Our Readers Who Comment are predictably throwing partisan darts at each other in response to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll that shows enormous dissatisfaction with the federal government, with President Obama, and the state of the economy. In sum, it’s bad news for Democrats with the congressional elections just around the corner.
Democratic-sounding readers keep falling back on reminders of how bad things were in the George Bush years, but offer little defense of the current administration. Republican-sounding readers complain about the socialist Obama administration. Nobody is happy about the economy and several say they prefer divided government.
As Dan Balz and pollster Jon Cohen write, “For the first time in more than four years, Republicans run about evenly with Democrats on the basic question of which party they trust to handle the nation’s biggest problems.” The poll’s questions and results are here.
