Letters To God Hits Theaters April 9th

The latest movie from the makers of such great films as Facing the Giants, Flywheel, and Fireproof bring to the screen another hit I believe.

Letters to God, inspired by the true story of 8-year-old Tyler Doherty and his courageous battle with brain cancer. During his illness Tyler writes letters to God and mails them each day. His letters, more like prayers fall into the hands of a postman who is searching for meaning in his life.

Patrick Doherty, Tyler’s real father, wrote “Letters to God” after his son lost his battle with cancer. He believes Tyler’s courage and child-like faith will give others hope.

Doherty admits “Letters to God” was, at first, just a “cool title” for a movie. It wasn’t until after the death of his son and a year-and-a-half after the screenplay was finished that he found Tyler’s real letters to God.

Atheist-Vampire Novelist Finds No Jesus No Peace

Author Anne Rice famed for her Interiew With A Vampire has learned to know Jesus is to know peace. She confesses this in a video in which she shares her return to Christianity.

In a recently posted video called I Am Second, Rice shares about her 38 years as what she calls a  ”Christ-haunted atheist” Her vampire novels, a reflection of her internal struggle in the godless world she created.

And returning to Christ has changed everything in her life. For one, she no longer feels she can work with the vampire metaphor. “I wasn’t a person in a godless world [anymore], far from it,” she says.

Now Rice devotes her time writing books that are “directly to God and devoted to Jesus Christ.”“I have changed and I have to do this,” she says with determination. “I have to write for Him.”Her Christian books include Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt, Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana, and Angel Time: The Songs of the Seraphim.

Rice is the latest celebrity to give a video testimony on “I Am Second,” a movement which seeks to lift up Christ by declaring that He is first and we are second.

Media Continues Calling Members Of Anti-govenment Militia Plot “Christians!”

Media outlets such as ABC and CNN  have been irresponsively reporting on the group arrested in Michigan for plotting to kill law enforcement officials as “christians.” Dr. Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commision voiced the accusations  against the media. “Even if they identify themselves as Christians, what they were allegedly planning is absolutely contrary to Christianity. They may have illicitly co-opted the Christian faith to justify their murderous intentions, but it is defamatory for the media to keep referring to them as Christians. They are simply terrorists.”

“I find it hypocritical that news organizations will not call someone who carries out Jihad in accordance to his faith what he really is, an Islamic terrorist, for fear of offending Muslims. But when some insane person claims to be a Christian and does something completely contrary to the Christian faith, the media keeps making the libelous association,” said Cass. “It’s time for the news media to stop this transparent double standard.”

Obama Intent To Impose Mideast Settlement Feared By Israel

During Obama’s meeting last Tuesday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu it seems his intention is to impose a permanent settlement  on Israel and the  Palestinians in the next two years, say sources in the polictical arena in Jerusalem.Officials in Israel view this as the tip of the iceberg in a dramatic change in America’s policy toward Israel.

One major demand is seen by Jerusalem as implying that direct negotiations would be bypassed. This would set up a framework through which the Americans would be able to impose a final settlement. This along with the total of 10 demands by Obama, four of which deal with such as opening a Palestinian  commercial interest office in East Jerusalem and not building  the neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo.

This coupled with the new operandi of American diplomacy which includes being in contact with Israeli Europian allies, first Germany is seen as a tactic to isolate Israel and put a large amount of polictal pressure on them as well.”Moreover, sources in Jerusalem say that the new American positions undermine the principle of credibility that has guided U.S. foreign policy since the end of World War II. Ignoring specific promises made to its Israeli ally would make other American allies lose trust in its commitments to them.”

Revs. Torn Over Church, Civil Loyalties Over Same-Sex Marriage

Many churches are struggling over ways to help gays and lesbians feel accepted and welcomed into their congregation and to recognize their love relationships. Rev. Mary Kay Totty who can now marry these couples could be defrocked if she does. “The institutional church has for so many years oppressed and excluded and harmed our [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] sisters and brothers,” Totty said. “We have to say: ‘Enough already. These are people’s lives and loves that we continue to exclude from the fullness of life in the church.’ ”

As many churches struggle to find which policy to follow may I ask why don’t you follow God’s policy and just say no and tell them the truth. It really isn’t about lives and loves. It is about souls!

