Can politics save us or is Church growth the answer?

This might sound like a strange headline, but it is a valid question, I think.I have been involved with politics, and with growing churches, so I feel I have something to say that you wll be excited to know.Full disclosure, my company, Kross Publishing, believes in and promotes church growth. We are presently offering 30 “seats” for free attendance to a church growth webinar that you normally have to pay 40 bucks to attend. The URL is here: http://free.churchgrowthreports.com.

The program is a pretty low-cost and easy to implement way to retain and mobilize visitors, and it literally has a 100% success rate. So that’s exciting, if you’re a pastor, which I would guess few of you are.Church growth is good, but what about politics? Well, again full disclosure, I am involved in politics. I am the community governance adviser for
http://www.teamsarah.org, a virtual community that includes over 76,000 members and in any given week has an activity level of 9% to 24%, which is pretty active. Working with a team of 4 main “Guides” and around 30 volunteers, as well as 500 or so group owners and constantly active members, I think the members and leaders of Team Sarah make a huge difference, way beyond their numbers.

I have been an acting Pastor, started a church, was a Youth Pastor, and have done training on and led multi-church evangelism efforts at the neighborhood level. I have also been involved in political activities of major importance, and my brother, Paul, is considered to be a “secret weapon” for managing and influencing the “narrative” online in lots of cool ways I can’t share with you.I’m not telling you this to brag, I simply want to show you that when it comes to evangelism and politics, I definitely have the passion, and enough personal experience, to say that I am not
just talking theory. I know what it’s like to struggle to build a church and reach the lost, I also know what it’s like to try to make your voice be heard.

As a newspaper publisher, before moving into the digital/web media, I have been able to meet and work with political and church leaders, and I sympathize with both.I believe in standing for the truth, and through my role in Team Sarah and my role in http://www.reagan2.org, I do my bit, alongside many others, to push back against policies that undermine Life, Families, Liberty, the Free Market, Religious Freedom, and our Constitution.

As a principle in Kross Publishing, which owns http://www.freedomist.com, among other sites, I work with a growing team, led by Paul Collier, that includes two of the sharpest business people I know, Juanita and Johnny Berguson. These two people have incredible faith and wisdom, and love God selflessly.

We strive to use the web to transform the world, inspired in no small part by http://www.thewebstersdictionary.com (written by Ralph Benko). Now, having said all that, I have to say: politics will not save us, although we should become engaged, and church growth will really only help us IF the people who join us at church are properly cared for and educated.

We can’t just bring people in and then ignore them, we can’t just tell people to “go to church”, we have to provide the place and the context, or even the training, for them to find meaningful connections and relationships, to empower and equip them to find purpose and meaning in serving God, in serving one another, and in serving the world around them. When Paul asked me if we wanted to accept 30 free “seats” in a church growth webinar, at http://free.churchgrowthreports.com, to hand out, I thought, “well, we don’t normally have church stuff on our sites.” The program, and the information shared at this webinar are known to me.

I had a good friend who is a Pastor
tell me how great it was, and he was amazed that I knew the folks who do it. The man who usually runs these webinars is perhaps one of the most intuitive teachers I have ever met. He can teach people to sing in literally under ten minutes: it’s a marvel to behold!I decided to accept these 30 free seats and let pastors come, on a first come, first served basis, to claim a seat.

If this sounds like a “pitch”, the real pitch is not the webinar, our readers are political junkies for the most part: the real pitch is that if we draw people to Christ, personally, and if we don’t just “take them to church” but help them become connected and fully functional within a local fellowship of other Christians, we will have done quite a lot to “save America” from the spiritual darkness that permeates the land. You may not be a Christian, so you might be asking, “why are writing this?” Well, I have non-Christian friends, but I think even THEY would agree that if more
Americans were involved in churches that truly cared for them, it might just save America!
