Supreme Court may soon have no protestant members- Christian News- Top Story
It could well be that the U.S. Supreme Court, for the first time ever, will soon have no Protestant members – a gradual development that legal and religion scholars say has evaded widespread notice during the past five decades.
Perhaps just as surprising: Few expect anyone to complain much about it if it does happen.
“As long as the religious mix is between Catholics and Jews, I don’t think you’re going to get much of a stink out if it,” said Tom Slade, a Jacksonville resident and former Florida Republican Party chairman. “We have become a homogenized society from a religious standpoint.”
It may not be long before Slade’s prediction comes true. News outlets and political blogs were quoting unnamed White House staffers Friday saying Elena Kagan, who’s Jewish, is President Barack Obama’s pick for the nomination.
