous moves, right under the nose of US intelligence assets which are hamstrung by directives from the White House which are focusing more on placating Pakistani sensibilities than spying on their inner workings and shifting motives.
Fears of an Islamist coup to take over Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, which are resulting in what some see as an over-the-top policy of appeasement in the face of countless Pakistani provocations, may have already been realized in what may now be a bigger intelligence failure than the failure to detect the coming of the 911 attacks by Islamist forces. The whole effort to prevent a coup by a policy of overlooking countless Pakistani offenses may already have met with failure and, even now, Islamist forces may have access to nuclear weapons.
Regardless of the status of the Pakistani President, or the real reasons for his ailment and his departure to Dubai, the Islamist forces that run the ISI now appear to be on the ascent in all branches of the Pakistani government, from the Presidential palace to the military.

Or, if neither of those classic festivity-enders does the trick, “Hit the Road, Jack”? In any case, the message needs to be sent: The party is over, and it is time for Greece to be shown the door, if the Greeks cannot find it themselves, and exit the eurozone.
A Greek default appears to be imminent. The question is whether it is to be an orderly default or a chaotic one. At the moment, the odds are about even between those two possibilities.
Prime Minister George Papandreou has called a parliamentary vote of confidence and a national referendum on the European bailout conditions to be imposed on Greece. Those conditions include bondholders’ taking a 50 percent haircut on Greek liabilities while the Greek government promises to enforce austerity measures to reduce spending and return the country’s debt-to-GDP ratio to a more manageable level (though getting Greek debt down to the level legally required by the Treaty of Maastricht is not in the works, a fact that should put the European project in perspective). Athens has made such promises before. Greek unemployment remains high, its economy a shambles. The recent recession has made things worse than they otherwise would have been.
The European Union being the European Union, it had been assumed that these conditions simply would be imposed by Brussels, without the Greek people’s having a say. The vote threatens to throw a monkey wrench into European designs, and markets tanked on the news. And what would happen if the Greek electorate rejected Brussels’s agenda? It is far from impossible that Brussels and Athens would simply collaborate to impose the terms in the teeth of democratic rejection. The Greeks should keep in mind the experience of those national electorates that rejected membership in the European Union only to have the same referendum voted on again and again until Brussels got its way.
Unhappily, the Europeans aren’t much in funds these days, which has them appealing to China for assistance in their bailout scheme. Which is to say, not only would the deal make Athens entirely subordinate to Brussels, it would make Athens entirely subordinate to a Brussels that is partly subordinate to Beijing. That may be too high a price even for the pension-loving, debt-ridden, bailout-begging Greeks to pay.
And we would not blame them. Membership in the European Union as currently constituted is plainly incompatible with national sovereignty. In fact, the European project has quickly proved to be not only incompatible with national sovereignty but positively hostile toward it, its consolidation of transnational power and its running rough-shod over ancient nation-states exhibiting a degree of vigor and energy shocking even to the most suspicious Euro-skeptics. This incompatibility has come to a head now over fiscal questions, but it might have come to a head as easily over questions of national defense or immigration — questions in which the interests of a France or a Finland are very different from those of a Bulgaria or a Cyprus, but which in any case will be decided in accord with no country’s national interest but in accord with the interests of the bureaucratic elite in Brussels.
There is very little reason for Greece, Spain, and Portugal to share a single monetary policy with Germany and France — their public finances, labor conditions, balance of trade, and other economic fundamentals are radically different, and cannot be brought into harmony without something approaching a soft dictatorship. The business cycles of the members of the European Union are not coordinated, and neither are their economic interests. Less competitive nations such as Greece suffer particularly from sharing a currency with highly productive nations such as Germany, because it takes away the option of using currency depreciation to make one’s exports more attractive on world markets. (Germany, a strong exporter, has benefited from this arrangement.) There is some wisdom in human traditions, and it turns out that the Germans and the Greek have separate countries for a reason — one of them being that they are separate peoples.
The theory of Europe’s Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) is that a borderless environment with a single currency would minimize economic friction and produce vast economies of scale, making Europe’s economy more competitive. Europe had an example in the United States, roughly comparable in size and population but with a much more dynamic economy, especially when it comes to the work force. There are gains to be had, unquestionably, but there are always tradeoffs, and in this case they produce a net loss for much of Europe. This was a gross miscalculation on the part of the European centralizers, who neglected to account for the fact that important, fundamental cultural differences — including language, family habits, and religion — mean that a Bulgarian factory worker or a Latvian financial manager cannot simply relocate to London or Paris the way an American worker can move from anywhere in the country to Houston or New York with relative ease. The formal, legal barriers to European integration are not the only barriers, nor even the most important. As it turns out, there are not many Europeans in Europe, which is mostly populated by French, Germans, Swiss, Italians, Greeks, Poles, etc. Wishful thinking will not make it otherwise.
Such realities can only be ignored for so long. The appetite of the Greek people for further austerity measures is limited, as is the appetite of the German people for expending their own hard-earned capital to prop up their careless, spendthrift neighbors. Nobody in Europe has much appetite for continued economic chaos. The best outcome and less likely outcome would be to have the economically stable northern European countries break away to form their own union. The second-best and more likely outcome is for Greece to leave the eurozone, voluntarily or involuntarily. Either scenario would probably entail a default and would bring about massive economic disruption, and not just for the Europeans. But the alternative is a prolonged, slow-motion crisis and the entrenching of the one-size-fits-all, central-planning approach from Brussels that is a very large part of the present problem and no part of its solution.