Pastor Fills His own Pocket With Katrina Relief Funds

Former presidents Bush and Clinton head up and have raised millions to help Katrina victims, but it seems that Pastor Gary Dante Johnson of the  Myrtlewood AOH Church in Sweet Water had more on his mind than helping others when he applied for funds in July 2006. First of all the church is located  more than 100 miles north of the coast and is in Marengo County, and did not receive a scratch during Katrina.

Most of the $20,000 awarded to the church by the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund wound up supporting a personal spending spree for Johnson, prosecutors said, ranging from hotel rooms to restaurants to purchases at the clothing store New York Hi Style. Now Johnson is serving a three year sentence and must pay back all the funds. Some people don’t seem to have a moral bone in their body.It reminds us that evil is present in all places, but God is certainly greater!

Man Jailed For Praying In The Park-Elmira, N.Y.

Julian Raven of Elmira N.Y., a Christian, was surprised when police showed up at his office, handcuffed him and took him off to jail. His crime? Raven was praying in a park with six other people and for this was charged with disorderly conduct. His wife said that after his court hearing  he was escorted in handcuffs to serve a nine day jail sentence, in front of his crying children.

Raven was arrested while praying in an Elmira public park during a 2007 “gay pride” event. His attorneys are waiting for a response from the New York Court of Appeals.

The Alliance Defense Fund is defending Raven and his ADF senior legal counsel Joel Oster, said “We are surprised at how eager the city was to arrest Mr. Raven again in light of his appeal. Now he will serve time in jail; however, we will continue to aggressively pursue his appeal in court.”

Raven and the others were praying silently! Bet the gays weren’t even silent!

Abortion Arranged For 15 Year Old At Washinton High School!

In Seattle, Washinton a mom is furious after finding out that her daughter, 15 was helped to have an abortion by a health care center at a public high school without her consent. The youth was given a pregnancy test and when it came back positive the girl was sent to an abortion clinic without the parents being notified.

The mother identified as “Jill” had signed a consent form allowing her daughter to get treatment at the health center but had no idea the center could arrange abortions. Jill stated no where in the paper does it mention abortion or facillitating abortion.

Jill says her daughter was given a pass to leave campus during school hours and left for the abortion clinic in a taxi. “They just told her that if she concealed it from her family, that the abortion would be free of charge and no financial responsibility,” she told Seattle affiliate KOMO-TV.

The state of Washington does not have any parental consent laws. Lord help us! Does she need parental consent to get her ears pierced?!

Former President Bush told a group of about 700 college students and business leaders “the biggest surprise of the presidency was the calming effect of prayer by total strangers,” Bush spoke privately to the group of students at Southeastern University, an Assemblies of God-affiliated school in
central Florida on Friday, March 12th.  ”Imagine being a president of the United States and innumerable people would come up to you on a rope line and they’re not going to say `I want a bridge’ or `I want something special.’ They come up to you and say, `I’m here to tell you, Mr. President, that I pray for you.

Bush shared his testimony at length with Southeastern Chancellor Tommy Barnett including his battle with alcoholism and how during a conversation with Evangelist Billy Graham in his parent’s living room and after 5 glasses of wine he was convinced to give up the bottle. Bush says he would never have become president otherwise.

Bush talked openly about practicing his Christianity in office, including sharing his faith with the Russian and Chinese heads of state. He said he told the Chinese president that Christianity is good for China. “Wouldn’t you like to have a people whose first obligation is to love?” he recalled telling the Chinese leader.

Pelosi Praises Religious Left For Obamacare Support

As Speaker Pelosi spoke before the House of Representatives, on March 24, she took the time to thank  religius left groups for their enthusiastic support. She especially pointed out that United Methodist Church was most appreciated for lobbying congress “to say yes to health care reform.”

The religious left’s views are pretty well summed up in some of what IRD President Mark Tooley had to say;  “The Religious Left version of Jesus’ love is an unceasingly expanding federal welfare state that coercively seizes assets from one segment of society for redistribution to other segments, according to coarse political calculations, and with all the efficiency and compassion for which mammoth state bureaucracies are renowned.

