The National Review wrote a piece today on the push for a Mike Pence Presidential Campaign……
“In a letter to Pence, conservatives Ryun, ex-House Majority Leader Dick Armey and longtime activist Morton Blackwell, among others, pushed the congressman to think nationally. “Seize this moment, Mike,” they wrote. No other potential candidate — including Palin — has been the target of such an intense recruitment drive.”
The surge in support for a Pence as the Conservative Champion effort is starkly different than the other potential candidacies. Pence is, perhaps, a reluctant candidate who, if he runs, is responding to others who are ready, willing, and able to throw their support, which equals donations and potential voters, behind Mike Pence.
The real question some are asking, generally among the political insiders, is “are we going win from the middle?” This argument, oft used by moderates who want to capitalize on conservative support while discarding the conservative agenda in general, was used in 2008 and propelled McCain, thanks to a last-minute endorsement by then Florida Governor, and GOP turncoat, Charlie Crist, to a GOP Primary win.
The “win from the middle” argument has been used to bludgeon conservatives into accepting non-conservative candidates for years, and the net effect is an increasingly leftward lurch that has no right-ward check to keep things in balance.
Mike Pence is considering running for President,
and people are URGING him to run.
