Update:  Apparently, there was advanced advertising for this movie on Thursday, July 14th, in the LA TIMES- an obscure listing- one line- and- perhaps someone looking for The Undefeated in Orange County may have allegedly found a listing for 12:45 am.  In the article- Conor says he was going to a 12:45 am showing, but the ad lists the time as 12:01 am.  Perhaps Conor may not be in collusion with a movie theater manager, but why, if he wanted to interview Palin Supporters, would he go a midnight showing that was barely advertised?  We stick by our story that this was a rigged MSM event perpetrated by Conor Friedersdorf for the sole purpose of discrediting the movie’s weekend release and even Sarah Palin herself.  Here is the story as we originally published it, along with a screenshot of the obscure listing for the movie:

Conor Friedersdorf stages empty theater showing of THE UNDEFEATED- Paul Collier

Following up on a story THE FREEDOMIST broke a couple of hours ago, we have learned that THE ATLANTIC’s Conor Friedersdorf may have done more than inadvertently stumble into an empty movie theater in Orange CA that had unilaterally decided to run a midnight showing of THE UNDEFEATED.

The facts seem to show that the only way Conor Friedersdorf could have found that showing of THE UNDEFEATED is if someone from inside the movie theater, someone who must have arranged for this ‘special’ midnight showing, had called and let him know where to be so that he could find an ‘empty theater’ and write his story, his hit piece in an attempt to stop the Palin Movie, The Undefeated, from being seen.

If this was Florida, Conor might be able to convince 12 people that he is a real journalist, but this is not Florida and we find it hard to believe his intentions were “journalistic.’

The Palin Movie, THE UNDEFEATED, was shown in The Block, Orange CA Movie Theater, at 12:45 am to an empty house.  There was no advertising for this showing.  The movie listing time was not listed on any AMC movie theater web site.  The Block was showing two Harry Potter movies at midnight and the movie theater manager allegedly just decided it would be a good idea to also show THE UNDEFEATED

THE FREEDOMIST is part of Kross Publishing, a web marketing company that happens to be working on THE UNDEFEATED.  As such, we have access to inside marketing information that shows NO PLANS for any midnight showings of THE UNDEFEATED, nor any reports made by ANY theater that such a showing would take place.  Furthermore, had a movie theater suggesteda midnight showing, they would be been urged to stick to the marketing roll-out plan.

We have seen ALL of the pre-release plans and schedules, every theater listed the times and days in advance for the showings so that the marketing team would be able to promote the movie. NO showing for Orange CA at this time was EVER scheduled or announced, ever, to anyone.

It seems clear, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this midnight showing had only one person and one person only as its targeted audience, Conor Friedersdorf. Some may doubt this and chalk it all up to conincidence, and we want to be charitable, but it gets harder to believe as you look at the actual facts.

When the clock struck 12:01 am today, AMC theaters in select cities were permitted to start showing “The Undefeated,” a feature length documentary about Sarah Palin. As it happens, I’m visiting my parents in Orange County, Calif., home to one of just 10 theaters where the film is being rolled out. Watching it didn’t interest me so much as going to interview folks who decided to attend. I figured I’d meet some nice people, perhaps run into someone who knows my grandparents, press five or six Palin fans on why they like her, and convey their worldview. It’s my experience that the grassroots doesn’t fit the caricature of its champions or its detractors.

This paragraph makes him seem neutral, even magnanimous, prepared to show up to an unadvertised movie that was shown at a time that the movie producers and the marketing team for THE UNDEFEATED would not have approved, to cover the wonderful Palin supporters.

The opening statement, that AMC theaters were permitted to show THE UNDEFEATED starting at midnight is not entirely accurate.   Theaters CAN do this, but it’s not generally done and certainly not without giving a heads-up to the marketing team who would need to include that information on their advertising.

Think about this- you manage a theater, you want to make money. Do you suddenly put up a political documentary, without any announcement or notice to the public, during a midnight showing of Harry Potter and expect that if people can’t see HarryPotter that they’ll pony up for the political documentary? Either that manager had a little “sumtin sumtim” going on with Conor or he is the world’s dumbest theater manager. Either way, perhaps he needs to find a new line of work.

Actually, the idea that ANYONE, other than perhaps the theater manager and this reporter, would have any reason to think there was a showing at this time is simply a lie perpetrated by the  MSM’s latest Palin Hate Propagandist, Conor Friedersdorf.

Anyone who knows anything about movie marketing will realize the fallacy immediately.  The strategy for rolling out a film, especially an independent film, is to run it in select theaters at SELECT TIMES to target those cities AND TIMES for advanced ticket sales.  Early full theaters are big when you roll out a movie.  So why would the marketers of THE UNDEFEATED ever allow an unadvertised, untargeted movie time to occur?  The answer is, of course, they wouldn’t.

What is more, much weight is put on the “per showing” numbers for new releases. This theater’s manager virtually ensured that, because this showing was not known to anyone, those numbers would be artificially depressed. The manager has a LOT of explaining to do and his excuse that he “just decided” to run a political documentary during a midnight showing of Harry Potter, which WAS advertised, either indicates he is a bad manager or that he and the reporter had a little payola thing going on.

