The quiet of a late Sunday afternoon in midcountry Greenwich was broken by the chanting and slogans of about 70 conservative and Tea Party activists who rallied outside a fundraising event for an embattled Democratic senator in the home of a wealthy venture capitalist.
The event was held for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who is facing a fierce battle to retain his seat in the face of a strong Republican challenge. Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., helped arrange the event.
