Romney The Also-Ran and Father of Obamacare

Opponents of Obamacare are looking back and seeing that Mitt Romney, despite his denials, is the father of Obamacare. It was his “reform” of healthcare in Massachusetts that was the inspiration, and to a large part the justification, of Obamacare, and the results obtained in Massachussetts were similar to those we are now seeing for the nation.

Mitt Romney wants to be president, and he is calling in all his markers, looking for money from his rich friends. While he may be piling up quite a war chest, often at the expense of other causes that find Romney’s people beat them to the donor’s door, he is not out there taking hits and fighting in the trenches. Romney neither helps other candidates nor stands up for any issues or causes that might be controversial.

A Romney presidential bid is a purely top-down affair, and while there are those who would vote for him, especially blue bloods and RINOS, there is no groundswell from the People, and to say Romney is even “liked” by the Tea Party is an over-statement. Like the typical GOP politico of old, Romney sticks his finger in the wind and tries to follow the direction of that wind.

The Primary battle will potentialy give Romney an edge in the liberal-leaning states that are first in the line-up, and no doubt Romney will shamelessly use this to his advantage, but few of the rank and file Tea Partiers are begging Romney to run,  or can remember anything he’s done of substance to help them in the past two years.