Pelosi shouldn’t think any of us are surprised by the religious left views. The Methodist Church
was one of the first churches to help woman get to places to get abortions in states that offered it  before it was legal in states where it wasn’t. I and the millions of other Americans do not supprt this view,nor do I believe does God!

I say truly the left as a whole believes there is no salvation outside “Big Government.”

Attacks On Christians In India Reach 1,000 In 500 Days

An unprecendented wave of attacks on minority Christians in southern Karnataka state, reaching up to more than 1,000 in 500 days began on September 14th, 2008. Justice Michael Saldanha, a former judge of the high court has done an independent investigation said that 12 churches were attacked on that first day.

The latest attack took place on Wednesday (March 17), when a mob of around 150 people led by the Hindu extremist Vishwa Hindu Parishad (World Hindu Council or VHP) and its youth wing, Bajrang Dal, stormed the funeral of a 50-year-old Christian identified only as Isaac, reported the Karnataka-based Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC). As Pastor Sundar Raj of the St. Thomas Church in Gijahalli began the funderal service the mob pulled the casket apart and desecrated the cross the relatives were carrying, and threw his body into a tractor and dumped it outside. They claimed his body contaminated Indian soil and should be buried in Rome or America.

Aulbert Gubay, a british billionaire, who is 82 has fulfilled a divine pact he made with God decades ago. Gubay had told God that he would share half of his finances with Him if The Almighty helped him with his finances.

Gubay, a retail entrepreneur, put his business empire worth around 460 million pounds (690 million) into a charitable trust. Half of the funds will be spent on projects connected to the Roman Catholic Church, of which Gubay was a lifelong member, and the other half to whomever the trustees deen appropriate. Gubay will keep15 million to tide him over during his old age.

Gubay, although not as well known as Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, who also gave away fortunes, is surely known by God as a man who kept his word. Apparently as always God kept His too!

Husband Burnt Alive-Wife Raped By Police-While Children Watch-Pakistan

A Christian Pakastani couple who refused to convert to Islam were brutally tortured in front of their three children ranging in age from 7 to 12. The husband, 38 year old Arshed Masih was set on fire and his wife Martha was raped by police, all in front of the police station!  Masih and his wife were hospitalized. Masih who had burns covering over 80% of his body, died on March 22.

In 2005, Masih and his wife began working for a wealthy Muslim businessman, he as driver and she as his wife’s maid. Recently, the two fell out of favour with their employer and his family because they insisted on remaining Christian. The couple offered to leave their job but the businessman allegedly threatened to kill him if he left. In January religious leaders and Sheikh Muhammed Sultan, the businessman Masih worked for threatened them with dire consequences if the family did not convert to Islam.

The government of Punjab announced on Sunday, an investigation is underway. “The matter will be investigated and the culprits will be arrested,” Punjab’s Minister of Law Rana Sanaullah said. I would hope so, but with the police possibly being part of culprits, makes you wonder! Christian churches and human rights groups have condemned the assault and have protested outside of the police station where the couple met their fate.

Pro-life People Not Impressed By Obama’s “Executive Order” To Not Use Taxpayer Money For Abortion Funding!

As Obama issued an executive order affirming prohibitions in current law and in the health legislation against taxpayer money going toward abortions, many were persuaded to feel satisfied, such as Republican Bart Stupak of Michigan, leader of the  anti abortion bloc and some democrats who swung their vote.

However, the National Right To Life Committee swiftly issued a statement disputing Stupak’s claim. The executive order promised by President Obama was issued for political effect. It changes nothing,” the group said. “It does not correct any of the serious pro-abortion provisions in the bill.”

Many believe this “compromise” is an accounting gimmick and the reality is that taxpayers would be footing the bill, since health plans that cover abortion would be receiving federal funding. Yes, Obama, you can fool some of the people some of the time but many are wise to you, including me!

Supreme Court Turns Blind Eye On Abortion Clinic Case!