April Fool! Good Enough for Somali Pirates, Good Enough For Congress — A Modest Proposal

Warning: This is an April Fool’s Day Column. It lays out a way to cut federal spending, by trillions, and how to get it done in months, not years. Washington Insiders who hear about this turn white with fear. You have been warned.
The solution: powerfully change the incentives for members of Congress. Treat our elected representatives as if they were human. Give them a huge bonus for getting the job done. It requires us, as JFK’s chair of the council of economic advisors, Walter Heller, once famously advised, to “Rise above principle and do what’s right.”
I’m sorry to reveal, but since you won’t really believe it, not too sorry: elected officials are just like you and me. And yet, we citizens yearn for heroes – superheroes, really. Our officials wish to satisfy that yearning. They erect awe-inspiring edifices like the Capitol Building. They grandiosely spend billions as if they were nickels found under the sofa cushions. They act in the epic fashion that we demand of them.
Some say that politicians are vain, shallow, creatures. This isn’t fair. Members of Congress tend to be smart, gregarious, somewhat idealistic, people who work ridiculous hours doing tedious, thankless, jobs. Few of them are so blackhearted as to destroy our illusions of them. It would be as if The New York Sun had said in its iconic 1897 editorial “No, Virginia, there is no Santa Claus.”
But, also, being a Member of Congress is not all trivial floor votes and rubber chicken dinners. It is the best gig most of these good folks ever had or can expect. Although their salaries are modest their perqs are endless. Plus they get to be hometown heroes with, if lucky, a bit of national celebrity. Good gig.
In the final scene of “The Wizard of Oz” (a political allegory) the Wizard is revealed to be … a good man, just a bad wizard. That sums it up nicely. Officials are people.
Representatives are avid to hang on to their jobs. If they lose re-election they have to go out into the world and be a lobbyist, trade association official, even, the Horror!, lawyer. One cannot blame them for recoiling from that fate. So they ensure their reelection by saying yes, to everybody, especially powerful people, as often as possible. “Yes” often means spending lots of money. Our money.
We, the people, reward them for this. It’s sweet… in an odd way. Gallup shows we assign Congress an 11% confidence rating – while routinely re-electing our own Representative at something like a 98% rate. Mencken loved it.
I enjoy democracy immensely. It is incomparably idiotic, and hence incomparably amusing. Does it exalt dunderheads, cowards, trimmers, frauds, cads? … Is it inordinately wasteful, extravagant, dishonest? Then so is every other form of government: all alike are enemies to laborious and virtuous men. Is rascality at the very heart of it? Well, we have borne that rascality since 1776, and continue to survive. In the long run, it may turn out that rascality is necessary to human government, and even to civilization itself — that civilization, at bottom, is nothing but a colossal swindle….
OK, good fun. But, Houston, we have a problem. Federal spending has become so profligate that it threatens to destroy America. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Getting spending cut is simple. Shift the incentives. The simplest way to do this is to pay a truly handsome prize, one that well outweighs the officials’ craving for re-election. Think of Congress as akin to the Somali Pirates. Wired magazine did ananalysis of the business model of the Somali Pirates:
The rough fishermen of the so-called Somali coast guard are unrepentant criminals, yes, but they’re more than that.
They’re innovators. Where earlier sea bandits were satisfied to make off with a dinghy full of booty, pirates who prowl northeast Africa’s Gulf of Aden captured ships for ransom. This strategy has been fabulously successful….
Nobody considers paying ransom to pirates the “right” thing to do. Yet … if you are owner or insurer of a couple hundred million dollars worth of goods you pay the pirates who penetrate your defenses a few million rather watch $200M sink to Davy Jones’s Locker. Ransom: bitter, but practical.
If we the citizens actually wished to staunch the federal Niagra Falls of spending … we’d pay our Representatives a handsome bonus to get it right. We won’t. But it would work. We need to motivate just 359 people (a veto-proof majority) to cut the spending back to reasonable levels and lock it in.
There’s a market clearing price. There’s probably a law against it. But hey, they make and unmake laws up there.
Therefore this writer calls upon some wise American Oligarchs, um, Philanthropists (Hi Warren, hello Bill and Melinda) — who already have committed to offloading their fortunes — to put up, up to, a $63.5 billion bounty. That’s only about half of what they already have committed and 10% of what they are aiming to raise at givingpledge.org.
Each Member of Congress, and each Senator, would be given a $100 million prize for cutting federal spending to 18% of GDP. It’s a lot of money but less than many hedge fund managers, managing mere billions, not trillions, make.
To keep the problem from recurring — we don’t want the number of attacks skyrocketing —also they’d have to refer a really strong constitutional amendment to the States, keeping spending at 18% — except in times of declared war. And constitutionally define war as a Big One to keep Congress from declaring it just to elude fiscal restraint.
Some might be persuaded for less than $100M. But a job is something like a bond, and the net all-in value of holding a Congressional seat, between salary, perqs, staff and prestige arguably is worth close to $5 million a year. Capitalized at 5% that’s $100 million. Rather than quibbling over a tiny, one-time, fraction of our multi-trillion savings… let’s just get this done. At $100M even Dennis Kucinich might, bless his heart, take it. (You are free to donate most of it to People for the Ethical treatment of Vegetables, Sir.)
A Representative only gets her $100M if she, or he, votes for the cuts, and the Constitutional Amendment, does so within one session of Congress, and it is enacted. Hello Warren? Bill? Melinda? You’d look great on Rushmore.
Now almost all the incentives are to spend. Spending makes powerful friends. Cutting makes powerful enemies. They just want to keep their jobs! Shift the incentives decisively and the overspending will stop on a dime: welfare, warfare, all of it. Shhhh! They’re only human. People will object: it’s wrong to pay our officials what it takes to get them to do the right thing. To which this writer, probably alone, says: Huh? We’re going to let our civilization capsize instead?
Trust me on this. Or, better yet … don’t. April Fool! Treat it as satire: it’s less painful.