That horse has been beat to death, and deservedlly so!

What we want to know for sure is this: is Conor Friedersdorf working in collusion with someone in THE BLOCK at Orange CA, perhaps a movie theater manager, and if not, HOW did he know about this movie?

What incentive would a movie theater manager have to run a movie at midnight that had no advertising and that no one, except for a reporter from The Atlantic (with a history of running Palin Hate pieces for The Atlantic, The Daily Beast, and other far left agents of hate)?

Perhaps they were friends, perhaps other compensations were involved or perhaps the manager is not really good at doing his job.  Did Conor Friedersdorf pay off a movie manager to run THE UNDEFEATED to an empty house just so he could get a story out before any theater opened today?

Conor attended the film at 12:45 am PST- that would be 3:45 am EST, the movie ended two hours later.  he says he stayed until the end, although a true Palin hater could not stomache seeing the truth of a courageous woman who was fighting against the elite classes this Conor Friedersdorf seem to champion every day.  (The movie wasn’t made for the likes of Conor anwyay). That would mean he got out of the film at 5:45  am EST.  He would have to drive home, a time that, with California Traffic, and navigating through all the Harry Potter people, could take no less than, say, 30 minutes.  This means he gets home around 6:30 am EST- 3:30 am PST.

Our dedicated propagandist hit man, Conor Friedersdorf, then proceeds to rush to the warm glow of his sniper rifle, his computer, and taps out his big sensational headline- Sarah Palin Movie Debuts to Empty Theater in Orange County- which is posted on THE ATLANTIC MONTHLY’s website at 7:52 am EST, less than 3 hours after he got home.

We are impressed that it took Conor only around an hour to write this progressive assassination puff piece, our dedicated journolist thug stayed up until 4:52 am to rush to get this story out before the first showings of THE UNDEFEATED, trying to create the narrative for the day, which runs something like this- “Palin movie flops, Can Sarah really run in 2012″?

THE FREEDOMIST has emailed Conor Friedersdorf and asked him how he came to know about a 12:45 am PST showing of THE UNDEFEATED at THE BLOCK, Orange, CA.  He hasn’t responded.

Who is Conor Friedersdorf, and why do we call him a Journolist hit man?  Here is why:

Orange California seems to have jumped the gun on The Undefeated movie, which debuts today in 10 cities in the US, with a special midnight showing for a a reporter from The Atlantic.

Conor Friedersdorf wrote breathlessly about an “empty theater” for a “debut.” The progressive journolist may have been told about such a showing but we know that nobody knew anything about it.

How did we know?

Our company, Kross Publishing, has been engaged in online marketing support and mobilizing a group of on the ground Hosts and virtual Ambassadors, and there has never been any mention of or advertising for any midnight showing.

The open question is: how did this reporter, Conor Friedersdorf, KNOW about this totally un-advertised showing that our company, which is working on marketing for the film, did not know about?

Movie theaters CAN show a movie like this, without notice, and if advanced ticket sales are high or decent, they might use an extra screen for a showing that is not scheduled. In this case the theater chose to do that, but on the same night of the big debut of Harry Potter: hardly an auspicious time for a movie that has a niche audience as opposed to a large general audience.

How then was everyone surprised about this showing save a lefty reporter?

It is possible, as one of our staff suggested, that the theater manager and the reporter are buddies, or someone inside the theater knew the reporter. It is also possible that Conor Friedersdorf, lefty that he is, knows that theaters can sometimes do a midnight showing and that he watched online until he saw this suddenly open up and decided, instead of covering the official debut, that he would call an unscheduled, un-advertised midnight showing the “debut” and use that to smear the movie.

Perhaps he thought he would win a Pulitzer for his little stunt, but anyone with any kind of horse sense knows that you don’t choose an unscheduled, un-advertised showing of a movie not scheduled to debut until later in the day (the official evening showing today, Friday July 15, 2011) to, as he claimed, “interview” attendees.

Conor did not want to interview attendees, otherwise he would have chosen a time that was advertised, not an unscheduled, un-advertised midnight showing.

This reporter’s cute little stunt goes right to the heart of what the movie is about- the blatant attempts by the journolist media elites to impugn, smear, and destroy anyone who does not go along with their Progressive ideology.

You may not want to vote for Sarah Palin, but this little episode reveals why Palin supporters and conservatives in general want to see this movie- for here is laid bare the media’s ongoing war against the freedom of conservatives, Christians, and non-Progressives through the very same types of stunts pulled by this Conor character.

The purpose of Conor’s report is clear- he was fishing for the headline he wanted to write, i.e. “Sarah Palin Movie Debuts to Empty Theater in Orange County.”

Perhaps the real headline should read, “The Atlantic Covers Unadvertised, Unscheduled Movie Showing As Debut.”

This just in- on the day before The Atlantic hit the stands there were no sales for that issue!
