Politics- Top Story- Illinois Senate Race Report

The Illinois Senate Race now emerging between Kirk(R) and Giannoulis(D) is casting a large shadow over the efforts by Dems to maintain large majorities in the House and Senate in 2010.  With Giannoulis being easily depicted as a financial mafioso, the GOP is licking its chops at the opprtunity to take Obama’s old Senate Seat, but is Kirk the right choice for conservative?

Illinois Senate Race Worries Democrats Anew- NYTimes

From The New York Times:

Alexi Giannoulias, the treasurer of Illinois and a basketball-playing friend of President Obama’s, won the Democratic primary here on Tuesday for the Senate seat once held by Mr. Obama. But his victory was hardly the free throw some had expected, setting off a new round of worrying among Democrats that the reliably Democratic seat might be picked off by Republicans in November.

But who is Kirk?  Will he be able to excite the GOP base?

Illinois Senate race 2010, bad choices only: Mark Kirk and Alexi Giannoulias win- Another Black Conservative

The Illinois primaries are over and the winners are Mark Kirk and Alexi Ginnoulias. Both are bad choices. Mark Kirk was part of the Cap and Tax 8 and has a very long history of RINO behavior. Alexi Ginnoulias is your typical sleazy Chicago politician whose family bank is in the hole for millions and made loans to the likes of Tony Resko.
So what to do? If I were voting in Illinois, I would let Ginnoulias win. I know, I know, how could I do such a think? Simple, it is a matter of quality vs. quantity. For too long, we have been playing the numbers game. Get as many Republicans in as possible for the sake of seeing Democrats loose and the results have always been the same … we get unreliable votes when we need them the most.