Judy Faulkner could gain a near monopoly over the entire “Health IT” sector through the leveraging of her insider political status with ruthless practices designed to give her company an unfair and unethical advantage in the marketplace. Faulkner, who owns Epic Systems, is getting paid by US Taxpayers to control digital access to hundreds of thousands of US citizens’ medical records and could soon control millions upon millions of medical records and get BILLIONS in taxpayer dollars.
This is theft by regulatory fiat and by insider politics, crony socialism at its worse.

Judy Faulkner is a hyper partisan and big donor to ultra Progressive causes. In the past she has even called for virtual boycotts of businesses that supported other political causes or candidates and has even pulled contracts with providers for purely political reasons.

Faulkner sees no problem, for instance, in being named to a panel that is in charge of handing out contracts to companies that provide digital record-keeping services while getting many of the best contracts herself.
What is more, Faulkner is supposed to be on this panel to provide expertise on something called interoperability. In a nutshell, that means that the government wants to ensure that different providers who NEED to see your medical records can access them easily, even if they all use different software platforms. The problem is that Faulkner’s company, Epic systems, sells a software platform that does not communicate with other software platforms.
In other words, if your doctor uses Epic Systems and your surgeon doesn’t they can’t share your information digitally in an emergency!
So why did Faulkner get named to a panel that is supposed to promote such “interoperability” when her company is the only major player in its field that explicitly, and ruthlessly, refuses to let its platform “talk” to other platforms?
The answer is simple: Faulkner is a big Obama supporter and fundraiser and has inside connections with the Obama administration.
In what amounts to a bad case of doublespeak, Faulkner is being asked to oversee the implementation of a policy goal, interoperability, that her company singularly refuses to participate in. This would be like having a KKK member being named to a panel that is supposed to promote the end of race-based separatism and discrimination.
What we see in Epic Systems is a dangerous mix of partisan extremism, and no doubt if they control your medical records they will not hesitate to use that power in partisan ways we can’t even imagine, while getting billions in taxpayer dollars, giving hundreds of millions back to Progressive political causes to finance more of the same kind of crony socialism.

