Mike Castle- A Freedom Report on the man who could empower the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Lame Duck Congress- Election 2010

Mike Castle is the presumed-to-be GOP nominee in the Delaware Senate Primary for this November’s Special Senate Election to fill the Joe Biden Seat.  This is a report on Mike Castle that details his unconstitutional, extreme left Liberal voting history.  If Mike Castle wins the GOP nomination in the Delaware Senate Primary race, Freedomists, Constitutionalists, will have no hope of stopping the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Lame Duck Congress from cramming Cap and Trade, Card Check, and many more extreme left programs through.

If you take a walk through Mike Castle’s key votes, Mike Castle’s key contributors, a picture emerges of a far-left extremist who makes RINOs look like far right extremists.  We document, in this Mike Castle Report, his position on helping the Dems change the Filibuster Rules, his support of Cap and Trade, his betrayal of the troops when he opposed the Iraq Troop Surge, his vote FOR the Obama takeover of our Financial System, the notorious vote for Teacher Union Bailouts, how and WHY he voted for TARP, and, perhaps most damning of all, his co-authorship, co-sponsorship and vote FOR the democrat attempt to silence Conservative opposition to the Obama machine, the thankfully failed DISCLOSE ACT.

The Delaware Senate Race of 2010 is the most important Election this midterm cycle.  A true Constitutional Conservative could take a seat in the Senate immediately.  This one seat could derail the Obama-Reid-Pelosi plans to cram through Obama’s Leftist agenda with a Lame-Duck CongressThe Freedomist recognizes only one candidate in the Delaware Senate Race who can fill this role, Christine O’Donnell.  To that end, we are producing this report on her first opponent, Mike Castle, in the GOP primary.  We encourage fellow Freedomists to share information on the details of this fundamental race for Freedom, the Delaware Senate Race.

Here are the 8 Reasons Why You Should Support a Constitutional Conservative against Mike Castle, and why, if you live in Delaware, you should NOT vote for Mike Castle in the GOP primary race for Senate:

Mike Castle- poised to help dems end fillibuster protection against leftist agenda

1. Mike Castle- Supports ending Filibuster Rules to open floodgates of radical left legislation in Lame Duck Congress

Mike Castle stands for changing the Senate Rules to disallow the use of the Filibuster to stop Legislation going through.  Such a move serves only to empower the Lame Duck Congress to speed through more Far Left Programs like Cap and Trade, Card Check, and more.

Mike Castle expressed to blogger/reporter Mike Stark a willingness to look at Senate filibuster reform.

Stark: If you win your Senate seat, would you support filibuster reform?

Castle: I might. I’d look at that, it’s something I would certainly look at… I think that’s an issue that transcends Republicans or Democrats. It’s a question of how well does the Senate function. I’m impressed with Senators who have been there a long time, who argue that’s it’s perfectly good. But from the outside, it looks to me like a distraction from pursuing an agenda…… I am basically looking at a lot of procedures in the Senate, in terms of their rules and lack thereof, and you know, trying to determine what improvements can be made… I may speak to that before the election.

2. Mike Castle- Supporter of Cap and Trade

Mike Castle supports Obama's Socialist Darling- Cap and Trade

Mike Castle is not ashamed of his Cap and Trade support.  He proudly posts an article about his support on his government website.  Do you think this open Cap and Trader is the answer in the GOP Delaware Senate Primary?

Rep. Mike Castle, R-Del., said several developments bode well for climate-change legislation: the arrival of a new president and new chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the growing cooperation of businesses and the realization that such legislation will open up new market opportunities.

“I think all these things combined will give us the opportunity to see something happen in the course of this year,” said Castle, who supports a cap-and-trade program.

The newest member of Delaware’s delegation, Democratic Sen. Ted Kaufman, also supports a cap-and-trade scheme: “Cap-and-trade, designed carefully, is the best way to make pollution expensive — and it gives businesses the incentive to find new products and processes, to cut costs by cutting emissions,” he said.

  1. 3. Mike Castle- Voted Against the Iraq Troop Surge

Believe it or not, the possible GOP-nominee in the election that will determine the power of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine to cram Leftist fascism through the Lame Duck congress, the Special Delaware Senate Election, voted against the Iraq Troop Surge.  This is further proof of his far left reality masked behind the GOP label he only symbolically wears.