Abortion opponets complained after the Supreme Court rejected a challenge to a Massachusetts law that creates a protest free zone around the entrances and driveways of abortion clinics. The supreme court justices offered no comment Monday on turning down the appeal. Anti-abortion protesters say the law violates their freedom of speech and forces them into the streets, where they have been in danger of being hit by cars, while trying to persuade pregnant women into keeping their babies.

State Attorney General Martha Coakley, recently defeated in her U.S. Senate bid, has defended the law as enhancing public safety while still giving protesters the right to express themselves.

I say it is not about safety as much as it is about politics or you would certainly apply the same law to the anti-war and anti america crowd! Come on Supreme Court do your job and protect freedom of speech!

Affordable Housing Leads To Battle Over Separation Of Church And State In Arlington

In 2004 Arlington County and The First Baptist Church of Clarendon struck a deal to redevelope prime land in the Clarendon Metro station area by building 46 market rate and 70 affordable apartments. The apartments, with rates starting at $1,000 per month would also include a sanctuary, a renovated church education center and three to four stories of underground parking. The historic steeple of the church would remain intact.

This seemed well and dandy till area neighbors in the well to do Lyons Village showed how not impressed they were by filing suit twice and calling the building intrusive. They have now turned their suit into an accusation of the violation of the First Amendment. Peter Glassman, a financial advisor and resident who lives near the church is claiming that the 48 million in county and state loans and federal tax credits are paying for the redevelopement and the enrichment of the church. The county took “unprecedented steps to promote, sponsor and fund the demolition, rebuilding and renovation of a Baptist Church with taxpayer money,” his lawsuit says.

A judge in U.S. District Court in Alexandria will hear the county’s motion to dismiss the case on April 2nd. An early ruling allows construction to continue. Although the church and apartments may share a common lobby, I don’t believe they will be forcing residents to go to their church. So, what’s the problem?

Revival Hindered By Prosperity Gospel

Senior Pastor Michael Catt, of The Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga., says that the prosperity gospel is hindering revival. “Revival is not about a large crowd but it is about broken people who want to get right with God, said the Baptist pastor whose church made the hit films “Facing the Giants” and “Fireproof.”According to Pastor Catt  revival is about repentance, confession, restoration and brokenness. It is a time of pruning and puritfying, not church growth.

However,the prosperity gospel brings confusion. Prosperity gospel, as defined by the Lausanne Theology Working Group, is the teaching that “believers have a right to the blessings of health and wealth and that they can obtain these blessings through positive confessions of faith and the ‘sowing of seeds’ through the faithful payments of tithes and offerings.”

Sometimes the prosperity gospel and the feel-good gospel tell people what they want to hear,” Catt said. “[But] when you lay that by the side of Jesus’ teaching [to] take up the cross – the only reason for the cross in the first century is to die – and to die daily, to crucify your flesh then you have to think how does this fit?” I agree!

Suprising Amount of Opposition on Abortion and the HC Bill

Recent Polls have shown that the majority of Americans do not support federal funding for health care plans that will pay for abortions. 51% said that they think any woman who wants to get an abortion should have to pay for it out of their pocket.

I agree, why should American Citizens ahve to pay for a woman to abort a baby? That woman had sexual relations with a man and either should have used birth control or just abstained. Women need to understand that when you are sexually active you risk yourself of getting pregnant. If you get pregnant America should not have to pay for you to kill a child you are responsible for conceiving.

12 states ready to challenge the Health Care Bill

“The health care legislation Congress passed tonight is an assault against the Constitution,” said South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster. “A legal challenge by the states appears to be the only hope of protecting the American people from this unprecedented attack on our system of government,” he said in a statement.

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum issued a similar statement late Sunday. “If the president signs this bill into law, we will file a lawsuit to protect the rights and interests of American citizens,” he said.

After months and months going round and round the Health Care Reform debate, its now over, almost. The bill has passed through and now all it needs is for Obama to sign it, which he will on Tuesday. Our last hope is that when it reaches the courts it will get shut down and not passed.

Media Coverup In Jos, Nigeria Massacres, Exposed By Barnabas Fund!

