Is it “Legal” to Freely Disassociate from your Nazi Employees?

Eugene Volokh of the Washington Post asks the question, can private companies fire employees because they attended a white supremacist rally?  Of course, for the liberty-minded among us, that’s not enough a question.  But the fact that the question needs to be answered at all illustrates the degree to which people are conditioned to automatically assume they need permission to act on a fundamental “right” to free association. The fact that his answer turns out to not be so cut and dried (he starts off telling is it depends on the state where the firing took place and where the employee is working), should further illustrate how the ‘laws’ of this land do not exactly match up with the reality of liberty that all humans naturally possess.  In this case, the reality of liberty is simply that of being able to freely associate with others, end stop, no qualifier.   From washingtonpost.com That turns out to depend on the state where the employee is employed. (Note that I’m speaking here of firing for attending such a rally or speaking at it, not engaging in criminal violence connected with it.) The First Amendment applies only to government employers; it doesn’t apply to nongovernmental entities (whether or not those entities have government funding or contracts). Let’s focus then on private employers who fire such employees based on their own judgment (not...

Tesla’s Tiny House on Wheels Demonstrates New Solar Home Products

Tesla’s Tiny House hits the land Down Under, traveling the highways and byways of Australia to demonstrate the potential for its home solar products. From techcrunch.com Tesla has a new way to demonstrate the possibilities of its home solar products to potential customers – using a ‘tiny house’ on wheels, which it can tow on a rolling tour with a Tesla Model X. The Tesla Tiny House made its official debut in Australia (via Electrek), where it will welcome visitors at Melbourne’s Federation Square, before taking off for a cross-country Australian tour. The towable Tiny House is reminiscent of the mobile design studio it introduced last September, which was a reconfigured Airstream that let people build their own Tesla vehicle as a kind of mobile virtual studio. These solar-focused demonstration trailers also feature mobile design studios and configurators within, but for Tesla’s solar products, including solar panels and its Powerwall energy storage battery for the home. The Tiny House has actual siding this time around, which is made up of sustainable timber with not artificial chemical treatments. It weighs 2 tonnes (around 4,400 pounds) and has 2kW solar generation capacity using 6 panels, which can feed the single Powerwall battery mounted on the side. Bannon, Gorka Out- Is Trump Settling in to Puppet Role?

Rumor has it that Steve Bannon is out, as is Sebastian Gorka. If true, this news of a new round of purges in the Trump cabinet could signify a fundamental shift in the Trump Administration.  Steve Bannon is one of the last holdouts of the outsiders Trump originally brought in, but he has long had baggage, real or imagined, associated with Breitbart’s unproven, but oft-repeated, ties to the “Alt-Right.” I will make a note here that IF this Friday massacre happens as ‘sources’ are reporting, AND you see a relaxing of the intense legal scrutiny on President Trump, what you can deduce is that Donald has gotten the message, and he has accepted that the President is POTUSINO, President of the United States in Name Only, like almost every other President in the history of the coercive enterprise known as the United States of America. from lewrockwell.com White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is a marked man, according to news reports and sources inside the West Wing who see the nationalist Trump-whisperer’s political hourglass quickly losing sand. CBS News reported Monday night that the axe could fall as soon as Friday on the man credited with arranging the president’s marriage to millions of angry white working-class voters last year. The former Breitbart News executive chairman was once an equal partner in a ruling triumvirate of deputies that included Chief of...

Firefox To Block “Fake News” Sites from Browser, What Could Go Wrong?