From http://delawarerepublican.wordpress.com

In true form, liberal Rep. Mike Castle (R?-DE) voted against the Iraq troop surge.   Once again he sided with the Democrats and against his OWN party and President Bush.  Here is the text of the bill:

This measure expresses the House’s disagreement with President Bush’s planned troop buildup in Iraq. The nonbinding resolution pledges support for U.S. personnel serving “bravely and honorably in Iraq” but says Congress “disapproves” of the president’s plan to add more than 20,000 combat troops. The resolution was approved 246 to 182. Seventeen Republicans joined 229 Democrats in support of the resolution. Two Democrats opposed the measure. While the 95-word resolution has no legal weight to force the president to change his course in Iraq, it marks a first key showdown between the White House and the new Congress controlled by Democrats.

4. Mike Castle- Voted For Financial Reform measure that empowers Leftist Agenda

Mike Castle was one of the key votes in Congress that allowed the Obama Financial reform measure to pass this summer.  He attempted to make excuses for voting for a piece of legislation that was unconstitutional, that empowered leftists, and empowered Obama to ‘fundamentally transform America” but offered no real reason why he chose to continue to be a Leftist tool hiding behind GOP labels he has never lived up to.

From http://www.freerepublic.com

Rep. Mike Castle isn’t gushing over the financial reform bill he helped pass this week, but he thinks it’s better than an earlier version he opposed in December.

Castle, of Delaware, was among only three Republicans to vote for the bill, a compromise measure crafted by a conference committee that merged different versions passed by the House and Senate. The Senate is expected to vote on the bill after the July 4 recess.

Castle issued a statement saying that the bill, though “far from perfect,” is “an honest attempt at finding common ground and compromise.”

Castle, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, said he worked to include proposals to mitigate systemic risk through a new monitoring council, impose new transparency requirements for hedge funds, track the relationship between employees of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Wall Street, and fulfill an audit of the Federal Reserve’s emergency spending authority.

He would have preferred that the bill contain no corporate governance language at all, but he said it was changed in ways that make it less threatening to corporate-friendly Delaware.

Castle said Republican claims the bill will be a “permanent bailout” are “a bit of an overstatement.” He said the financial oversight panel the bill would create could spot risky banking practices early and recommend that the Fed take steps to minimize risk to consumers.

“I feel there’s some safety measures put in place,” he said. “It’s not a bailout situation.”

5. Mike Castle- authored, supported, voted for Dem attempt to silence opposition- Disclose Act

Mike Castle was instrumental in pushing the Dem agenda this past summer.  One key piece of Legislation that failed to pass Congress (thanks to a filibuster in the Senate) was the Disclose Act, which sought to ignore the recent Supreme Court Ruling on Mccain-Feingold, enabling Lefist groups like the Unions and hurting activist groups that traditionally support Conservative, Constitutional Values.  If Mike Castle had been a Senator instead of a Congressman, the Disclose Act would have passed this summer.

CASTLE SUPPORTS DISCLOSE ACT

Votes to Increase Transparency in Electoral Process

Washington | June 24, 2010 - Today the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5175, the DISCLOSE Act, by 219-206.  As a sponsor of the legislation, Congressman Mike Castle voted in favor of the bill to create new rules of disclosure for political advertisements that attempt to persuade voters.  The base bill was written to apply evenly to any corporation, union or organization intending to influence an election outcome.  In addition, the bill would prohibit foreign-owned companies, large government contractors and TARP recipients from running ads in American elections.  During consideration in the House, the bill was amended to exempt certain large non-profit organizations; however, Congressman Castle opposed any effort to weaken the legislation and opposed the amendment.

“Political advertisements attempt to influence voters and Americans deserve to know who is paying for those ads,” said Rep Castle.  “The DISCLOSE Act requires that this information be made public, just as candidates are required to take responsibility for a campaign advertisement.  Most opponents of the bill would prefer that the legislation protect those groups that are likely to favor and support them during election season.  I believe that all groups should be treated equally under the new disclosure requirements and I voted against the effort to carve out certain large, non-profit organizations from the bill.  As the bill moves through the Senate, I would like to see a clean bill which applies equally to all corporations, organizations and unions, in order to put voter’s interests ahead of political favoritism.”

Is Mike Castle preparing to wash his hands from Leftist guilt?