On March 7, when 500 Christians were massacred at 1am by machete -weilding muslims, many news reports put the blame on the Christians by claiming the muslims were retaliating for previous attacks on them.  According to the Barnabas Fund, this is a lie. The Barnabas Fund is an interdenominational Christian organization, who is devoted to helping Christians around the world who face persecution.

In January a church leader in Jos expressed his belief that Muslims had carried false reports about the conflict to the international media in order to discredit the Church. The Pope expressed shame and remorse for the”sinful and criminal” acts done by members of the clergy. Although, the Pope expresses many words of apology in his letter, no action is mentioned being done to punish the perpetrators. In the past Priests have been moved from one parish to another where accusations of abuse have risen again. The victims would like to see some action taken as well as the clarification of some Vatican rules that seem to allow abuse to continue. Shame on you church and Pope! Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr., is an eight-term member of Congress, representing Illinois’ 2nd district. Rep. Jackson’s ethics issue stems from his bid to be appointed to a vacant Illinois Senate seat and subsequently, the federal investigation of former-Governor Rod Blagojevich.

Vacant Senate Seat

On December 9, 2008, former Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested by federal agents for what was described at the time as a “political corruption crime spree.” One of the central allegations against the governor was that he attempted to sell an appointment to the Senate seat vacated by then President-elect Obama.

In the affidavit supporting the arrest of Gov. Blagojevich, the governor is quoted stating he believed a particular candidate, later identified as Rep. Jackson, would “raise money” for him and that “he might get some [money] upfront.” The governor also claimed an “emissary” from Rep. Jackson came to him and offered to raise a total of $1.5 million for his campaign should Rep. Jackson indeed be appointed to the vacant Senate seat. In fact, the day before the governor’s arrest, Rep. Jackson met with him to discuss the vacancy.

CBS NEWS now turning on Obama?  Read a very strong editorial calling Obama speeches nothing but cotton candy, substanceless hyperbole, especially this excerpt which clearly spells out the truly ruinous effect of passing this Obamanation against the will of the people:

Is civil disobedience necessary?


When the United States Federal government is functioning correctly, there is no need for civil disobedience. Our disagreements can be settled in the courts, or by legislation if necessary. Legislation is meant to be representative of the public will.

So what happens when legislation is not representing the people’s will? What if our legislators ignore the very people they work for, and violate the Constitution itself? What if they pass a law which requires the people to fund something with their taxes which they morally oppose, or requires the people to purchase a private good or face jail time?

The answer is civil disobedience. We do not have to follow unjust laws. The ability to govern rests on the consent of the governed, and if our legislators violate that consent by acting against our will we are not obligated to follow their ‘law’.

Today, my goal is not to convince you of anything; I don’t want to argue the debate; I don’t want to tell you what to do, but rather to share
with you a story that has been with me my entire adult life. This is my
story and I think we all have one to tell. For me, this story changed, I
believe, the course of my life.

I remember meeting my best friend, we had an instant bond and soon we
were hanging out all the time.We grew up together and shared so many
good and bad times. Boy, if I could tell all the things we experienced,
you probably would not believe them. I was a quiet, cool headed, slow to
jump, a problem solving person and my best friend was the polarized
opposite: full of life,totally open, wild, fly by the seat of your
pants, overly friendly, funny and a blast to hang out with. We were
like fire and water together- Best Friends Forever. I will call my best
friend Mary to keep her identity private. Mary loved a good party, a
good dance, a good drink and not in that order.

She was always the life of the party and everyone loved her. Though I did not enjoy parties as much as Mary, I went along to make sure she could get home.
She was grateful for me and I was happy to help her when ever she needed
something. I remember through out our relationship she would always
come to me for advice, knowing that I would have an answer to her
problems. And I always did.

One day, Mary needed to talk, she looked so serious and I knew
something was wrong. I asked her what was wrong. She was embarrassed to
tell me at first, she made me swear not to tell anyone. So I gave her
my word. Then she told me. She was pregnant and didn’t know what to do.
My response was: What? Whose? and Oh,No! She needed my help, she asked
me to take her to an abortion clinic. For the first time I didn’t know
what to do. I never asked her if she was sure, I never tried to
convince her not to do that, I just held her real tight and told her,
“it was going to be, okay”.