The Quinnipiac poll was conducted from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3 and has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
In this poll, voters were asked if they approved of the Democrats in Congress and the Republicans, and both scored low numbers at 24 and 23 recent respectively.
Asked about whether they approved of Obama’s handling of the economy and the number who approved is only 32 percent, an all time low. Interestingly, this number itself is buoyed by the Democrats who give him a 66 percent approval. His approval among independents is only 26 percent and among Republicans it is only 4 percent.
When voters were asked to choose between Obama and either Rick Perry or Mitt Romney, Obama loses. Obama loses 45-42 percent to Perry and 49-39 percent against Romney.
A total of 77 percent of voters think the economy will get worse or stay the same if Obama is re-elected and the same number of voters, 77 percent, think the economy is in recession.
Crony socialism, or “stimulus” is not working. In fact, it could even be deadly. As we are reporting, under Obamacare cronies are getting key positions in the implementation process of Obama’s socialiszed medicine plan which, in the case of Judy Faulkner and Epic Systems, could lead to patients’ records NOT being able to accessed by a surgeon who does not use Epic Systems if the doctor does. This story is of vital concern because it involves millions of Americans and BILLIONS of dollars, but so far is being ignored by the media. It is a story that is all too common under the policies of crony socialism.

Israel Struggles For Its Right To Exist
Will G-d Bless Israel If Israel Rejects G-d? By William R Collier Jr- The Arab occupation of parts of Jerusalem, of Judea, and of Samaria has been going on for nearly at 1400 years and, at some point, it must come to an end. If human beings can’t manage it through a dialogue between Israel and the sons of Ishmael, whom G-d gave the Arabian peninsula, southern Iraq, Jordan, and most of Syria, then, ultimately, G-d will deal with this matter Himself.
To the Jews, the sons and daughters by blood of Jacob, G-d gave the land of Israel, with Judea and Samaria as the heartland. Indeed, to be clear, lest anyone doubt, G-d actually divided the land between the tribes of Israel, and ONLY Israel, and not once did He say the sons and daughters of Ishmael had any right or memorial in the land of Israel.
Mohammed has NO STANDING in Israel or Jerusalem and Ishmael has no right to occupy lands G-d has designated for the blood-heirs of the tribes of Israel, the sons and daughters of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Israel needs to deal with all the Arab powers as a bloc, NOT any group of Arabs, especially that band of Arabs who continue their occupation of Judea and Samaria and the lands of Manasseh on the East Bank of the Jordan river. The Arabs MUST give up all pretensions to any claim of sovereignty over the land of Israel. To do less is to incur the wrath of G-d.
Of course, there are some now, as in the days of the Maccabees, who want to make a loser’s peace with Israel’s enemies.

12 In those days there went out of Israel wicked men, and they persuaded many, saying: Let us go, and make a covenant with the heathens that are round about us: for since we departed from them, many evils have befallen us.
13 And the word seemed good in their eyes.

When the State of Israel decides to accept the notion of an Arab State over Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem, it is taking the council of these people who negotiated with Antiochus IV, the ruler of the Seleccid Empire. This man thanked them for their willingness to trade sovereignty for peace by trying to abolish the Jewish faith! Do not for a minute think that the Arabs, if they get their new state, won’t behave in the same manner!
Does this mean that Arabs in Judea and Samaria have to leave their homes if Israel (finally!) asserts its rightful sovereignty over the land?
There is no reason for those Arab residents to leave other than a determination on their part to end Israel’s sovereignty and their effort to claim Arab sovereignty of Jewish lands. As with any Nation, Israel has a right to punish or remove anyone who threatens its existence as a sovereign nation over lands it owns by birthright.
Of course, those people who don’t believe in ancient, G-d-ordained birthrights will reject these arguments as the basis of any claims, but this is irrelevant- it is the Jewish People who can and must press those claims, not before mere men, but before Hashem! Let G-d be the judge and let G-d be the one who does the work.
The Arabs have NO INTENTION of accepting a Jewish State in the holy Land of Israel, they are no better than Antiochus IV of old.

G-d cannot and will not bless the State of Israel with victory over her enemies unless and until the State of Israel stands on HIS promises, and His requirements of righteousness which every nation must adhere to. Israel must adhere to the Law of G-d in righteousness and truth, protecting those who do good, punishing evildoers, and taking proper care for G-d’s creation.
The State of Israel currently accepts sins which G-d hates, and now Israel seems willing to hand over the sovereignty of the land G-d gave to the children of Israel to another Arab state which rejects the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The State of Israel will not escape the judgment of G-d for this blatant rejection of His standards, requirements, and promises, but if the PEOPLE of Israel will walk as a People in G-d’s righteous standards He will bless them and protect them.