6. Mike Castle- Votes For Teacher Union Bailout- so-called Jobs Bill

Mike Castle followed Joe Biden’s lead in joining only two republicans in voting for the Union Teacher Bailout wrapped around the so-callled Jobs Bill.  Had Mike Castle been in the Senate, would he have been the 41st vote to stop the far left agenda of the Obama-Reid-Pelosi ‘fundamental transformation of America’?  We think not.

From http://blogs.delawareonline.com

Rep. Mike Castle broke with his party today and voted yes on legislation that will provide additional federal assistance to state budgets and schools…….

…Castle was one of two Republicans who voted in favor of the legislation….

Castle released the following statement about his vote:

In normal circumstances, individual states have the primary responsibility of maintaining a budget to meet the challenging economic times and I don’t believe that the federal government should be in the habit of closing these gaps. However, I supported this aid package to states at a time of economic hardship in order to preserve vital medical services to the neediest of Americans and prevent layoffs within our education community.  The bill was less than ideal but remained in line with rules to offset the cost of the aid so that American taxpayers are protected from an increase in the federal deficit.

Mike Castle contemplates why he voted for TARP- oh yeah, to please his big bank masters

7. Mike Castle- Supporter of TARP is supported by TARP benefactors

Mike Castle was one of the block of republicans that switched sides to vote for the monstrosity known as TARP.  Could this be a philosophical belief or did he have OTHER motives?  Mike Castle has proven to be a politician, in his career, that votes with the money.  If you take a look at his list of donors, you will find the big TARP benefactors amongst them.  Will Mike Castle stand for Constitutional values against the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Lame Duck congress?  We think not.

The following are all recipients of TARP bailout money

TARP FUNDS DONATIONS

Citigroup Inc                     $25 Billion                                   $5,500

JPMorgan Chase & Co     $25 Billion                                  $5,000

Wells Fargo & Co             $25 Billion                                  $1,000

Bank of America Corp      $15 Billion                                  $10,000

Goldman Sachs Group Inc $10 Billion                                   $2,000

Morgan Stanley                  $10 Billion                                   $5,500

US Bancorp                       $6.6 Billion                                  $3,000

Total:   $116.6 Billion                               $32,000

This is but a small sampling of both the TARP payouts and the donations received by Rep. Castle’s campaign from PACs representing these banks and their employees, who received taxpayer money in the bailout. And while it can be argued that PACs represent donations from individual employees, it cannot be ignored that these employees benefited from the TARP money, through wages and bonuses……

8. Mike Castle- From SEIU to the AFL-CIO, Castle supports Unions and their agenda- Election 2010

Mike Castle has been funded by labor organizations for a good reason.  He champions their causes better than 50% of the time.  One of the Labor Unions he has the closest ties to is the SEIU.  Mike Castle’s support of the SEIU, however, can be directly traced to the amount of money they gave him that year.  To date, Castle has received $30,000 from SEIU since 2000.  Ask yourselves if Mike Castle can be counted on to the the 41st vote that stops the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Lame Duck Congress from further ‘fundamentally transforming America’

politicallyfrank.wordpress.com:

….    In the year 2000, Rep. Castle supported the interest of the SEIU  a whopping 0%.  But they donated $5,000 to him anyway, aren’t those leftist so sweet? The following year 2001, Mr. Castle’s support of the SEIU agenda shot up to 25% of the time, coincidence?

…..In 2004 he supported the SEIU 57% of the time and received$5,000, 2005 25% of the time , 2006 33% of the time and received $5,000, 2007 63% of the time and received $5,000 and of course in 2008 83% of the time and he only received $1000. It would seem as if Mr. Castle has climbed all the way aboard the SEIU funded bus.…… Here are a few stats on Mr. Castle’s voting record on labor issues.

2009  Representative Castle supported the interests of the AFL-CIO 62 percent in 2009

2009  Representative Castle supported the interests of the American Federation of Government Employees 46 percent in 2009.

2009  Representative Castle supported the interests of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers 60 percent in 2009.

2008  Representative Castle supported the interests of the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees 57 percent in 2008.

We hope you can now see why the Delaware Senate Race of 2010 is the most important Election this midterm cycle.  A true Constitutional Conservative could derail the Obama-Reid-Pelosi plans to cram through Obama’s Leftist agenda with a Lame-Duck Congress.  Mike Castle is no more effective in standing up to Obama’s attempt to “Fundamentally transform America” than any other Progressive that might win that seat.   We hope, after reading this report, that our fellow Freedomists will share information on the details of this fundamental race for Freedom, the Delaware Senate Race.