That is all I could give Mary, my support and unconditional love. She was relieved, but ashamed. A few weeks
later, we drove to the clinic in silence. I could tell that Mary was
not sure about this decision. I said nothing, I just drove. When we
arrived at the clinic, my instinct was to turn around, everything looked
sterile and the smell was stale in the waiting room, I did not feel
comfortable. I sat with Mary, held her hand until they called her name.
I could not go in with her, I was turned away.

She was in there by herself, I could not be by her side, why? About one hour later, she
emerged. The look on her face told me everything. I had made a
mistake, I had given her the wrong advice, what have I done? Mary was
grieving, I had seen that face before. Oh, God what have I done! We
walked outside to the car without a word exchanged; just silence – the
kind of silence the comes right before a burial. Once inside the car,
Mary began to weep, and began to tell me what had just occurred. In the
middle of the procedure, she had a moment, the realization that she was
about to end the life of her unborn child.

She told me that she asked the Dr. to stop; “stop”, she said. No response. He did not heed. Her
eyes had been opened, her heart was overcome, she did not want do to
this, but it was too late. Mary continued to cry all the way home, she
could not be consoled that day. I had failed my best friend. I could
of stopped her. She would of listened to me, she loved me and I loved
her. To this day, Mary still mourns the death of her child, she has not
forgotten that day, it is not a day of celebration – a birth day;
rather a reminder of what she did over twenty years ago. Mary is married
now and has five living children and one unborn.

Today, I still share the guilt with Mary, it is our secret that we bear
together. I share this story with you so you don’t do the same. We both
were ignorant of the options for the unborn, but not any longer.Both
Mary and I choose life and that will not ever change. That experience
changed our lives, forever. If her story will stop an unborn child from
being aborted today, or sometime in the future, we thank you and may God
Bless You.

I received an email from the Susan B Anthony List about the fight for life being waged so that young women, like my very own wife, know there are better alternatives, and so that they aren’t misinformed about and even encouraged to participate, if even indirectly, in taking the life of the unborn.

all six swing pro-life Democratic districts. Our dedicated staff here
at Susan B. Anthony List are burning up the phone lines and calling all

New York – A report by the Presbyterian Church USA which blames Israel for “Palestinian resistance” as well as denouncing companies for doing business with Israel, has been bashed by The Jewish Council for Public Affairs.

In a memo sent to all members and the board of directors on Monday, the Jewish leaders denounced the 172 page Presbyterian report. “It’s a highly-selective use of text, history and circumstances to form an anti-Israel narrative,” said JCPA vice president Ethan Felson. “They give significant voice to anti-Zionists, condemn companies that sell to Israel and allow for the demonization of Israel. That’s several red lines.”

The report also contains charges against US government as well as supporting and endorsing the Kairos Palestine document, a manifesto by Christian Palestinians that calls for an end to Israel as a Jewish state and uses words like “evil” and “sin” to describe Israeli actions. Somehow Christians calling for an end to the Jewish state seems highly suspicious to me!

Muslim Herdsman Murder 11 Christians In Nigeria

Near the city of Jos,  Nigeria, at about 1am Wednesday, violence erupted once again as Muslim herdsmen attacked and killed 11 people, women and children am0ng them, and stole cattle. Some of the attackers also wore military uniforms

This attack follows the many others that have plagued this area, including the recent machette- weilding attack that killed hundreds of Christians in Jos and the surrounding area.

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo also has said that the violence is fueled more by ethnic, social, and economic problems than religion. Somehow, I don’t agree with President Obasanjo!

Banned Bible Study In California Home!

Officials refuse to budge on an order to shut down a Bible study in a southern California home. The Bible study which involves about a dozen people and meets on Friday nights must shut down by Good Friday or face financial sanctions. Or they could apply for an expensive permit from city government.

The city recently dispatched a letter to the homeowner insisting the study is not allowed because it is a “church,” Dacus said. In the city, churches are required to obtain a “Conditional Use Permit” in residential areas. Hmmm, so does that mean if someone has a party at their house and serves alcohol they need a liquor liscense? Get real!
