Kross Publishing, which owns The Freedomist, announced today the launching of The Blossburg PA Freedomist, begining in January of 2012.

Blossburg is a small town (borough) located in southern Tioga County Pennsylvania which is in the Twin Teirs region that includes counties in the southern tier of New York State and the northern tier of Pennsylvania.

The local Freedomist will focus on being a watchdog, an advocate, and a resource for freedom-focused news, local events, and local information that is useful to local readers.

The digital newspaper will begin online however plans for a print component are in the works.

The basic business model is to provide local businesses with a low-cost, highly effective marketing resource that will effectively encourage local readers to “buy local first” as part of a freedom building initiative for the whole community.

Local businesses and organizations will have access to a whole range of services, including a free advertising cooperative, a $65 per month local business directory, display ads online and in print, video ads, SEO marketing, content marketing, and more.

This local digital-to-print local “newspaper’ is expected to appeal to a wide range of local readers who need local news and/or who want news from  pro-freedom perspective. With a local population of over 12,000 in the greater Blossburg PA region, which includes Arnot, Liberty, and Morris Run as well as neighboring townships, it is expected that daily readers will exceed 3,000-4,000 local readers.

The Blossburg Freedomist will be the first in a series of local versions of the Freedomist which will be licensed, conditional franchises operated by LOCAL editors who will be trained in the Freedomist news model.