The latest effort by yet another major internet gateway, this time Mozilla Firefox, reveals how entrenched collectivist, patronizing thinking is in Silicon Valley.  Mozilla Firefox fancies it can determine better than you and I what “fake news” is, so it will protect you from sites it deems as being fake news by blocking them from showing up in their browser. To be sure, the effort by these corporate entities to provide what they THINK will be the kind of product their customers and (in the case of Mozilla) their product (the audience) wants may very well end up create new opportunities for other businesses that have not been infected by the “we know better than you and we will protect you from yourself” bug. from activistpost.com Mozilla, the non-profit organization which runs the Firefox internet browser, said Wednesday it was launching an effort against “fake news,” as fact-checking software backed by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and George Soros got its first run-out in public to shape our Orwellian nightmare of future truth arbiters. Mozilla said it was “investing in people, programs and projects” in a new initiative to “disrupt misinformation online” calling for a “Mozilla Information Trust Initiative,” or MITI for short, Business Insider reported. They further stated the “internet’s ability to power democratic society suffers greatly” because of fabricated stories, such as the “Pope endorsing Donald Trump for the U.S. presidency”...

Tom Woods Letter- Everyone’s a Nazi Now

Tom Woods dissects the new trend of labeling anyone right of Che as being a Nazi in this open letter to the Liberty community.  I might add that within the Liberty community it seems that you are etiher a Nazi or a Commie, depending on which camp you’re talking to. From tomwoods.com Today’s Tom Woods Letter, which all the influential people receive every weekday. Be one of them. One of my listeners — a musician with a decent following — recently wrote to tell me he was under siege for posting some libertarian videos. People were calling him, you guessed it, a “Nazi.” Folks in my private Facebook group are giving him advice as I type this. It’s horrifying. The guy has done nothing wrong. But these days, everyone’s a Nazi. Folks, this is only going to get worse. You can sign all the petitions you like. You will not hold off the hysterics. If you’re not for universal health care, you’re a Nazi. If you’re not for socialism, you’re a Nazi. If you believe in private property, you’re a Nazi. If you’re not repeating the latest fashionable slogan, you may not necessarily be a Nazi, but you’re certainly pushing your luck. My Tom Woods Show guest for episode 975, anarcho-capitalist architect Patrik Schumacher, has been compared to the Nazis for his opposition to urban planning — even though Hitler favored urban planning. That...

Alaska Man Cleans Up His Town, with No Government Aid or Special Permission Slip

Ryan Butcher, who happens to be a Facebook friend of this writer, Paul Gordon, was featured in the Daily Sheeple for his work in Alaska, demonstrating that you don’t need government to take care of yourself or even your community.  Ryan saw a problem in his community, graffiti, and he went out and did something about it.  Be the liberty you hope to see, even if it means ‘getting dirty.’ From thedailysheeple.com Last Friday evening in Palmer, Alaska, one man made a huge difference in his small town. Taking charge to clean up the city, Ryan Butcher – in the rain and donning Carhartt coveralls – cleaned graffiti off playground equipment and painted over the damage. But he wasn’t alone. Earlier in the week, the graffiti enthusiasts decided to leave their disgusting mark in the small town of Palmer. They put their art everywhere. But it wasn’t really art. It was just sloppy, ugly graffiti. The vandals placed it on buildings, signs, storage containers, and tagged vehicles. They also let covered many surfaces in the AMooseMent playground where Ryan’s children swing and go down slides. It all began last Monday, when Ryan Butcher just a normal nice guy, decided to take his two children to the Palmer AMooseMent playground. They arrived and were surprised to see the wooden moose had been marked and the tug boat had been tagged. Complete with...

Michigan Tells Grandparents, Choose Between Guns or Grankids

Sometimes, according to the state of Michigan, you just have to choose between your grandchildren and your guns.  I mean, you can’t fully expect to have your “right” to bear arms AND your “right” to have your grandkids, can you?  Sometimes people just want too much freedom.  Next thing you know there will be ANARCHY all up in this place (as in, peace, and then who would pay for the wars?). From  bearingarms.com William and Jill Johnson of Ontonagon, Michigan want to be the foster-parents of their grandchild.   BUT… The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is going to make them choose between owning a gun and being foster-parents. William Johnson and his wife, Jill Johnson, of Ontonagon, were asked to be foster parents to their grandchild, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court. But William Johnson was surprised when caseworkers asked for the serial numbers for all of his guns and allegedly told him, “if you want to care for your grandson you will have to give up some of your constitutional rights.” The Johnsons and one other Michigan family, arguing their second amendment rights were being infringed on, sued. The case, Johnson et al v. Lyon, was filed on July 17 in the United States District Court Western District of Michigan. In its licensing rules for foster parents, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services classifies guns as hazardous materials. As...

Voluntary Background Check Law Ignored in Virginia

No difference with a new anti-gun state law?  This is my shocked face.  Apparently, a new Virginia law that expands criminal background checks, voluntarily, for private sales is yielding no results.  At the end of the day, unless there is some implied threat of force, most people will choose not to have their transactions documented by government.  Who knew? from thefranklinnewspost.com A new state law that expanded criminal background checks — all voluntary — for the private sale of firearms at Virginia gun shows may not be yielding the results that supporters had envisioned when it was put in place last year as part of a bipartisan gun safety deal. During the first full year of the measure ending June 30, only 54 voluntary background checks were requested by private sellers of firearms or their customers at 77 gun shows across the state. And of those, only one prospective gun buyer was denied the purchase of a gun, and he was never charged with an offense. By comparison, 39,738 mandatory criminal background checks were performed by federally licensed firearms dealers on their customers at gun shows between July 1, 2016, and June 30, resulting in 325 denials, according to newly released data from the Virginia Firearms Transaction Center, which is operated by the Virginia State Police. The numbers appear to show that private sellers are not requesting the voluntary...

Molecule-Sized Transistors Could Create Micro-Electro Reality

Transistors the size of molecules, oh my!  That’s right, electronics are getting smaller and smaller.  And now, a new breakthrough could make it possible to create electronic components as small as molecules, but not just any components, transistors.   from sciencedaily.com Date:August 14, 2017 Source:Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied ScienceSummary:Researchers have now reproducibly demonstrated current blockade — the ability to switch a device from the insulating to the conducting state where charge is added and removed one electron at a time — using atomically precise molecular clusters at room temperature. The study shows that single molecules can function as reproducible circuit elements such as transistors or diodes that can easily operate at room temperature. A major goal in the field of molecular electronics, which aims to use single molecules as electronic components, is to make a device where a quantized, controllable flow of charge can be achieved at room temperature. A first step in this field is for researchers to demonstrate that single molecules can function as reproducible circuit elements such as transistors or diodes that can easily operate at room temperature. A team led by Latha Venkataraman, professor of applied physics and chemistry at Columbia Engineering and Xavier Roy, assistant professor of chemistry (Arts & Sciences), published a study today in Nature Nanotechnology that is the first to reproducibly demonstrate current blockade — the ability to switch a device...

Dronepocolypse, Or, The Reason I Surrendered More Liberty to the State

They Can Take Our Drones, But They Can’t Take Our….Wait, Take Our Freedom Too “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” Benjamin Franklin Aggressive force is like water.  It travels the path of least resistance.  The less resistance aggressive force faces, the greater the tendency of aggressive force to rush in.  The government, the state, the coercive enterprise, applies aggressive force often to influence the action of others, even influencing the action of others who have done no harm to anyone else. A friend of mine, one who...

Self Driving Trucks Will Lead to Civil War Says Ex Facebook Employee

The BBC recently did a story about an ex Facebook employee who claims that civil unrest, possibly civil war, is coming, but it’s not for the reasons that you imagine.  It’s not about politics or ideology anymore, it’s about survival according to this ex-Facebook employee.  The man claims to have been working on self driving trucks, and he believes that this technology, and others like it, will soon put millions of people out of work.  Many of those people are armed, and they’ll be looking to get what they can. Here is an excerpt from that video: The post Self Driving Trucks Will Lead to Civil War Says Ex Facebook Employee appeared first on iState. Source...
